BR is a mess 😂
I absolutely agree. I was trying to have fun with it but sometimes fun at midnight isn't as funny as you (that is, I) think it is.

Ok, explain this to me.
BR starts with "Hairston is a long and rangy cornerback prospect . . . at 6'1". But then in its own measurables BR says he's 5'11".
So . . . ?

This is what I've been thinking but without a lot of confidence. I believe Beane will take a shot on Garrett but (1) there's a lot of competition for him, (2) Cleveland should want him as far away as possible (= NFC) if they do decide to trade him, and (3) I don't think Beane will be as hellbent bat sh*t crazy to do a deal no matter what as some other GM(s) might be. Maybe Metcalf?

Denver is his next stop. Reunion with Sean Payton.
Re Rizzi: you may be right. But he's from around here (North Jersey) so the Jets wouldn't be the biggest surprise.

As a Bills fan I'm always ready to panic. Why hasn't he signed yet when everybody else has?? TALK ME OFF THE LEDGE.

Well he already knows the offense and still wanted to play, and bills didn’t want him back. In shortened offseason probably the only place that fit. Could see him getting bumped from the 53 though.
True. And throw in there that for some reason Gase doesn't like Bell.
I am NOT saying Gore replaces Bell. I'm saying Gase will like having him around unless and until Frank's skill set forces him to do something else.

I think Cam Newton ends up in NE some time before September.
I see your logic, but here's my problem: for years (with Brady) the NE offense was based on quick reads and getting the ball out on seams and curls and other short-to-intermediate stuff, with just the occasional long pass. It also exploited mismatches at TE with Gronk, which didn't happen in '19 so the NE offense scratched around for points more than it was used to while its D (which has lost some people from '19) controlled the game. I don't know if Cam can play that kind of O, especially without a normal offseason. And it may be even worse if they redesign the O to fit him without a normal offseason.
Now I'll just stand back while other people tell me how wrong I am.

Taco signed with the Chiefs this morning. Remember when it seemed like the Patriots could sign anybody and the salary cap never mattered? Doesn't it seem like the Magic Payroll charm has moved on to KC?

You got me - my mistake and thanks for pointing out. Nevertheless, my point stands about the low class remarks by this individual about entire communities. Name calling - no good.
Agreed. I'm surprised the Globe indulges the stuff but I guess I shouldn't be.

Cue the next Patriots-are-in-cap-hell-but-they'll-cheat-their-way-out-of-it thread.

What a shame. His father was a true professional and had class! Now look what the son did to the family name after all the hard work his father did.
Are you sure you're not thinking of Will (and Sean) McDonough? Will McDonough was a classy reporter for both The Boston Globe and NBC and I don't recall Sean ever badmouthing the Bills.
Shaughnessy is primarily a baseball writer who is pandering to his local base here when he has nothing else to write about. I wonder how many Bills (or Jets or Dolphins) games he's even watched.

Can someone here confirm for me: for dead money purposes, a retirement is the same as a cut, right? So a team can't fix a cap issue like that by just letting a player walk into the sunset?

Living here in the Garden State I got to see a lot of Chad Pennington, who was actually a first round draft choice (Ok, by the Jets, but still ...). He had very limited athletic ability, an unimpressive arm, and maybe college stats inflated by playing with Randy Moss -- a big advantage in comparing him to Fromm. But Pennington really knew how to play the game of football and the position of quarterback and he made his team win because he was so good from the neck up. I keep thinking -- hoping? -- that's Fromm's story.

Fromm is currently the 4th QB on the depth chart. He's got to work his way up the ladder. He's got the advantage though because he hasn't proven himself to be, at best, a backup QB like Barkley and Webb have, plus he's cheap.
And here I thought drafting Fromm meant the Davis Webb era is over.
The only question in my mind here -- seriously -- is whether they'll put Fromm on the roster or chance waiving him to the PS. Webb is a non-factor and Barkley is on the last year of his contract, so Fromm was drafted to fill the luxury position of backup QB for the longer term, not 2020. They like saving the roster space by carrying only 2 QB's and I think they'll carry two kickers with Bass handling KO's. They also like DL's and WR's in numbers. So there will be some tough decisions coming this year.
And I wouldn't be surprised if Fromm spent '20 on IR either. Just sayin'.

The 58 yarder from Sr Bowl practices that hit halway up the uprights had a really low trajectory, and that was vs a defense. I think he can adjust for the wind.
I really hope you're right but I have no doubt he makes the team because nearly 80% of his KO's were touchbacks.
-
Maybe this has already been mentioned but it seemed to escape everyone yesterday in the argument over leg strength: in 2019 he had 55 touchbacks on 72 kickoffs.
72 kickoffs in 13 games also means Georgia Southern was scoring, meaning it probably didn't need to try 50+ yard FG's very often.
-
If he's the second coming of Chad Pennington I'll live with it. Before Pennington's noodle arm gave out he was a really good football player.

It's also noticeable how much of a rainbow effect his kicks have, I'd say they'll be very difficult to block.
Sky isn't falling is my point, looks like we got a good one.
I hope you're right (on Draft Day I want to drink the Kool-Aid) but I worry about rainbow kickers at New Era. Bills kickers have to blast line drives to cut through the wind. Arcing kicks allow for more play from the wind.
-
Louis Riddick (talking about someone else) just said 6-1 ½ is "tremendous size." Huh?
-
Maybe this explains why they took Fromm --- to make a Georgia Southern kicker comfortable with a Georgia holder.

Between Davis and Moss it looks like Beane is working on his goal line offense.

So . . . people (starting with Reggie Bush) think the Packers plan to take the next two or three years off while they groom Love? They're that intimidated by the juggernauts in Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit?
With Rodgers the Packers are maybe the division favorite. Without him they're Cincinnati.

Biggest 1st Round surprises
in The Stadium Wall
Posted
Maybe not the biggest after the Jax/Cle trade or Grant at 13 or Dallas drafting a guard or etc., etc., etc., but I was surprised Philadelphia gave up a 6th to move up ONE spot for the Alabama LB. It only makes sense (to me) if Philly was absolutely salivating over the LB and was sure KC would take him without the trade. Like the Bills, 10 rookies or however many picks Philly had are not going to make the team anyway so burning a 6th is probably not a big deal, but still . . . to move up ONE spot?
