My alma mater too, fellow Boiler!
Though I was there when Jim Everett was the QB.
Ha, nice! Boiler Up my friend.
-
Teams don't get rid of elite quarterbacks.
True, but let's not ignore how old Brees is and how much cap space he would free up if they were to part ways. The Saints need a complete overhaul of their defense in order for them to even remotely compete. He just had his 5th 5000 yard season yet they still had a losing record.
-
Olson QB coached Brees at my alma mater Purdue. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Leroi hint at a possible push to land Brees?
-
It is a nice story. But there is no real definition or standard for "legally deaf".
Thanks for pointing that out. I just put that there cause all the articles have that in their headlines. I will correct the title
-
With all the bruhaha about Sherman, I thought it would be cool to shine the spotlight on something positive. I was reading online about the fullback for the Seahawks being legally deaf. It's such an inspiring story. He was featured in a commercial explaining all the hardships he overcame playing football. Great story. Thought it was worth a share
Here's a link to the commercial:

Wait, it's over? I had money on you taking him down! an F5 to the face to finish him off.
Nah, I was tapping a fancy touchscreen.
-
Haha nicely done. I dunno why I kept dragging that out

I didn't use a single insult. I just stated my own opinion. That and I prefer to judge players based on play. Not his the availability to give his girlfriend a game ball. Guess what, the only difference between what is accepted, and this, was his girlfriend was working, insted if buy an endzone ticket.
You don't even know me and you're presuming to tell me to reevaluate my priorities in life. Is that a compliment? Either way no hard feelings. Im not mad. Like I said you're entitled to your opinion. If I was Nelson I wouldn't have done that. That's all. But I'm not him so doesn't matter. I just want to see our team turn it around this season. Go Bills! I'm done talking about this. for the last time
-
I think you might need to reavaluate you're priorities in life if you think it was inappropriate to celebrate an unlikely moment with loved ones, during a game some of us may have an unhealthy emotional attachment to.
Again, if you feel the need to hurl personal insults at me for having an opinion, the ball is in your court for self evaluation
-
Oh geez. I like our chances against KC offense. But let's not get ahead of ourselves yet. KC defense is very stout. We have to be on our best behavior. Our offense has to get its act together. I am cautiously optimistic
-
Nelson shouldn't celebrate unless he knows the defense will get stops or can accurately predict the final score? I wish to subscribe to your news letter.
With all due respect, you're putting words in my mouth. I'm not trying to get into it with anyone on here. I was simply pointing out something that didn't sit well with me. You can disagree with me all you want, I just wont resort to patronizing your opinion. There are plenty of fans and friends of mine who share in my opinion. I know I'm just an armchair coach, but all I am saying is if I was a coach of any sport and we were down 3 scores, I wouldn't want our players to celebrate that we are 2 scores down. Especially in an elaborate fashion such as that, while we are getting served. Why unnecessarily draw the attention to ourselves like that and fire up the opposition even more? Either way, I'm sorry if this has detracted from the OP's original intention of discussion. I'm done with this topic. GO BILLS, let's beat KC!

He scored to make the game 21-7. I wouldn't consider it a blowout or outrageous to celebrate a TD under those circumstances.
He scored the lone touchdown in a game where we LOST 44-7..... Yes he did make the score 21-7 from 21-0. But let's not leave out the fact that Dallas marched right down the field next possession and scored to make it 28-7 end of the half. And from there on we scored no more points. Therein lies the problem of the celebration.
-
Nelson lost my respect when in the game against Dallas while we are getting blown out, he decides to celebrate a TD by kissing his Dallas cowgirl gf. That's just not kosher. Got a gf who happens to be with the opposing organization? Cool. Just don't celebrate a lone TD by smooching her while we are getting our asses handed to us.

Agreed, he is very talented, but i read he plans on staying in Texas Tech for his senior year: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000264829/article/texas-tech-te-jace-amaro-tweets-hell-return-for-senior-season
Here's another guy I would like us to get: http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2013/10/17/4850914/eric-ebron-catch-record-north-carolina

Jets WR are horrible man. Santonio is 25% of what he used to be, not to mention that he has barely played this season (including not playing yesterday). Ask a Jets fan what they think of stone hands Hill. SJ is better than any of their WR right now. And Woods is well on his way to being better than any of their WR as well. Chandler is serviceable and Freddy/CJ are worlds apart from what they got at RB. Bills Offense personnel > Jets Offense personnel. Like other have mentioned, however, we have an OC that has been quite unimpressive with his creativity thus far - which is obviously a major factor in how the offense looks.
Whoa, bro, I never said the Jets receivers were better than ours. Nor was I even coming close to comparing theres to ours. I agree with you our offensive personnel are solid and as a whole our offense is better than the Jets. I was simply saying that yes while the Jets receivers do drop balls a LOT, when they are on, they do play well and are opportunistic as was proven when they torched our injury plagued secondary. I also like chandler, but I would still like us to draft a stud TE who can block and run quick routes like a receiver. Imagine having a guy like Jimmy Graham on our offense in addition to everything we have.
I also agree with you that our OC is incompetent and I'm wondering why Marrone brought him along to the NFL. He went out and hired a proven guy on defense but then brings up this 30 yr old who has no experience facing NFL defenses. Couple that with the fact that this young upstart is hampering Manuel's development by not letting him play and making him fit to his scheme.
-
The Jets receivers stink. The difference is coaching. Ryan isn't afraid to let his rookie QB throw downfield and make his share of mistakes. Marrone is.
C'mon, man Santonio is a SuperBowl MVP, stretches fields, and to my recollection, performs quite well against us. Jets receivers aren't amazing, but they certainly don't stink. Oakland's receivers stink save for Denarius Moore. Tennessee's receivers stink
-
IMO (Purely Speculation): This all falls on Hackett in my opinion. Obviously, Marrone has to address all matters related to the team to the press. But this has Hackett's responsibility written all over it. He's young, inexperienced, has no NFL experience. Marrone himself said, that his style of coaching is to let the DC manage defense and OC manage the offense. Marrone is a good guy and doesn't want to hang Hackett out to dry, but judging from the fact that he played in the NFL and has coached in the NFL, he had to have been scratching his head when Hackett pressed forward with Tuel as the backup. From the at times, frustrating playcalling, to his blunder with the QB's, I would guess that Hackett could be out of here by the end of the season. He may have potentially put Marrone in a compromising position strategically speaking.

For some of the short passes, like in the flat, I noticed one one occasion the RB was just standing around, not really engaged or aware of what he is doing. Some of those turnovers that game wouldn't happen if the receivers hold on to the ball. There was one that went off the guy's chest and he barely made an effort seemingly because he wasn't ready. I like what I saw from that video of the Steelers game. One thing is for sure. This guy takes some nasty hits, he's a tough guy. I agree on the similarities to Fitzy. He seems to thrive when plays break down, and is very accurate while on the move. It could be exciting to watch. Guess we will find out on Sunday, guys! Here's hoping we pull this one out!
-
Vikings say Josh Freeman won't start Sunday: http://usat.ly/199NIYO
That's probably what sold him on Minn, was the fact that he wasn't going to be rushed and thrown to the wolves so to speak. In addition, after seeing what the Bengals did to the Patsies, he probably chickened out on signing with us.
-
I'm not one for falling for false hope, but c'mon guys! Last week the Ravens came to our house acting like they owned this place, like they had this locked. I smell blood, I smell a trap. Dalton SUCKS! And we have the 2nd best rushing attack in the league. If we could hang with Cleveland, NE, Carolina, Baltimore and NYJ, we might be able to pull this off. I was at the Ravens game. I did not expect our boys to pull it off, but they did, and by god I lost my voice and it was worth it. Let's keep an open mind. Any Given Sunday. Next Sunday the bengals are the bungles. If Cleveland could do it, we can do it. Go Bills!!!
-
^^because we can sign him and then another dumb team will give us draft picks to get him lol
Exactly my reasoning for bringing him here. We're thinking long term future for the bills.
-
How about signing Freeman and shelving Manuel for the rest of season. Manuel is scheduled to be out for 6-8 weeks. Why rush him back? We don't want a repeat of RGIII. Freeman may not be Marino, but he's the best thing out there
THIS. I agree. Shelving Manuel would allow him to heal up, stay healthy and continue to grow and develop. If we can pick up freeman for the vet minimum, why not? He has no leverage. He's getting paid by the Bucs like he's still their starter. We have nothing to lose. If he wins, he can restore his reputation and field offers next season. If he loses, we release him end of the season. Signing Freeman would be a statement that this new regime is committed to putting a winning product.
-
I say we start a campaign and blow up his Twitter account. We'll even give him his #5. Hopkins wouldn't mind as his spot on the roster is in question.
His agent is Erik Burkhardt (@erikburkhardt) blow up his twitter too. Hell, blow up Russ Brandon's too. Guys, Freeman is the answer. Think about it, we play the Bucs on 12/8, what better ending to the saga than to march in there and spank the Bucs with Freeman at the helm. Great PR.
