[Most dramatic sports moment you saw?]

Saw in person.  Jim Kelly's #12 being retired.     Kevin Everett's collision.      Local HS hoops team down 20 to start 4th qtr. in State Tournament semi-finals.  Tied the game and won in OT.  Won the championship the next night.

 

TV.  Laettners's shot.  Miracle on Ice.    Jack Nicklaus winning the 1986 Masters.

 

Radio.  Hearing Bill Mazeroski's HR to win the 1960 World Series.

The Dean brings up a very interesting point as how this idea is measured.

The top ten countries in population have the following breakdown.

5 claim soccer

3 claim cricket

1 claims American football

and China claims basketball as their most popular sport.

 

As far as TV viewership goes, soccer has to dominate as all the interest in the World Cup

and the UEFA telecasts.

We had a great day watching the  grandkids.

My nine year old grandson is musically talented and I told

him about the movie 1776.  The adaptation of the Broadway play.

We watched it on TMC and he loved it.

I did tell him that the Continental Congress did NOT  break into 

song and dance at various times.

Today he is singing the songs.

Last night we had a blast with "driveway"  fireworks.

Yankee hats and tee shirts were THE most worn items.

We had no recess.   No swings, jungle gyms.  However, there were "field days and Junior Olympics" for  nice weather days.

There were soccer contests pitting one class against another.

My kids think we played "Chase the dinosaur." given our advanced age.
