  1. So are you saying Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino was?
  2. My brother teaches 7th & 8th graders, but it seems (from what I've heard him say) that he has been able to lay down the law, yet still be friends with the kids and earn their respect. If that's true, I hope we find a lot more teachers like him. Of course, he's my brother, so I don't believe much he says. Don't ask me what he says about most of the parents, though.
  3. It's a great read if you enjoy his sense of humor, and I love it. I just wish I had more time to finish reading it. When I do, I WILL update my signature line to include one of his quotes.
  4. Land of Confusion - Genesis Keep it Between the Lines - Ricky Van Shelton Winds of Change - Scorpions Right Now - Van Halen Whiskey Lullaby - Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss There's got to be a "Weird Al" Yankovic one in there, too, but I can't pick out just one right now. I showed my 13-year old the video to "You Give Love a Bad Name" by Bon Jovi. Terrible video, but since his images of Jon Bon Jovi are MUCH more recent than that, his reaction was amusing.
  5. Amazing, or stupid? I don't care if you CAN do it, what good comes from it?
  6. The phrase "the biggest difference" doesn't say anything about direction. Is it improvement, or detriment? At this point, my choice could easily be the biggest difference, but in either direction. If JP ends up taking losses and Willis can't go forward, then the difference is in the wrong direction.
  7. Didn't all geologists believe the world was flat at one time, too? All I'm saying is that the pope knows more about religion than I do. Therefore, I'm more inclined to believe him than my wife when it comes to religion. There's a higher probability of the pope being right than my wife (Thank God she doesn't read this board).
  8. No. All research begins with a theory. The proving and disproving is where you need the open mind. You need to be able to accept that you are wrong. You do not have to be neutral going in. You do need to distance yourself from your beliefs during the research and analysis so that you do not bias the research. If you were studying biology, wouldn't you believe biologists who have studied biology their entire adult life? The pope is the biologist in this example. The current pope has studied theology well longer than I've been alive. Why wouldn't I believe him? I believe in a merciful God who understands that people make mistakes. I don't think disagreeing with one precept is grounds for condemnation, unless it is egregious. Which beliefs are most important to follow? Only God knows that for sure.
  9. Isn't that why Big Cat & his college buddies are/were 'studying'? To stretch the imagination?
  10. I don't know that I'll physically make it to ANY home games, but I'll be there in spirit! I'll probably head to my mother-in-law's (did I just state that???) for the Panthers game, because I'm sure it won't be televised here in DC, and she lives in NC.
  11. If traffic and congestion are an issue, you may want to avoid Alexandria and Falls Church. The other posts about homes are correct. 8 years ago I bought a 3 bedroom split level home on 1/4 acre in Fairfax for 160k in a buyers' market. The tax assessment this year is 350k and I've been told that's usually less than selling price. Plus, it's more of a seller's market now (though not as much so as 6 months ago). I don't know what type of nursing your spouse does, but there are several hospitals in the Alexandria-Arlington-Falls Church-Fairfax area (Fairfax County). Best of luck to you. Oh, the most important factors - there's a Bills bar called Grevey's in Falls Church and another called Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Herndon. Minotaur
  12. The correct answer is, of course, "I love my wife, so none of the above." If you were asking me to rate beauty, however, it's a toss-up between Linda and Parminder. My wife won't watch the show anymore, though. She says it reminds her too much of when I was in my coma after the brain hemorrhage 3.5 years ago. My choices are therefore 1)watch it elsewhere in the house or 2)watch "Without a Trace" (yawn) in the bedroom with her and fall asleep during it. Since I need the sleep anyway, I usually choose #2. 13. Currently: 33.7 Expectancy: 78.3. I didn't see questions on stroke, though. There were stress questions, but not all strokes are related to stress. Mine (3.5 years ago) was related to a congenital (from birth) defect no one knew about. I can't imagine my disability (left side weakness, walk funny with brace, substantially decreased dexterity in left hand) adds to my life expectancy. Minotaur
  14. I agree. Here's how I see it playing out: 1) AZ has 1-2 running backs they're "gunning" for. 2) Round 1 - Is on of those backs available? If Yes, no deal w/the Bills. If no, wait. The rest depends on #2 being a 'no.' 3a) The Bills have a player pegged for the Cards' 2nd round pick. 3b) Assuming no to #2, AZ has another back in mind at their 2nd round pick. Is he there? If yes, no trade. If no, AND the Bills' player is available, the deal is consummated. Make sense? Minotaur
  15. Home listening on the radio. A girl stopped by to pick up the purse she left in my car as a few friends had gone out the day before. I asked her out. We're now married with 3 kids. That was a GREAT day!
  16. If the Bills are interested in a particular player with AZ's 2nd round pick, doesn't it make sense to wait in order to see if that player is still available with that pick? I see this trade going down on draft day, if at all. Minotaur
