I understand the desire for a big, 1-tech to keep our small LBs clean and able to fly around. But the idea that we cant wait until waaaaay late in the draft to find some tub of lard who just has to stand there and take up space/blockers is ridiculous. Spend these valuable picks on athletes with skill. Take the fat guy later.

For more perspective on the rankings discussion from the other thread, a lot of folks had Jackson mocked/ranked as a late-1st/2nd round pick and we got him in the 3rd. So what do these folks really know?

The DT rankings were all over the map this year. No one knew squat. And each team also values them a little differently. No point in comparing to some arbitrary, amateur list.

Trey Amos, who plenty of this board wanted at #30 overall and who TBD picked at #30 overall in our first mock, just went #61 overall. So lets all pump our genius brakes.

To the point that the TBD brain trust picked TWO DTs with our first 2 picks in our mock draft.

Look at the DL run between where we traded to and where we started at 56. Beane saw the run coming and got out ahead of it.

So no drafting ANY DL early since everyone rotates? I cant keep up with all the posts in this thread, what position were you banging the table for that plays 80% of the snaps?

The DL run started with our pick, so looks like Beane was able to get out ahead of it and lock in the guy he wanted. Wasnt going to be anything left by 56. Still plenty of time to draft a big body in the middle.

I havent checked the big board but if any of CJ West, Jordan Phillips, Cam'Ron Jackson, Jay Toia, Nazir Stackhouse are avilable, we have PLENTY of time to pick a big guy.

Still a handful of quality 1-Techs on the board and a lot of draft left. Especially at DT this year. The rankings were all over the place.
