  1. The trick is what will happen when the US stops funding all the private militias.
  2. I have no recollection of ever visiting the Daily Kos. Is that what made the McCain campaign disclose that Palin's daughter was pregnant? Actually I think for McCain to win the fight for the middle which you mention, the "see what the Left has done to this poor woman" is not a winning hand. Playing victim is extremely bad politics.
  3. Making law review editor is a little different than being elected Junior Varsity football captain. Those positions have long term financial and career advantages and are highly coveted. Does this look like a popularity contest: http://www.harvardlawreview.org/membership.shtml
  4. Well put. I'm not really sure if or what skills on either of their resumes is generalizable across jobs to the presidency. I also happen to think that the current president would be a lousy small town mayor, community organizer, or class action attorney. I also like the "we are mad as hell speech" from the Republican women this morning. They never quite bothered to identify who they were mad at beyond "some people" who do things "that will not stand". How dare those nebulous people say those nebulous things.... The inhumanity.
  5. He did supervise the Harvard Law Review. That isn't saying much, but it was a step above Scalia, Ginsberg, Roberts, and Breyer when they were on it.
  6. I actually agree with this angle, from a readiness standpoint. McCain has had since Mar 8th to vet and prepare a VP candidate. And now his campaign is seemingly totally caught off-guard by his choice. The McCain campaign had half a year to find somebody and get them battle ready, which is an enormous political luxury. It was squandered. Totally squandered.
  7. The 10th Amendment gives the right to be successful?
  8. The last sentence was 'aaggggh'. He must have died writing it.
  9. That is exactly what Imperial Japan after the Meiji Revolution wasn't. An oligarchy perhaps, but they came from petite nobility involved in civil administration.
  10. Without a faggot of sticks tied into a billet with an axe, they can't be fascist, right?
  11. Terrorists are a real threat and may one day kill you. However, our way of life is a hell of a lot more resilient than any several thousand of us. Once 7th century revivalists take over a small state, let's say Vermont or Delaware, I'll promote that slogan from refrigerator magnet myself.
  12. Careful.....Cuniform and the ziggurat didn't invent themselves.
  13. She's probably writing the Telegraph-Herald as we speak about how the New Yorker's low-brow tactics have gone too far. Either that, or she's on her way to Tribeca for a Fellini film festival.
  14. The new New Yorker: using edgy cartoons to suck people into reading their recent articles on Chesterton, Keats as a modernist, the classical music revival in China, Murakami's dopamine addled addiction to jogging, .......
  15. I hate it when morons think that our way of life was threatened by 7th century revivalists in pajamas.
  16. You have to be careful where you geo-cache these days. That's for sure.
  17. Nah, there is not much red meat for the base here. The Obama campaign has done very well to present a candidate that can be seen as transcending categories that the base knows they have lost on in the past (race, religion). It would really be dumb to touch this with more than a plain press release from the campaign with.... point out, look forward to, politics of the past, concern, real issues, unflattering depiction, move ahead, blah, blah, blah......
  18. It is hard for me to see any political advantage in it because they are satirizing the 10% of the electorate that think he is Muslim.
  19. "As POTUS, I will not be texting during boring state dinners. Even if you are my BFF." -John McCain
  20. Hey everybody, the New Yorker printed a cartoon that most people don't understand! What the hell is going on?
  21. Nonsense. The humor of the New Yorker has never been broad.
  22. In the future everyone is a victim, the only variant will be to which degree.
  23. Just another politician willing to play the quantum gravity card. What else is new?
  24. Big days ahead for you brother, big days.
  25. Where has "The Podium" been?
