  1. Last time I checked, wasn't Brohm cut from the Packers????? He couldnt even make it as a 3rd stringer there. Furthermore, Brohm wasn't exactly a world beater in his start last season.....also, Brohm did not win the QB competition during camp, he didn't even come in 2nd place...you guys need to relax with all of this back up qb talk...its ridiculous....Gailey is the coach and its in his best interest to start the best guy for the job.....thats why TE is the qb...simple as that....if Gailey felt someone else was better they would be starting

No he wasn't cut, and Green Bay matched our offer in an effort to keep him. I know facts are a problem, but at least try to get them straight.

  2. I know what you're trying to get at, but he's a good pass-rusher. If Meredith was "getting beat consistently," Trent would have been sacked at least once, or even hurried.

True enough. Just being cute. However, I don't believe we were sacked in the game. rushed yes, but at least the QB didn't become a basketball.

  3. The proper play calling sets up one play to the next and even in within a very basic game plan Chan Gailey still showed why he's the man.

We have a long way to go, but I truly believe Chan Gailey has the Buffalo Bills pointed in the right direction.

With injured players coming back this week, I can't wait to see the game.

  4. I watched the game in pain and the first series for offence was decent. As I continued to watch Edwards he has less and less time to throw the ball.

Amen. Someone who saw what I saw. Amazing how the skins defense went from vanilla to a little more sophisticated against a vanilla Offense.

  5. Meredith played RT last year, although he wasn't a major problem the other night, as he kept Orakpo off the stat sheet (except for an assisted tackle), and Chambers, while he started last year (due to injury), was horrible last year and the other night. Howard is an UDFA rookie. So yes, there are excuses.

he couldn't have kept Orakpo off the stat sheet. He's a stud HOF'er don't you know

  6. Don't lecture us like two year olds.

I remember him saying that and I concur. You have to agree with that statement. Here is where I take issue with the coach. He prompltly says that and basically does little to upgrade the offensive line. Hummmmm, he reconizes a major need of the team but does nothing but draft Wang in the 5th round and pick up a medicore RT too. I do believe actions speak louder than words. In this case, it is clearly evident. I don't understand what the new regime was thinking...So you can listening to the coach all you want...

Then stop acting like a two year old.

  7. Starters more? Good Lord the starting O played almost the entire first half. I think the starting D was out there that long as well but I am not sure. How much more do you want the starters to play in a preseason game?

Which starting O would that be? 2 OLine starters. No starting RB's after first drive? Just asking.

  8. Watched the game on nfl.com preseason live. Nice Feed. hooked it up to my Bigscreen. Was Great. Able to pause/rewind at any time. Think I'll get Rewind for season as we won't be getting many Bills game in Florida this year being in the Jacksonville market.

Been rewatching game today. Two defenders stood out LB Coleman - cut. Corner should have had two picks for TD's - took his eye off the first one. On second one looked away from their Qb at the goalline because he lost his receiver. just long enough for grossman to fire the ball past him.

  9. Thank you. I really want to like Trent as well.

I just wish he'd show some fire out there and throw the ball sooner and with more decisiveness.

it's amazing the trent bashing from last night. No one seems to even pay attention to the first drive. Had he come out then everyone would say he looked good. Sharp crisp throws, on target, playyers in stride. Instead all focus is on drive two. Defenders in his face on long ball to johnson, but overthrew him. Interception thrown in Evans direction while on the run trying to get the ball to the outside, whiles he was backing away. Evans was unaware of what was happening, because of his move to get free ( that's why he never came back) If the completion had been made accolades all over the place. Finally, spiller wouldn't have been there trying to make the block if jackson and lynch weren't injured. Just saying

  10. just rewatched some replays of plays before interception, and interception.

Throw to johnson down left side a shade to long. Trent let it fly while completely surrounded, had he been able to step into it possible connection and TD.

Throw to Evans. TE kept head up and saw his receiver and let it fly as LE was moving to outside. At the point he released D. Hall had just recovered turning toward Evans in full stride. Had TE been able to step into throw instead of away, probably more zip. However, i don't think it would have mattered, Hall had full head of steam and would have made intercept. Evans was going wrong way and could not reverse in time. Finally, Spiller missing block caused the whole play to blow up. If he gets a body on the defender TE makes a clean throw and completion IMHO.

  11. Go to the Miami Herald. The fins have their starting center and guard out injured. CB's injured. Every team has players that get injured early in TC. Some more serious than others. Huggins came down on his shoulder wrong. Easely landed awkwardly and messed up his Knee I believe. Hardy, well I don't know if he will ever get away from the injury bug.

  12. We simply dont have to OL talent to complete with the playoff teams. The LT situation has gotten a lot of press. Hangartner struggled mightily last season. Wood/Levitre are still young. We will wait and see about Green.

Untill we have more talent our hands are pretty much tied.

Please define talent as you understand it. Hangartner had to work with rookies on either side of him, even after the OC was canned to start the season last year. The rookies are second year players now who's skill set should be a whole lot better. Do we have pro bowlers at the tackles? No. Do they have talent? Depends on your definition.

  13. I agree with this 100%, and I have been among Trent's biggest detractors. I wanted Gailey and Nix to cut him when they assumed control of the team.

I'm just allowing for the possibility, however small it might be, that after a few weeks in camp with Gailey, Trent becomes a different QB with more confidence. I've never heard Trent say "I need to fire it in there and be accurate with it" before. I'm just saying that this is an encouraging response, not the bland "we need to keep working hard" nonsense that Trent usually offers up for the media...

I mean, what's the point of having all these practice sessions, watching film, having meetings, if it doesn't mean that some players improve. Gailey and his staff, after all, are known for being great teachers...

It's not just TC, Trent has been positive and comfortable with CG from the beginning. I hope we are seeing the maturation of an NFl QB. In the days before Elway and Marino, QB's usually weren't ready until year 3 or 4. let's hope this is the beginning of something really good.

  14. Instead of just going through the motions and not revealing anything to the opposition, don't you think this would be a good year to really practice the playbook and take full advantage of these games. Maybe hide some of the running schemes since that will be the majority of the playbook but how about really giving Trent as much real game experience as possible.

This is the first season ever for me where I have zero expectations and my main thought process is just improving each game. It is a win win this season as this is Trent's last chance. If he actually turns it around and can run this offense, great. If he goes down in a ball of flames, 2011 draft will be the most important one since Kelly retired.

I remember when a new coach thought it was important for his team to learn how to win. That's why I liked CG's comment

  15. Unfortunately, can't find it now, but CG made a comment last week about how he was going to spend Sunday last. He mentioned that he and the staff were going to be doing a little gameplanning for this week.

I thought you didn't gameplan in preseason, you just go out wing on plays you know without rhyme or reason. :D

Of course, that is what we were used to under DJ.

Game planning, who woulda thunk. How novel. <_<

  16. The bills should have known from day one that schobel wasn't going to play linebacker in a 3-4. No brainer. Knowing that they should have made a deal well before the draft.

Wake up. He announced las season before it was over that he was considering retirement. The cards were already on the table. With that out there how many teams do you think were going to trade for him?

  17. That still doesn't make him a starting quality NFL QB.

At times, given time, he has looked capable. However, I wonder if he has fully recovered from the concussions. I mean this as will he be so nervous of on rushing defenders that he will lose poise and confidence.

One other item (I believe critical) he will have a comprehensive gameplan going into a game, and not drawing it up as we go.

  18. Came visiting last year. I used to work for Erie County Savings on Main St. downtown before the lightrail to Amherst (late '70s). What a disappointing mess? The Main St. mall used to be full of good stores. There was AM&A's, Hengerers and other stores. Somewhere between the early '80s and now, it all died.

The original plans for the light rail included a glass covered corridor on Main throughout a major portion of downtown to protect the users from rain and snow.( Temperature contolled - obviously that did not happen).

The major steel and automotive related industries moved out, as well as others. Only most of it was because of government moves. ( environment, taxes, etc.) Not Unions this time. We once had a highly productive workforce that compensated for higher wages. ( More production kept price per item down while increasing wages ).

Unfortunately the city never capitalized on being a distribution and service centered area to compensate. If Buffalo or NYS are ever going to recover you must dump all politicians wit 6 or more years of total govt service and drop your tax structure to bring back industries, otherwise economic prosperity will never return.

  19. Miami 1:00 W (season opener against the fins. I have to count this one as a W)

    @ Green Bay 1:00 L

    @ New England 1:00 L

    NY Jets 1:00 L

    Jacksonville 1:00W

    Bye

    @ Baltimore 1:00 L

    @ Kansas City 1:00 W

    Chicago 1:00 L

    Detroit 1:00 W

    @ Cincinnati 1:00 L

    Pittsburgh 1:00 L

    @ Minnesota 1:00 L

    Cleveland 1:00 W

    @ Miami 1:00 L

    New England 1:00 L

    @ NY Jets L

This seems to me to be best case scenario. 5-11 maybe 6-10. More likely 4-12.

1-5 in the div is giving our opponents too much credit. The jets did not improve their run game imo, which means reliance a 2nd year QB who did not light up the league as a rook. look for so-so second year. Typically, the light does not go on until the third or fourth year if they last that long.

Henne for Miami is also going to have to prove himself. I think their running game is about to run out of gas, too many miles on all four wheels.

NE is entering the end of their run, just as Buffalo did 10 years ago. The difference is we had little to no offense, and they have little to no defense.

    3-3 in div possibly 4-2
