  1. You can make your point all you want, but understand that you have no credibility as a football expert. You simply aren't one. For every non-expert opinion, there is an equal and opposite non-expert opinion.

So since none of us are football "experts" (BTW, what makes you an expert? A spot on ESPN? <_<) we might as well not post our opinions and replies. :P

  2. This is something which I am trying to understand better. Not necessarily the Gray angle, per se, but the entire scheme of things. I've been on the "Nate ain't as good as he thinks" bandwagon and the "Of course he's playing lights out in a contract year" caboose, but the more I read, the more I wonder if, from a defensive alignment standpoint, Clements was suddenly put in a better place to make plays as the year progressed. I don't know because I don't have enough time in my day to watch film.

Is Nate's position a position that can excel in one scheme and not excel in another?

Gray made the CB's line up off of the WR's by about 20 yards ...

  3. What was the reason given why Clements wasn't on him in the first place?

    I forgot. Thanks.

The reason? Its called basic football knowledge. M-M system will have the cornerbacks covering a particular side. Not just a receiver. Once in a while you will see a team explain that tehy decided to assign a CB to a particular receiver, but in most games the CB simply plays his side. Thus why in the same game you would see McGee getting scored on by Driver, and then get burned by Jennings. Its not the coaches on the sidelines saying "hmm ... I think I will put McGee on Driver this play, and then Jennings the next" .... a CB plays his SIDE.

  4. Flashbacks to McGee vs. Roy Williams. Ooh, the pain... <_<

As I've said before: I've resigned myself to seeing Clements in a different team's uniform next year, but that doesn't mean I like the idea.

This is one of my biggest fears ... our secondary is going to have 16 consecutive Roy Williams games next year ... and this time without Clements.

  5. That's my only complaint with Nate...consistency. I'm sure daquixers will tell me that I need to go to the games and watch or buy the old tapes and re-watch them, but I know what I saw the last few years. When he is playing well, there isn't anyone out there not named "Champ" who I would rather have on this team. But his career here is marked with inconsistency. Most recently, he was playing GREAT football. But I don't know if that was a result of wanting the new contract. Maybe his bad play a year or so back was the result of a bad Jerry Gray scheme. I don't know why he looks absolutely dominant at times and rather pedestrian at others. But I do know that if he gets a contract on par with Bailey, he better keep up his recent play if he plans on justifying the payout.

I don't know if I trust him to do that.

Yes and until you take my advice and go to the games or re-view the games, then you really have no standing. I am taking this from REAL evidence. You are making a stance based on your memory of years ago and the present. Which method do you think has a smaller margin of error?

  6. Nate was very consistent this year.

He was consistently bad the 1st half, and consistently good the second half.

At least he's not alternating his performance from year to year, but half to half.

<_< I have made this point several times and no one can seem to refute me on this. CLEMENTS WAS NOT BAD THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR! He was simply not making the plays that are seen on television that he was during the second half of the season. During the first half, he still limited his receiver to very few receptions and 0 Touchdowns. His biggest mistake was missing a few tackles. That was it. This was especially easy to see if you went to the games. He did fine the first half of the season. In the second half of the season, he simply started doing things that got him onto television, such as batting down key passes and making good INT's. That is the reason why people think he did so much better. He was SOLID all year long.

  7. It is - easier to use and much more secure than IE. I'd pay attention to the people who do this stuff for a living over what sullim says.

My brother-in-law does this for a living, and is very experiened (14 years) in the field. He prefers IE. Go figure.

  8. Champ Bailey, Ronde Barber, Chris Gamble, Asante Samuels, DeAngelo Hall, Deltha O'Neal, Chris McAlister, Shawn Springs, Patrick Surtain, Ty Law, Lito Sheppard, and Terrence Newman. They are all better than NC. They all make more plays, INTs and are better leaders than NC. Feel free to disagree but we aren't losing a Top 5 CB we are losing a Top 15 CB which is NOT that big of a deal espcially with Youboty (who didnt play because of ST not because he wasnt good enough) waiting in the wings with Thomas (who I believe we will resign) and our stud safties.

This has to be the most insane thing I have ever seen. Ty Law? THe guy who has been cut by 2 teams in the past 2 years? Sheppard? Newman? Gamble? O'Neal? Surtain (old!), BARBER???? This must be a joke. I have to go walk a while and lower my blood pressure.

  9. 1 Bailey

    2 Barber

    3 Gamble

    4 Samuels

    5 D. Hall

    6 D. O'neal

    7 McAlister

    8 Springs

    9 Surtian

    10 Sheppard

    11 Law

    12 Newman

    13/14 Harper

    14/13 Clements

    15 McKenzie

Any of the guys above Harper would be an instant upgrade over NC and if you dont think so then you dont know football.

Barber, Gamble, Springs? Newman, Harper? You are living in some other world my friend. I think it is you, that does'nt know football. What a ridiculous list and statement.

  10. Oh yeah. I've been to MGM quite a bit. But I've never been to Universal Studios, I guess.

    Listen.

Disney World = compilation of these parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, and Animal Kingdom ... along with Downtown Disney and a few other waterparks, such as blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon.

Universal Studies = Completely different corporation. Not in anyway, associated with Disney.

  11. Has anyone ever been to Universal Studios? Out of all the times I've been to DW I've never stayed there for an entire day. The only time I remember going was just to ride the TOWER OF TERROR ride. Of course I backed out of it. Too scary. Hey, I was 8 and I don't remember much of it except my mom went on it.

What's it like there? I might be going back to DW next year and from what I heard, we will be going to Universal Studios as well as to DW and Epcot of course.

You do realize that US, and DW are two completely seperate places right? And that Epcot and MGM are in Disney World correct?

  12. My experience was a lot different than yours. Never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for a monorail, and had to wait up to 30-45 mins for a bus.

That is very odd. I go during peak seasons (june-august) and usually wait 10-15 minutes tops.

  13. I do see what you're saying, but therein rests the Bills delimma. Our best player; therefore, potentially, highest paid player is a CB. That is not how you get to and win a Superbowl - building the defense around a CB. So, if retaining that CB dampens your ability to properly build a team then you have to make that tough choice and let him walk.

I know it's seem counter intuitive. But, pay Nate or sign 3-4 other defensive guys to help you stop the run. I know our pass defense will suffer; but what good is having the #1 pass defense when we have the #32 run defense? If by letting Nate walk, we can get a passable (no pun intended) CB and then shore up the DL. The end result lets say we're closer to a #15 ranked pass D (because Nate left), but we're also a #15 run D (because we used that money to pay a few extra guys). Would that be better? Would that not get us closer to the ultimate goal. I'd argue yes.

Now that's a simplistic example, of course. But, my point I'm trying to make is that if Nate demands so much money that it lessens our ability to build a solid team around him; then its an easy decision. Until we build up our lines, it doesn't matter who the CB is. I completely agree, we should keep Nate if at all possible. But, we shouldn't keep Nata at all costs. Some costs are too high.

Yes I understand what you are saying now.

  14. After 6 years without making the playoffs.. just making the playoffs should be the goal.

    1) I am glad.

    2) Congrats. Good Job.

    3) Then stop chearing for the Bills because clearly they disappoint you.

    4) Exactly lets wait and see what the Bills do to replace these players.

    5) They did lose. In the RCA dome in a game that clearly was the NFL Championship game. And they lost a slugfest. It was the game of the year. They win that game and they have their 4th Superbowl ring.

Tell me. What is the common denominator between the Patriots and Bills last year? NEITHER got a SB or Champion sip ring. Playoffs are NOT the goal.

    1. ...

    2. ...

    3. huh? stop cheering for a team when they disappoint you? So I'm guessing you were ecstatic when Norwood missed the kick? Because obviously you could never be disappointed in the Bills.

    4. Marv has already stated that we will replace through the draft ... meaning it may take years to replace those players. and you talk about just wanting to make the playoffs for the first time in 6 years

  15. Well, I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea what Indy's players make. But you're telling me that Bob Sanders makes more than Peyton? That their DT makes more than Freeney? That Wayne makes more than Harrison?

I'm not saying you don't pay your players big contracts. I'm saying there's a certain hierarchy just like all jobs, that you have to somewhat follow. If we make Nate our highest paid player - by far, I assure you JP and other players will eventually demand bigger contracts. I'm just suggesting we look at the bigger picture. As good as Nate may be, he can price himself right out of our plans if some team like the Redskins overpays for him.

No but that is because those players are BETTER than the other player. For example. If we had Rex Grossman as our QB in the 90's. Who would make more? Bennet or Grossman? Hopefully Bennet. Clements is currently the best player at his position on this team. The only one close is Evans. Clements is in the top 4-5 of CB's in this league ... some would argue in the top 3. Because he is in the top 3 at his position, he should be paid accordingly. Now do you see what I am saying? Yes, Peyton is paid the most. That is because he is the best player at his position.

  16. If you have a brain then use it. Come on. Wait and see what happens instead of jumping off a fricken bridge..

If you were told last season that the Bills would cut loose both safeties and start rookies what would you have said?

    All teams deal with turnover.

SD lost their starting QB and went 14-2.

Chicago lost their all pro Safety and DT. And went to the Superbowl.

You have to deal with loss..

    1. I'm not jumping off a bridge.

    2. I would have said that we would not make the playoffs. And we didn't.

    3. Yes they do. But some teams decide to keep good players when they have 30+ mill in cap space.

    4. SD already had a First Round Pick waiting for a few years ... and Brees did awesome in NO also.

    5. And lost.

I never said cut loose these guys because their are better players out there but you have to deal with change... Next year it will be 4 new players that we lose.

The Patriots lose players every year and somehow make the playoffs.

Sorry, I didn't realize that playoffs were the goal. I thought Marv said quite clearly that a SB win is our goal. The Patriots have not made the SB since Weiss, Crenell and a few others left.

  17. Assuming JP becomes a star next year... and JP locks down his left side allowing no sacks.

My point is you're trying to build a team not just retain a group of players. Start paying players salaries out of proportion to their team mates and watch the team crumble.

You mean like what Indi did ... oh wait. They have a SB ring.

  18. Dear NFL,

Some members of the twobillsdrive stadium wall would like to forfeit the season next year. We cannot compete. We suck. We think we are going to lose 4 defensive starters and the sky is falling. What the New Orleans Saints did was just impossible and we can never duplicate that. Our tremendous fan base has given up. We quit. We cant possibly replace a over 30 mlb, a 2nd string defensive end and a supposed shut down corner that is a money only player.

    Thank You

    The loyal?? Buffalo Bills Fanbase

    Dear IndyJay,

Many of the members at twobillsdrive stadium wall, are in fact die hard Bills fans. We simply do not like to lose sight of what a good franchise is, because of others who believe we can turn-around a new player in the same position every two years and hope to be successful. We are still Bills fans, but hey, while were at it, why don't we cut Losman, Evans, and McGahee in hopes of obtaining three players who may possibly be better. After all the Colts did 'yada yada yada'

    Thank You

    Someone who has a brain
