1. I feel the same way.

I will never stop watching, and never stop cheering. But even if we did pull this one out we are not a playoff team. Our defense is porous, and the offense is about as lethargic as it gets.  We will beat the cream puffs as we did during our winning streak last year, but we won't beat anybody good unless we improve drastically.

This constant blitzing is hurting us today another 200 yds rushing against day and at home no less. Injuries on defense are hurting.

  2. I was happy to see the Bills are finally in HD this week, but ..

I think the game is on local fox 23, which I believe means that Direct TV will black out on the 700+ channels.

And the local fox is not broadcasting HD OTA yet so I'm stuck with the standard version

I also get the NYC Fox HD feed from DTV, but they are not showing the bills (Dallas instead)

All these braodcast rules are frustrating - I get this HD superfan and I still cant see the BIlls game

someone please tell me Im wrong somewhere here

Nope you arent wrong the damlocal affiliates are screwing us. Like they think I watch their damn commercials anyways most fans with sunday ticket san other games!!!!!!!

  3. The media is already talking about $4 or $5 gallon.  Once the talk starts the oil companies know they can raise their prices to those levels any time they want.

Katrina caused an immediate decrease in gas production of 15% but prices went up over 40%.  After a few days half the production was back up so overall total production has only been down by about 7% since that time but gas prices are still about 30% above pre-Katrina prices.

Texas refines about 25% I think I heard.  So I guess the oil industry will think they can raise prices 67%.

    451351

yeah and whose buddies own those texas refineries and platforms etc. Amazing that Attorney General isnt investigating what happend post Katrina and what had already started a few days ago, I had alread seen the prices inching forward earlier this week with a simple 5cents a gallon on monday, 5 cents on wed and 5 cents today. So this time they are hiding the greed versus the 50 cent hike day after katrina, cant wait to see what prices are on sunday after this damn thing hits land.

Could go thru this whole list and provide analysis of each player. But the key question is which of these players would you still want on roster taking into account the price tag it was going to take to keep them?

From my Take Tom Nutten has proven alot more with STL than he ever did here in Buffalo and always wondered why we didnt keep him given the fact his price tag was minimal and he seems to have done well with the Rams.

  5. I always felt that Football season starts too early.  If the season started a few weeks later, lets say the first full weekend after Autumn, then we wouldn't have to worry about these types of problems.  Yes I know that October is still hot in Florida, but maybe starting the games a few weeks later and make the southern teams home games start at 4PM may help.  It may make a better game for both the players and fans.

    449140

Right playing at 4PM makes it so much cooler, Dallas was 100 degrees on field at 9PM. I think the NFL seriously needs to look at scheduling games in the south this early in the year or teams like Buffalo need to rethink training camp to be in someplace like Raleigh were we havent had a day below 85 in weeks and humidty in the AM is around 100%

  6. Except one of the keys and turning points of the Texans game, if not THE key play, was the 42 yard bomb to Evans.

    449566

But we didnt start the game bombing it started with some stuff to get JP in the flow the staff seemed to forget that this last week

  7. Survive 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses ??????

Personnally, I choose to celebrate 4 consecutive AFC championships ......... being a fan from the 60's also, I've "survived" the miserable 70's ..... I've survived a decade worth of straight losses to the Dolphins ...... the SB losses may have hurt at the moment .......... but damn ..... those were some fun years to be a Bills fan.

    449221

And just like we celebrated that first time we beat the felons in Sept 1980 ( I have a piece of the turf from that one ) we will celebrate hugely when we will be crowned World Champs.

I was always proud of the 4 straight AFC Championships but loosing its luster with Pats winning 3 of 4 and walking away with the grand prize.

  8. Buffalo offense:

    1) keep 8 out of the box -- this will not happen until losman hits some targets, over the middle and down the sidelines......a deep shot early on the first drive would go a long way to backing off the safeties....their secondary is hurting and needs to be challenged......just stay away from hall....

    Buffalo defense (assuming vick starts):

    3) encourage vick to scramble -- make him test out the hammy early by taking away his receiving options and collapasing the pocket....much like in the seattle game, despite the fact he's not 100% he still has the intial instinct to scramble when the play breaks down which leads to indecisivness........find out what he has early and adjust the gameplan from there.......

    449487

I am not sure long passes are whats needed seemed we tried that a little with TB and didnt work. Need to find a way to make the Falcons secondary respect the plays the TB folks were jumping routes like crazy so means JP aint doing look offs or they knew we wouldnt try going over the top. I still think ya have to do with JP like Pitt does with ben and we did in first game. keep it simple with some quick slant stuff etc to get him comfortable and loosen up the 8 in the box. Than establish the run and stay with it.

On D I would like to see some early on blitzing to see if Vicks hammy can hold up to the pressure.

  9. I am glad that you are proud.  But with that being said I had season tickets to the Bills games for 15 years when I live in Buffalo. I can tell you our fans are just as fair weather. many a game I sat there with 20,000 other people. When the Bills were 2-14 it was hard to find anyone wearing Bills gear.

    It is the same everywhere.

    449094

well I was one of the 20K you talk about but during the 2 - 14 years we had more than 20K in the stands each sunday. I have had season tickets since 1974 ( first time I was old enough to drive to a game ). I always wear my bills gear and fly my flag on my house from opening day until the end of the bills season.

  10. I think technology can do better than cameras. At this point there is no reason to not have some type of sensors on the ball and at the goal line. Then there would be NO question as to whether it reached the goal line.

Of course, that would have to be used in combination with cameras to see if the ball carrier was down or out of bounds.

    447783

right I believe with RFID installed in football and a set of sensors we actually might be able to elliminate the measuring of a first down, placement issue of ball, whether ball broke plain of the goal line etc. The technology is there we dont need freaking cameras.

  11. I've been thinking about it, and I've come to the conclusion that it makes no sense for us to have Daimon Shelton in the game right now. That's not to say the guy is not a good player, cause he is. The problem is that every team we play is going to take the same approach with us - stack the box and make JP beat them. That being said, what makes more sense....having another body in the way of Willis finding a hole.....or going to three wideouts and spreading open the defense? I say we scrap the fullback, start a third receiver in the slot, and bench Shelton. That will immediately give Willis a little more room to run while at the same time allowing JP to have a fifth receiving option.

    Agree? Disagree?

    447257

Agree aslo need to establish some quick out and curl patterns to get the defenses jumping routes like TB did and then get an up and out.

  12. After 18 games, I'm a bit disappointed that our OL has not made greater strides under MacNally.

San Diego, Pittsburgh, New England, Denver, Carolina... I don't believe anyone of these teams is loaded with 1st/2nd round talent on the line.  SD has an undrafted FA and a 7th rounder on the right side.

Yet those teams have solid run blocking OLs year after year. That implies coaching. We haven't had a real good line since Jim Ringo left over a decade ago...

So, is it coaching or players that make the line?

    445998

I think McNally needs to start learning the blocking technique deployed by the Pats, but than again we might end up getting flagged every play for holding. Its amazing how the Pats plug in OL men and can pass protect and run the ball, we plug in guys with someone considered best OL coach of all time and they cant open a decent hole to save their lives.

I know many would like to see Nate retained next year but damn we need to get focus on fixing this OL ASAP.
