Sure, asking me to back up my claim is fine, and I'll be happy to do so (unlike yourself). Recently (June 24th), Representative Jerry Moran gave a speech to the Subcommittee on Health about the availability of Health Care in his district, a very rural area. In his speech, he noted that Seven Kansas communities have access to no pharmacies at all, and 32 counties in Kansas have only one pharmacist in the entire county. According to the Journal of the American Pharmacy Association, the population-to-pharmacist ratio in rural America is 66 per 100,000, versus 78 per 100,000 in urban areas. According to a study by Donald Klepser, Ph.D., Liyan Xu, M.S., Fred Ullrich, B.S., and Keith Mueller, Ph.D., there has been a net loss of 503 local pharmacy services in rural areas. Among those that were open in May 2006 and later closed, 158 were the only pharmacy serving their community at the time, and no other pharmacy replaced them. O RLY? Changing your tune now, eh? Where are these millions of other equivalent contraceptive options? Where's the data backing up your GUARANTEE?

My arguments are in many prior posts in this thread. Feel free to take a refresher, then once you understand what you are talking about, get back to me. Because, you douche, the person who makes the claim has to provide proof of it being true. It's how debating works. Look it up on Wikipedia. Have you found any information about pharmacies in rural America yet? Ah yes, the good ol' perfect use failure rate difference. Do you know the actual difference in failure rates? How about the effect of convenience on the different birth control methods? Forcing pharmacists to sell birth control is totally bankrupting America.

White Americans no longer a majority by 2042

Perhaps if they had taken birth control you wouldn't feel threatened by their cultures. -
You're the one making the claim that you can just drive to another pharmacy without an issue. Back it up. I already have, you've just ignored it. List the million other options that are equivalent to birth control. (By the way, BC has other applicable uses, like Ramius mentioned above. My gf, for example, has really bad acne due to hormonal issues if she's not on Birth Control. But hey, keep ignoring that point just like you have a bunch of other ones).

If having "the freedom to operate their business the way they like" as you put it is a right, then every profession in America is oppressed. GUARANTEE it eh? Got any proof to back that up? Do you have any knowledge at all of the availability of pharmacies in rural America, or are you just spouting ideological bull sh--?

I love the freedom buzzword as much as the next guy, but you're valuing one individual's moral views above the overall good of a pragmatic solution to a widespread societal problem, in order to accomplish a small portion of choice. Yet, you have no problem ignoring the moral issues associated with unwanted children. Yes, the problems with the health care system in this country are due to pharmacists being forced to sell birth control pills. Makes total sense, doesn't it?

God damn that's funny, Mr. Correlation = Causation. -
Calling birth control a non-essential medication is an extremely naive way of looking at human sexuality, same with being against other contraceptives. People aint gonna stop having biological needs or fulfilling them simply because someone took away their birth control pill. Do you want to impose a bunch of unwanted babies on society? How about the quality of life of those children? There is absolutely zero logical reasoning behind the restriction of contraceptives by anyone, but rather an emotional reaction against it due to old traditions.

Yeah, that's after the split (we actually have individual leases on our bedrooms, so its billed to us $409 each). It does include television/internet/etc. though.

You won't get an argument from me here. The point of this post was one of pointing out one aspect of what's wrong with AKC's whole argument.

Good for him.

that if people inflated their tires properly it would help out with gas consumption. "We can save all the oil that they would save on drilling if everyone was just inflating their tires, and getting regular tune-ups, we could actually save just as much". Also, you are against drilling for oil because it wouldn't cause all that much dent in oil prices, yet that argument doesn't apply to the effects of gas consumption from tire inflation?

He likes pragmatic solutions to problems. Can't say I disagree. -
Oooh boy, that must mean we can't do both, right? Our only options are to do one or the other. Its very easy math. There are 18 billion barrels contained in offshore drilling. It would take 270 years before we reached that point if everyone that had under inflated tires inflated them, and we'd empty offshore drilling well before that. How the hell would you enforce tire inflation anyway? Once again: He said you could save just as much. He was wrong. Nice try at spin though with the whole "10 year" thing.

Apartments close to campus here run about that much. Its still idiotic though to live there - I live in a 3/3 apt that is a 15 minute bus ride away (when its not rush hour), and I pay $409/mo.

Buy a 360. -
Yes, there have been plenty of experts saying we would save as much as offshore drilling.

Here is where my non-libertarian side comes out. Allowing people to not dispense essential medication based on some silly view of morality comes at a great cost to society. And yes, the pill is an essential medication. I sure as hell don't want to pay the costs of having many more kids running around, and I don't want to see babies put into situations with people who can't afford it (a much, much bigger wrong than selling someone a contraceptive). Since many human behaviors are based off of convenience, it is conceivable that in the Bible Belt all pharmacies in an area will not sell it, and instead of traveling a ways, people just fore-go it.

What the hell does UT have to do with this?
