  1. I hear Philly has a competent LT. He has ups and downs, but he's competent. Maybe we could trade... like a late first and some change... nah, competent LT's are hard to find. They'd probably turn us down.

You just don't get it. Peters did not want to be here. His antics during the first holdout told us that. If memory serves our last offer to him was in the 10mil per year range. That is not exactly small change. He wanted out. Quit blaming it all on the FO.

  2. I have one feeling I would like to express and then I will leave it for thought.....

I never worry what our offense is going to do when they get the ball after a kickoff or punt.....no matter if the ball is at the 50 or the 5

I start growing increasingly nervous as we get closer and closer to the end zone........

and then this offense shows me why I should feel that way....it is almost like DJ TRIES to find ways not to score touchdowns and thinks field goals are just so much cooler.....UGG

Excuse me, but DJ is not calling the plays or audibilizing at the line. Any dolt can see that if you don't execute you won't score. Quit playing madden football where you do it all. Watch the tivo if you have it and you will see where the players mistakes kill us, not the plays being called.

  3. For the young ones, rivalries come and go. A little history may be needed. All four teams in our division were AFL teams, Miami being the last.

The patriots* were our first rivalry, with the New york Titans (jets) a close second during the 60's.

Miami was an expansion team that we didn't care about until Shula turned them into a Super team in the 70's, during which time we we always fall short, much as we do this decade with the Pats*.

During the 80's we were so pathetic through the early years we really didn't have much of a rivalry with anyone.

Then the late 80's and 90's arrived, a 12 yr run of success against everyone, especially Miami. Beating Shula and Marino consistently renewedthe rivalry. Payback was sweet.

Now we are at the low end trying to remove the dominance of the Pats*, our original rival. Unfortunately we maybe one to two years removed.

  4. to unveil the real offense. Ever since the firings and releasing of coaches and players, this team has had three games to get things figured out. AVP should now be able to develop a game plan with the first 15 plays scripted. TE should be prevented from audibilizing until we get through the script. It time to dictate to the defense, not take what they give you. Execute and let them know that you are the dominator.

Play #1. WR Crossing pattern with tight end long up the middle.

#2. play action to Lynch, flare to lynch in flat.

#3. TD to TO up the seam.

  5. I have an idea. Since TE only likes to throw to tight ends and running backs, why don't we line Owens and Evans up at the tight end spot and have them run tight end routes. Then we can line tight ends out wide and let them catch 3 passes a game. Or we could line Freddy out wide, have Evan's run a screen pass and have TO lined up at tight end.

We could also run crisscross routes with the tight ends, using illegal picks.

This will be Henne's first start and I'm pretty sure he'll be under fire all day long. We haven't beaten an AFC East team in almost 2 years, but I say we get it done this week and drop the Phins to 0-4. Wouldn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

This is the week we showcase TO and LE. Especially with BeastMode playing tag team with fast freddy.

  7. It is time for the offensive players to have a players only meeting to get the air clear. If TO or TE or LE are going to be true leaders, they need to meet behind closed doors, and air their grievances. TO has been on playoff teams and would have the stature behind closed doors to wake this team up. Explode in your teammates faces, not in public, otherwise pack your bags and go home.

  8. Sunday is our breakout game, as it was for miami last year. The dolphins are just not that good. yes they will try to run the wildcat, but for some reason it's not totally successful, otherwise they would use it even more than 10 -15 plays. My only concern is they may attempt to pass from it this week with white in there.

  9. i agree....i've noticed this the last 3 years. The strenth and conditioning coach should be fired.

That's right strength and conditioning will keep us from broken legs, broke or torn ligaments in the thumb, broken arms from getting into the pileup, torn up knees from other players rolling up the back off your legs. If it was hamstrings, pulled muscles, cramps, i would agree, but its actual honest injuries from hard contact. Football.

  10. I wonder if "No Huddle" is written in stone. Would appear against a team like New Orleans, they want to keep the ball away from them as much as possible. A standard offense that controls ball, eats time combined with a rainy day might be best option for upcoming game. Giving Saints ball recipe for a fifty spot and full wall implosion.

Huddling would be counter productive imo, as it gives the DC time to substitute on down and distance. OTH, the "no huddle" slowed down would help control clock, but also can be run off quickly to prevent substitutions. Did anyone notice the numerous "injuries" on TB defensive players during the game

  11. I watched the Saint/Eagles game yesterday and there were a few things that I noticed.

First, Brees was targeting his TEs early and often. They weren't running the ball that much early, and they had a lot of success getting the ball underneath.

Secondly, when Brees was harassed, it was because of coverage in the secondary. It wasn't becasue the Eagles were sending extra guys. It was because the coverage in the secondary threw the timing off of some plays.

Third, Brees is a short guy. His interception was a result of a DLineman getting his hands up and batting the ball down. The Bills need to get their hands up in the passing game.

Fourth, the Saints took advantage of turnovers to start the second half. It was a pretty close game late in the second quarter, however, the combination of some poor coaching by ANdy Reid, along with some TOs early in the second half changed the game big time.

One of the biggest mistakes the Eagles made, was when they had the ball deep in their own territory with 1:32 remaining in the second quarter. They had a third and long. They ran the ball on 1st and 2nd down, forcing NO to take 2 time outs with hopes that they would get enough time to score before the half ended. Andy Reid, then called a pass play that was incomplete, stopping the clock and forcing the Eagles to punt to NO, with a lot of time on the clock and 1 TO remaining. They went on to score before the half, changing what was a fairly close game into a pretty big advantage for NO and forcing the Eagles to play catch-up with a backup QB the rest of the game.

The Eagles also had a lot of success running the wildcat as well. I'm not sure if the Bills would be so inclined to do so, but success can be had.

    Thanks, nice update.

  12. I really worry about this one. That said, if the Bills pull it off, it'd probably be their biggest win since at least 2007.

The Bills' pass rush looks fairly anemic to me, particularly in the second half (they seem to be capable of making plays early on). Maybe I missed it yesterday, but the defensive ends did nothing. When the rush was weak, someone was always open. The Saints' passing attack is the best in the league by a country mile too. It's a nonconference game so a loss wouldn't be crushing, but they need to finally beat a good team. Tampa sucks, and it was the home opener to boot.

The early forecast looks like rain, but with very little wind: http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/spor...NY1071?dayNum=6

The Bills need all the help from Mother Nature that they can get, of course. Nice weather favors good passing offenses.

i worry about every game. Yes, TB may be a bad footbal team, just now, but we still outplayed them and did it going away. Unlike the NE game where we outplayed them, then beat ourselves. NO has a very high powered O, which means you either have to stop it with turnovers, or outscore it. The second although possible is not probable. The first will require INT's, and fumbles 3+2 imho.

The pass rush is pushing the pocket, for the most part, up the middle. Time to throw early in the game by the opposing QB has been shortened. Later in the game we appeared to be gassed against NE, and went to a blitzing scheme against TB.

I would attribute much of our defensive success this week to an offense that moved the football and is becoming unpredictable.

Look for big things this week. Early safety blitzes would be my guess.

  13. Ok, so we've gotten through week 2. We've seen a lot in those games, including some pretty major injuries. Does anyone want to revise their predictions?

    9-7 and probably no playoffs.

Can agree on most, but remember the jets Defense is playing against slower offenses, therefore they are able to substitute freely. By the 18th this O should be clicking on 7 of 8 cylinders, keeping their basic D on the field far longer. i look for a split. and a payback win over Tennessee. 11-5 playoffs
