  1. Went back and watched Duke's CFL highlights again.  Speedster? No, but that does not mean he cannot get open. He uses his size/strength/timing to block out defenders and get himself in a superior position to get the ball. Saw this time and again in the CFL vids and saw it again in his two preseason TDs.  He timed his leaps perfectly to beat decent albeit 3rd string defense and go up to where only he could get the ball.  Don't see anything at all wrong with a tough, high pointing, surehanded possession receiver who is also a willing blocker.  Is he as "fun" to watch as McKenzie? Nope. The human joystick bopping around out there is entertaining, but here's the rub: In his 85 NFL touches, McKenzie has fumbled the ball 8 times.  That's troubling.  Critics decry Williams as JAG, but is McKenzie any less so?  That being said, I'd love for the Bills to keep them both.

  2. Tired of the "running start" argument.

Think "Big Physical Possession WR" who knows how to use his size and leverage to beat coverage. His timing and positioning when covered and when going up for contested balls is what stood out to me in the highlights. Dude is big-bodied and physical and knows how to work it to his advantage.

Williams is by no means a lock to make the team, but at 6'3" and 225, he brings a different skillset than the other WR hopefuls.

I won’t cut him either.  But Moulds was sitting behind HOFers.  The last 2 years have been some of the worst group of receivers in team history.

Sitting behind 1 HOFer.  96 and 97 was Andre Reed at the tail end of his career getting the ball from a past-his prime Jim Kelly and then Todd Collins.....

Quinn Early, Steve Tasker (as a WR) Russell Copeland and Chris Brantley are not HOF material.

Yes, I know, 2 different players.  My point is that you don't cut a guy on year 2 of a rookie contract because there is a learning curve for WRs and year 3 is often when it "clicks" and you get to see the player's true potential.

I'll give it one more year and hope for the best.

    Looks good in cut up

cfl is such a weird game though with all that movement presnap

I watched the CFL highlight video carefully.  He was not always in motion presnap/getting a head start.  Even from a standing start, what stood out to me is that he knows how and when to position his body  to "get open".  He is beating guys in pretty tight coverage with body control rather than speed.

I am in no way anointing this guy as a day 1 starter, but he does display an interesting skillset.

I'd be happy to see him as a situational #3 or an H--back.  Anything above that is gravy.

  6. Said this before, saying it again. The best ability is AVAILABILITY.  Reilly never got a shot because he can't stay healthy.  If you can't get through preseason (or two) without tweaking a hamstring, you are not gonna see the field. Dude is constantly banged up.

Tough?  Yes.  Good hands?  Yes.  Good routes?  Yes. Fast enough?  Yes.  Available to play?  Nope sorry.  Broken Rib.  How about now?  Nope bad hammy.

At best, he is a fringe player who doesn't know how to take a hit.

  7. In short, did Peterman's weaker arm prompt the coaching staff to stick with big, possession-type receivers heading into the season?

My theory (really flimsy, but there you go) is that McDermott and Daboll thought that Peterman would be an effective game-manager type QB using short and intermediate routes and gave him the big, tall, receivers to fit that game plan.

Clearly, it did not work out that way, but you gotta wonder....

deonte was great at running out of bounds just short of the flag.

decent hands and speed but not the brightest bulb. mediocre move.

Looked like a mediocre move the last time they brought him in, and all he did was put up the best numbers for a Bills WR in 2017.

Dude was an unexpected bright spot, and yet somehow you find a way to go negative.

17 of his 27 catches were for first downs.

  9. Funny thing about Brandon Reilly.  I was gonna come into this post and shut down the Reilly rallying that goes on in almost every WR thread, but then I went and looked at Reilly's Twitter account.

Supports the Bills, the Sabres, Beane, McDermott, Allen, etc in his Tweets and Retweets.

Even though he is not on the team, he is still a better team player than KB.  Either he is a genuinely good guy or has a good PR manager whispering in his ear.

With KB looking sooooo bad, I guess that even I can get behind cutting KB and signing Reilly.
