Best case scenario-the Bills could win four.  It'll be tough to beat NE in New England, and the Ravens are awfully tough right now.  I think the Bills should beat the Jets, They can probably beat the Broncos and Steelers.  Dallas is a big question mark.  Dallas is not a bad team but they have been pretty disappointing this season and I wouldn't just write off the Dallas game as a loss.

Umm, no.  Best case scenario is Bills win 6 and take the division as NE fades down the stretch.   Any given Sunday.

I think McDermott will at least slow down Lamar and he's got extra time to figure out how to keep him in the pocket.  First things first, need to smash the other Allen at home next Sunday

    Interesting article about this.  https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/theres-a-blueprint-for-stopping-lamar-jackson-but-teams-arent-using-it/

  2. Best record we've had since 1993. That's 26 years.  While I would love to see a complete game in all facets, I'll take "win ugly" over and over again.

The offense did enough. 24 points is just fine by me.

The defense did enough--yes we got gashed by the run, but it was mostly between the 20's.  We shut Washington out of the endzone.

Josh Allen did enough.  14 of 20 and some well placed balls.  People are griping about 3 missed passes.  Yeah, I'd like to see an 85% completion rate too, but come on.  No dumb passes.  No hero ball. Connected when he needed to.

Singletary did more than enough on an off day for Gore.  I'll take it.

Just to reiterate, best season so far in 26 years.

1 loss to a dominant NE. 1 bad loss to Philly, a team that is starting to come to life and has a winning record.  I'll take it.

  3. Levi will be fine. Fitzpatrick was dropping dimes into coverage with great touch and accuracy. Even good corners get beaten on occasion when a QB is hot.  Wallace has been steady and even spectacular on a few occasions and is getting the job done.

Williams going 6 catches for 83 yards, no touchdowns and a fumble is an OK day for a WR.  His big gainer (35 yards)  was perfectly delivered by Fitz to beat pretty good coverage.  Not really a reason to be down on Wallace.

  4. Congrats to Duke for working and grinding and blocking during preseason and then continuing to do so on the practice squad. Didn't look great in training camp, but when the pads went on and the hitting began, it was game on. There are speed guys, finesse guys and human joysticks.  He is none of those. He's a physical guy. A (dirty word on the modern NFL, but I'm gonna say it) "possession" receiver.  Props to the scouting staff for finding an off the radar, left field pickup.  Now he gets his much delayed chance in the real NFL. Will he succeed? No clue, but I'm an optimist who loves a good underdog story.

  5. Nice game by Sweeney.  35 yards and showed really good drive blocking on a Singletary run.

Knox:  1 yard.  Nothing to report in terms of blocking.

Oliver: 2 tackles.  I'll take it.

    Ford:  Struggled.

  6. Gotta wonder what the coaches saw...............or didn't see..............regarding McCoy in training camp.  Warning bells were going off with his atrocious season last year, but I'm still a little shocked.

Lighting a candle for my guy Duke Williams.  Nice try, great effort.  Gotta give the Bills credit for looking in unexpected places---CFL and Rugby.  Hope to see Williams on the practice squad, but even if he doesn't at least he made preseason interesting.

  7. Still looking for an answer on this.  Is just a body size/mass thing that allows for a quicker change of direction for the WR?

Regarding Dawson Knox: Combine stats are great, but the best ability is availability. Hopefully his hammy is all better and he can actually show something in this upcoming game.  We have really only seen him in unpadded practices and some decent blocking last week.  I wanna see some receiving reps.

  8. This post is a corollary to the "which WR do we keep" discussion.  There are a few posters who have said that Duke Williams will be the odd man out because Croft/Knox/Sweeney can do everything Williams can and therefore a bigger possession type WR is not needed. I get the point, but it got me thinking.

Any experts out there who want to address this argument?  Are there scenarios where a WR of this type is better suited than a TE for a  formation, concept or specific play?

  9. No.  Zay is in zero danger of being cut because of his draft position, college pedigree, etc.  That's not my choice, I'm just being realistic.  If I had to choose between Duke Williams and Zay Jones, then Jones would be packing his bags.  Or Williams vs McKenzie.  Bye McKenzie, I read your bags are already packed.  Check my post history, I am Duke Williams fanboy from the get go.  For all the adversity Williams has been through, when he hits the field he looks like he belongs.

  10. I am hoping that Zay makes the year 3 leap.  In my opinion he is is zero danger of being cut, but this is very much a make or break year for him.  My biggest frustration with Jones is that he manages to get open, and the ball is delivered on the money, and he make an easy catch look difficult.  Too many bobbles, double clutches and outright drops.  Too many times where he should fight for the ball and just doesn't.  For all his speed, size and agility, he has not put it all together yet.  I know this is really intangible, but to me he often does not look confident making plays.  I often wonder if all those drops in year 1 got to him mentally and he has yet to shake it off.

If he can get out of his own head, Zay can be a really good WR.  Will this be the year?
