The Phone Call I Never Wanted to Get, and My Unconventional Path to the Draft

    http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2628857-the-phone-call-i-never-wanted-to-get-and-my-unconventional-path-to-the-draft

Great article, thanks for sharing. High character guy that is very driven. Can't beat that. Did you ever think about how many Buffalo Bills from the championship teams are still highly regarded and so intelligent? Think of all of them still in football as reporters, talk show hosts, etc....

    Bucky Brooks

    Steve Tasker

    Marcellus Wiley

    Frank Reich

    anyways...

  2. After reading Mario's quotes I have come to one, unmistakable conclusion -- he's a douche. Good riddance.

He duped us all. He came in here giving us so much hope, and the year that we really needed him, the year we should have made the playoffs, he Lied. Stole the money and did not give effort. That is so infuriating! Can't stand people who get paid and just lolly gag through their work. I hope he doesn't make it to the HOF because players that take a year off don't deserve it!

  3. Jimbo's release was faster than normal but not in the league of Marino or Elway. It was still plenty quick enough.

Kelly's greatest asset as a passer was his incredible touch and accuracy in every and all conditions. I'm not sure what the exact number is but if you said that an NFL QB has to be able to make 15 different types of throws, Kelly could throw all 15 perfectly. Both Marino and Elway, while awesome passers tended to throw a bit of a flat trajectory ball sometimes.

Jimbo's passes always had the perfect trajectory for the play.

Also Jimbo threw the most beautiful deep balls of any QB I can recall.

The other thing that Jimbo had, which you can't quantify, is his leadership ability. Love what comes out of EJ's mouth. We have a QB that speaks well, acts well, and leads. That is the best thing about EJ vs all the QBs this year. Thank goodness we didn't get Geno Smith!

  4. I am a Richmond season ticket holder, and that team was a mess this year. Little talent around him, new head coach 4 days before opener, always behind...made him force throws into covered receivers etc.

That being said, I would not envision Aaron being on the Bills in any capacity by game 1. Maybe I am way off base, and certainly our scouts are smarter than me..but I just do not see it. Big kid, I think he has become a bit gun shy after two big leg injuries. But as mentioned above, that could be a product of a shite o line as well. Nice kid, did not big time the team, school or community , and trust me we were every bit as pumped for him coming as Mario signing with the Bills.

Hope I am wrong, two Spiders on the team would be great..I just don' t think the talent is there.

Looks like in the video clip he was pretty accurate and hit his receivers in stride. That was nice to see. The team must have been hurting if you can lose a game despite your QB going 31 out of 34.

  5. I think its more of getting fired because the team shouldn't rely so heavily on the qb position. If polian had built any type of supportive cast manning would have so many rings. That team flat couldn't compete without manning which is scary. Luck is good but if he spends the first year or two losing and getting pounded in the ground he could flame out. If the colts sell the first pick and get multiple first and second rounders which turn out to be good picks they could be good for 4 more years behind manning and the colts could develop a qb behind him in the meantime. The skins have been known to be crazy and could trade the farm for luck. The colts would still get a top ten pick, plus have two more picks in the top 40, then have a first and maybe more next year.

When one position is making $18 million a year towards the cap, each draft has to be almost perfect. Hard for anyone to be THAT good. But Polian was good for us and for the Colts. Wish we could have him run our front office.

  6. Yet another post on how Freddie is underpaid.........

Yes and when he signed he new contract he was the #2 back on the depth chart. That's a pretty good salary for a #2.

I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve a raise but it isn't going to happen mid-season. He's not struggling to pay the mortgage and his family isn't going to starve to death. It'll either get done or it won't. If it doesn't it'll give the perpetually miserable Bills fans something to B word about for the next six months.

Agreed. At the time, he was given a fair contract. He's certainly out performed it, but it was still a risk back at that time.

I give Freddie serious props though, because he's not making a huge stink right now.

He deserves appreciation when the contract is up, just hope he's healthy enough to get a new contract.

  7. Yes, let's change QB's before the fist game of the season. That'll make an impact! <_<

    PTR

Or we can change Offensive Coordinators. Oops. We already did that! :wallbash:

It's not shocking that Garrard lost his job for the reasons you mention. The timing is shocking. I mean, who waives their starting QB right at the beginning of the season??? Besides the Bills of course who similarly cut TE 8 days into the season! Major personnel moves don't happen now. Well, besides the Bills firing their OC right before the season a couple years ago.

OUCH! Why am I a Bills fan again?

  8. They could do away with the 2-man wedge, and put all 10 blockers in the wedge. We'd send Jasper. In another venue, this is known as "bowling".

The Peters reference is perfect. Even if he has no 3-down techniques, they can coach him for goal-line and blocking kicks while he learns to play a real position. Screw this John Wendling hop over the line like the Easter Bunny. Let Jasper bust a gap with strength, or just mash that line a couple yards backwards, and then jump for the block with that absurd vertical. He's bound to get one of those hams in the way just on law of averages.

If he does nothing else as a rookie, would two blocked kicks be worth a roster spot? I say yes. Those are huge, game-changing plays and not everyone can make them. After we lucked out on waiving Peters to the PS and bringing him back and turning him into an impact 'teamer and then a (questionable) Pro-Bowler at tackle, I don't think the NFL as a whole will let us get away with it again.

As far as nicknames go I've heard "Eclipse", "Jasper The Giant", "Mount Jasper", etc... but I kinda like "Shrek"

He's nothing like Peters. Article says he did great on his Wonderlic. Didn't Peters have the lowest score ever?
