Maybe, but no more Defensive HCs. Just cant do it. With Josh, we'll continue to churn OCs every year or 2. I do wish McD had reached out to his old division rival after he got fired and offered him Frazier's replacement and turned the D over to him.

The opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy. Maybe they just dont care enough to be upset anymore since they know it wont change... (I know I'm being a bit emo/dramatic here, but...)

I appreciate the list because I hate the weak rebuttal of "Well WHO can you GUARANTEE will come in and win as head coach?!?" That isnt the winning argument folks think it is. Over 90% of this board had no idea who Sean McDermott was in January 2017. The bummer is, it's a sad list compared to what has been out there the last few years (Vrabel, Harbaugh, Payton, specifically).

Letting Edmunds walk was the right choice. Especially at his 4/$72M number. Bernard is a much more instinctual player than Edmunds will ever be. He just doesnt have the size to go with it. But at 4/$50M its a little easier to swallow. The good news is, we can get out of the Bernard contract pretty easily after 2026. And he isnt costing us a ton in the meantime. Still less than we're paying Samuel to be a healthy scratch.

Terry is incapable of making big changes now that Kim isnt in charge, or at least contributing. Losing her has put the Bills back into a purgatory. I expect no changes to be made. Especially not the Bills. Maaayyybe the Sabres since Terry thinks he's a hockey insider. But I think he's just focused on keeping status quo and taking care of Kim at home (not a knock on that). There's plenty to criticize with ownership, but I dont think it's fair to say he doesnt care. He cares, but with the Kim situation, his attention has been re-focused to home.

Players win for themselves. They win for each other. Plus, the last 5 years, Josh wins this division on his own. ONE division rival finally got a decent QB and a very good HC, and they just ate our lunch in our own stadium.

Can everyone just take a freakin breath?

Did we already miss the window with Josh
DrDawkinstein replied to BritishBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, as long as Josh is playing he has a window to win a Super Bowl. The problem is McDermott's window has closed to win as a HC. 2021 was the year and he directly BLEW IT with 13 seconds. Time to move on before we waste Josh's entire career. -
It's certainly a bit of both. But imo, the coaching has more issues than talent level. The lack of fundamentals is appalling. These guys are better football players than anyone on this board, have progressed from high school to major college programs and were good enough to get drafted to the NFL... and across the board, I'm to believe our defenders never learned how to breakdown and make an open field tackle? Or line up correctly on Offense (illegal formations), Defense (clearly Offside), and Special Teams (illegal formations)? Or is it just the bad guidance they're getting (or NOT getting)... The game planning is horrible or non-existent, not sure which is worse. But when you have fans trying to justify horrible game plans with "The Bills coaches know we're so good we dont want to show much against bad teams", and now we're LOSING those games, it's a problem. And then the schemes... especially the defense... it's the crappy, soft, outdated, wild-card-caliber scheme that dictates talent issues. Small LBs, CBs that can only play zone, who knows wtf we're looking for at DL... I'm not acquitting Beane. I've been a supporter (and even excuser), but at this point, if it means a change at HC then I'm for sacrificing Beane as well. You cant have that bad a track record in the first 2 rounds and survive. I'm absolutely disgusted today.
-
Even our top guys are playing poorly. Lost, confused, uninspired. And in all 3 phases. Offense, Defense and Special Teams. That is a major coaching issue that talent wont fix. And given our cap situation, there is no changing the talent level right now.
-
I like Beane but if it's the only way to make a HC change then I'm willing to sacrifice him as well. To the bold, 2 weeks in a row a young, hungry team beat us down and we looked bumbling and befuddled.

He should be in on 3rd down, and he shouldnt be blocking. It's that simple.

A Few Thoughts about the Falcons Game - Community Edition
DrDawkinstein replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This simple comparison tells the entire tale. Sure, they were only 5 picks apart. The big difference is: Worthy went at 28, the Bills original pick. KC traded up to get the top talent. Buffalo abdicated their position, and in those 5 picks, traded down twice, out of the 1st round completely, passed up on 3 other WRs... and took "a guy" Even worse that we held the original position, and helped KC leap frog us. Huge huge difference in philosophy. -
Doesnt seem to matter who is out there when practically the entire team is showing up unprepared, undisciplined, and unmotivated.

If I'm Pegula I tell McDermott TONIGHT that Babich is fired first thing in the morning and McDermott is taking over the defense and I MUST see improvement. If McDermott protests I tell him I'm making this decision for him so I dont have to make a decision on him right now. But that decision will depend on how much the defense improves and how far we go in the playoffs. Perfect time to make the change going into the bye week. McD's last chance.

We will never win a Super Bowl with Joe Brady
DrDawkinstein replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Doesnt matter since McDefense will make sure we never make it to a Super Bowl to lose. -
10/13/2025 Bills at Falcons - Post game thread
DrDawkinstein replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
What a ***** crock. Wasting the greatest player in Buffalo Bills history with bush league coaching. Absolutely disgusting showing. Again. -
As has been said a lot the past week, Sean McDermott is the James Franklin of the NFL. I'll see myself out now. Maybe he did hire good recruiting coaches. The problem is, there is no recruiting anymore. You get players as good as your boosters are willing to pay in NIL money. That's it.

There's a history. A definite drinking history. These guys just get away with it a bit more due to who they are. There's been a few stories coming out on podcasts this week that revolve around "this guy can be an issue at times when he gets a few drinks in him". It just hadnt gone this far before. He was dating a high schooler while playing for the Jets, so not a great starting point as it is.

Behind the Scenes: Prep on Allen’s Helmet
DrDawkinstein replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
No idea on the last question of how difficult it is to remove, but I've seen a number of different BTS shows (Hard Knocks, Quarterback, All or Nothing, etc) and have seen teams all doing this in-house. The helmets come blank and teams apply stickers. Kinda crazy that it isnt machined. -
He's a true Head Coach and Belichik-ian disciple who knows the rule book inside and out and all the loop holes to edge out advantages, he makes very good in-game decisions, his teams show up almost every game fired up, playing physically, and executing well. He coached a Ryan Tannehill lead team to the #1 seed. And he has 3 Super Bowl rings as a player so he knows what it takes to get it done. McD has none of that.
