  1. Everyone needs to remember a few things: 1)Except for the Arizona game, we've lost close games to good teams, 3 of those on the road. 2)The game is 10% physical and 90% mental, it's hard to imagine the players aren't playing with some fire in them after reading all the gloom here. I'm amazed at how quick some of you are to write off this team and wonder if that lack of enthusiasm by fans has anything to do with teams losing. We've got another MNF game in Buffalo for the 2nd time in 14 years, if there's ever a time to breakout, change momentum, wow a nationally televised audience, show out, excite fans..... it's NOW!

I would be excited if it weren't for the lackluster play of out team.

Sorry, but watching them the past few weeks, I don't see the "fire" you speak of.

    I'm not a downer, just a realist.

  2. Trent has had plenty of time to throw the ball. Don't know which games you have been watching.

Oh boy. For a second, I thought you were being serious.

But seriously, what game were you watching yesterday?

Yeah, that O-line of ours REALLY gave Trent a chance with their

stout (that means good) run and pass blocking.

Man, I sound like a broken record...

  3. It doesn't take a 50+ yard pass to stretch the D. It take the OC to call a couple of pass plays of more than 20 yards to get it done. It's not because he can't throw the ball 50+ yards in the air, it's because of the play calling, and the fact that our O line can't block long enough for a player to run a long pattern.

  4. Dude your dumb!

Teams don't respect the long pass and therefor don't worry about it, and no Trent can't throw the ball 50+ yards in the air. The longer the throw the more his ball floats and that is because of his poor throwing mechanics. His short passes and intermediate one are okay but the long attempts suck.

Because of teams lack of respect for the long ball they stack the box. The safeties don't worry about double covering the

WRs because they know he isn't throwing anything more than about 15 yards in the air. Other teams don't respect this offense. Until Trent can keep the safeties honest i'm afraid it's going to be more of the same in the coming weeks.

    Dumb? Why thank you.

Actually, if Trent had more than 2 seconds to get rid of the ball, and a running game,

THAT WOULD OPEN THE LONGER PASSING GAME!

No running game + poor pass block = short passing game

  5. So are you saying that when we get Fowler, Butler and Schobel back we will be fine?

    Nope.

We need to ditch Fowler (Preston may not be the answer), get some better play from Peters

and hope Butler grows into the position. Also, I don't think our 2 starting DE's are all that great,

and wouldn't mind seeing a real pass rushing DE.

  6. No he can't!!!

    Yes he can!!!

Hey, let's take a moment to analyze this. Just say, for arguments sake, Trent can't throw the

long ball. He is still a much better QB than Losman can ever hope to be. He has better pocket presence,

touch on the ball, grasp of the offense and reads defenses better. So Losman can be the one-trick

pony, and I'll take Trent anyday.

And speaking of the long ball. How much of the offense is predicated on the "long ball". Before we answer

that, we need to define the "long ball". I would guess that would be a pass that is in the air for greater than

50 yards, not a pass and catch greater then 50 yards. Now, Trent CAN throw the ball in the air greater than

50 yards with good accuracy. Problem is, unless your the 70's Raiders, that may be 1 to 2 balls a game, if that.

Really does the long ball even matter? I understand you want to loosen the defense, but tossing the ball 50 plus

yards all game, ain't the answer.

Let's not forget this, to be able to throw the "long ball", you would need to have AN OFFENSIVE LINE THAT CAN HOLD

A BLOCK FOR MORE THAN 2 SECONDS! Which gets back to my original point that the poor offensive line play is

most of Trent's problems these days.

  7. Does his decision making and reflexes seem a bit slower than before the concussion?-He is looking like(in more ways than one) Kurt Warner after his concussions. Just doesn't seem the same---feeling the passrush....getting rid of the ball..just overall not as physically quick or sharp.

    Maybe i'm imagining it but...

    Nope. Just the O-line sux.

  8. We need ESPN to do the "Top 10 reasons you can't blame Trent Edwards".

    10. He's from Stanford

    9. Poor coaching

    8. O-line sux

    7. D-line sux

    6. No running game

    5. Poor pass block

    4. Poor run block

    3. The Butler did it

    2. Poor WR depth

    And finally....

    1. He's "The One"

  9. My thoughts and why the Bills will end up 7-9 and are pretenders.

Edwards is not that good. He makes too many stupid throws, takes sacks and has no urgency. You might as well put Losman in there, at least he is exciting to watch and takes advantage of the deep ball.

Hardy is an absolute bust. The guy kept falling to the ground running his routes and then at the end with the only ball thrown to him gets outmuscled by a 5"9" corner. People need to stop making excuses for this guy. He is horrible.

The offensive line are a bunch of fat overpaid bums.

    The defense is a joke.

Overall, this team is an absolute disappointment and losing against the Jets at home is a season killer.

I agree, except about Edwards. The O-line sux and gives him no help.

And Hardy shows now aggression on the field. Needs to grow a set and fight

    for the ball.

  10. I completely agree with you. I'm simply responding to Trent's play in the same manner all the Trentsters responded to JPs play last year. JP was often unfairly criticized. It's just Trent's turn now. This team has had a lot of bad play and coaching from a large cast the past couple weeks.

Fine, Trent though is a better QB than Losman. Not to sound like I'm a homer at all, but, Trent

has been a victim of poor play by the D and O-lines, while JP was a victim of his own poor play.

Trent is a much better QB who will only improve, while JP is an OK QB, who has only gotten worse.

  11. This is the best line we've had here in five years, and while I realize that's not saying much, how come its only now that the O-line is finally exposed now that Trent is starting? Sorry, but I think it's you who needs to get his head out of the dirt.

    Best line in 5 years???

BTW, finally exposed cause Trent is starting?? Nope, they were expose a long time ago.

It takes a few weeks of game tape when the opposition realizes YOU CAN'T RUN THE BALL and

tee's off on the QB. If Trent had ANY protection or run blocking, this would have been a much

    different game.
