  1. The reason we watch football is entertainment value pure and simple, and it ain't lookin' good now. It's easy to say "Garcia sucks", but the guy was in the Pro Bowl as recently as 2007. Never been badly injured. In football shape. Experienced. Motivated. If that is "sucking", what word would you use for Trent Backwards?
  2. This guy would help right now. http://sports.espn.go.com/extra/ufl/news/story?id=5519159
  3. Yep I said it. The guy just turned 40 but he has forgotten more football than Trentative knows. I watched the game today at a Bills bar here in Vegas. By the end of the game the fans were booing every time Edwards was onscreen. Somewhere inside Chan has to be saying, "This guy isn't gonna make me look like Dick Jauron". Because if you cut old sideline shots of Count Chocula into today's broadcast, you'd swear it was 2009. Defense holding on for dear life (and surrendering only 13 points). Special teams more than adequate. Glacial offense. Don't tell me the OL stinks- Edwards had time to make plays, and failed to execute miserably. He simply cannot handle the pace of an NFL game. Time to turn the page. Which brings me back to the title of this post. Everybody knows the Bills are waiting for the rookie salary cap next year to choose their future QB from a rich draft class. But how can they expect us as loyal fans to write off this year after the first game? AFTER TEN YEARS OF FUTILITY THEY OWE US MORE THAN THAT. Garcia is by no means a long term solution, but we need some hope, some entertainment in place of the current embarrassment at QB. Garcia-Fitz-Brohm isn't nearly as bad as BarbieCheckdown-Fitz-Brohm. Next year, when we draft QB savior X, Garcia can be kept on as starter until the kid is ready. That's how real teams develop QB's. Today, I have no doubt Garcia would have put up more than 10 points against a very average Dolphin defense. The attached article mentions that Garcia's agent contacted all 32 teams this past offseason, so they must have called Nix. Time to wake up, Buddy. I for one am sick of waiting. http://sports.espn.go.com/extra/ufl/news/story?id=5519159
  4. "Skin Flutie"- why do some members of Bills Nation have it out for this guy? Granted he was no Kelly, but there have been only a handful of QB's in the 50 year history of the Bills to play postseason for us- Kemp. Lamonica, Ferguson, Kelly, Reich and Flutie. Given the rarity of the species and the object of the NFL regular season, it just seems puzzling. Is it because we didn't draft him? Again, great day for the Bills, and we should all be stoked for the season.
  5. The last quarterback to lead the Bills to the playoffs isn't significant?
  6. Bruce did a great job in his speech tonight- it was just about a perfect Bills evening at the HOF. However, no one mentioned a teammate who was a big part of the last sniff the Bills had of the playoffs, with Smith, Reed and Thomas still on the team. The one who enabled the Bills to "circle the wagons" on offense for what was the last time for that group of players (minus Kelly, who had retired). I mean of course the Diminutive One, Doug Flutie. I remember one game where Flutie ran for a TD on a broken play toward the end of the season to win a game, and Bruce picked him up on the sidelines like a ragdoll. I think Paul Maguire said something like, "Bruce has children bigger than Flutie". Euphoria. Berman. Wagons circling again. The last good time this organization had in 10 years was when Flutie was on the team with Smith & Co. Why no mention? (Ignorant dwarf jokes begin...now)
  7. Ok this is really OT but my brother just got back to Vegas from Bflo with KAN JAM the frisbee game. It is addictive! He said it's everywhere there- I'm going to introduce it here as long as the frisbee doesn't melt- it was 108 today. GO BILLS!
  8. I believe you have up to one year to collect- either in person or by giving the ticket to someone you trust who will be going.
  9. All valid points, but four big things against the Bills: 1) Brady will want to make a statement on MNF. 2) Zebras in New England 3) Jauron vs. Bellicheat in a game situation. 4) See #3.
  10. I'd still follow the team, but I but I think the guy at least has the physical ability to be entertaining in the UFL If his happy feet make him scramble too much, he could still be initially effective at this level. Right now, the job is his, and he is the face of the team (can't believe I just wrote that). I'm hoping for adequacy to begin with; stardom would be a bonus.
  11. Nah, I think the league requires its head coaches to have a pulse.
  12. Vegas offers many things- great shows, restaurants, gambling, recreation, etc. Just one thing missing- pro football, even on a minor league scale. I agree Losman was a bum for the Bills; however Fassel is probably a better coach than the last three the Bills have had. The guy actually coached a team to the Super Bowl. (Why didn't Ralph hire him instead of WilliaMularJauron?) He could make a big difference in JP's career, and if he does, the Vegas team will have an exciting product on the field. The UFL will have a decidedly Bills flavor for fans of the team. Haslett and Cottrell will be head coaches, and the games should be entertaining. Now is where I stand up, and say, "C'mon! Who's with me?" Maybe I'll only hear crickets, but hopefully not. The UFL will be what displaced NFL fans will make of it, and there are plenty of us out there. This is good news for Las Vegas!
  13. It might be fun to circle the wagons at the Vegas UFL games- there should be a halfway decent product on the field with Fassel at the helm. Anyone interested in getting together please let me know. I will be motorhome tailgating at Sam Boyd Stadium this fall. Gonna show the Bills colors. Class of '79, Depew High School.
  14. No doubt Santora's on Sunset is the best one, but the pot luck at Johnny Mac's is a close second.
  15. Thanks! There are many entertainment options here, so I'm not too sure how many sellouts there will be. However, there is a solid football tradition at UNLV and the city has supported AAA baseball for many years. One question that lingers is do the Bills retain the rights to Losman? If Fassel pulls a miracle and J.P. turns it around big time in Vegas, say wins the champonship, coupled with an injury to Edwards- could the Bills "call up" J.P.?
  16. Las Vegas is a desert in more than one way- so many expatriate Buffalo fans here- I think a sniff of NFL and Bills in particular will bring fans out. Night games in Oct. and Nov. here are a smart idea. We're gonna tailgate Buffalo style!
  17. Did you let him know that for eight Sundays every year, he would have a congregation of 80,000 people ready to follow him through ANYTHING to get the Bills to win? Maybe his contract could include opportunities to actually address the fans...uh, parishoners on the subject of his choice. Who among us would not agree with him after, say, beating the Patriots at home? "Amen, brother Frank!" That would be the rowdiest service ever! Billy Graham does that in stadiums- it's called a crusade. That way, we get a worthy coach, and Frank gets to carry on his mission. Think of it- never have to choose between attending services and going to a game again!
  18. Actually, he might be younger than Marv.
  19. Ya but he'd trade the next draft for Ricky Williams again. Great image, but a doof.
