  1. If the Bills moved to Toronto it would be one of the worst events of my life.

But, I LOVE football. I REALLY REALLY love football.

And if the closest thing to the Buffalo Bills was the Toronto BIlls - I would be a Toronto Bills fan.

Everyone who says that they would immediately not care about the NFL anymore if the Bills moved to Toronto is just lying to themselves.

The second that 1:00 on that first Sunday happened you would be glued to the tube just like you would any other year...perhaps it would mean a little less...but you can't just drop a major part of your life in an instant.

  2. No. Toronto isn't Buffalo. I root for the Bills because they're my home team. The Bills are integral to this city's identity. It just wouldn't be the same.

I would watch the NFL for the exciting players, but forget about any incarnation of the Toronto Bills (it makes me sick just typing those two words together).

But...Moorman might be their punter! and god knows that Overdorf and Brandon would be involved in some capacity.

  3. So let's say it's 2015 and Ralph peacefully passes.

He gets his deserved respect and remembrances and we all focus on the good times with him as owner.

But immediately every Bills fan has a lump in their throat the size of Fitz's frankenstein-head.

We know that our football future is about to be bid on.

So, many of you are telling me that if it came down to LA and Toronto...and if Toronto won...you wouldn't grudgingly-at-first, but after-a-while, thank the lord above that there is still a team that you can NATURALLY root for, and not a team to have to force yourself to root for like the Browns or some other rust belt team.

This policy of playing a pre-season and regular season game in Toronto hurts for sure, but it's SO worth it if it gives us a chance to still have a team that at least is still reasonable to drive to their home games. And the Toronto Bills would always have a part of Buffalo in them. No other team or city could say that in this situation.

So, yes it sucks so friggin', horribly, death-to-the-fu**in-world bad that we can't stay in Buffalo forever, but at least maybe we could still have a team that actually has shades of Buffalo.

  4. he took (at least) one by a leash and swung it around, bashing it against the ground over and over, until it was dead.

he then took the FAMILY DOG, and FED IT to the fighting dogs to show what mean dogs he had.

    !@#$ MICHAEL VICK

true, ok, this thread is actually getting me riled up, i just need to stay out of it.

    he's a piece of ****.

I agree with you 100% Dank, and if Vick became a Buffalo Bill, I would literally not be a fan until he left.

Michael Vick is scum, and ANYONE who tries to defend him is scum and are dead to me.

  5. What if Fitz's accuracy drastically improves throughout the season?

Isn't that basically the only thing that's holding him back?

Hell, if he could have had a few throws back from the NE game we very well could have won. Could you imagine him stepping in and beating the Pats? He would be a Buffalo hero.

Perhaps he is the kind of QB that needs a few games to get in a groove and by week 10 he is playing like a pro bowler.

To be honest, I think that this happening is fairly unlikely, but much stranger things have happened (like your starter co-captain being released only a week removed from being your #1 guy).

    GO FITZ!

  6. After thinking a little bit more about my original post I realized that I really phrased things in an immature way.

Sorry about that, just blowing off some steam in not the best way.

I really meant to say that I'm excited about this rally.

It shouldn't be about hate on either side. Sorry again for misrepresenting what I believe Stewart is trying to accomplish with this rally.

  7. I like Stewart/Colbert but is this post a little inflated? Maybe even insane?

Sorry, just excited that rational people like Stewart actually exist.

Also, why is almost everyone on this board republican/conservative?

I thought that Buffalo was traditionally intelligent when it came to politics.

  8. I think it's when people use terms like: "wanna"

I wonder what you think about the way Palin talks

I don't agree with everything she says, and yes she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, BUT there is so much frustration among people, who are being taxed into oblivion, just to support more; Bail Outs, "Stimulus" and various other Entitlements, that she seems to come across with more sincerity than almost any other Politico, and that's where her popularity comes from.

I personally witnessed ALL the 2008 Presidential/Vice Presidential Candidates and I will say that, OFF CAMERA, she is the most sincere and caring of the bunch. She can look you in the eye and there's no evidence of the insincere sneer that was so prevalent among all the other Candidates.

Finally, The B*tch has papers! No question of eligibility, where, when she was born, went to school, Tax records, School Records, etc. etc.

I respect your opinion, but I literally see this the EXACT opposite way. She seems like the obvious one who is a complete lie and is just playing with the ignorant rednecks minds.

    Okiedokie

    :D

Ironic that you bring up spelling: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=okidoki

  9. And yet you go merrily off to class and sit in awe of your professors who pour a continuous stream of leftist political ideology and other drivel into the glazed-eyed students with impressionable minds.

I'm not so sure about this.

None of my professors interject their own political beliefs.

Why do conservatives always seem like stiff, cranky old men who want to rule the world?

If professors at Universites are so liberal-biased then that makes me want to be even more liberal.

I would much rather follow the advice of someone who has studied these things in a formal setting for a career, rather than just some guy who has certain "feelings" about the way things should be.

The fact that their is a stereotype of professors leaning to the left says a lot to me.

  10. She has...and as governor, she believe that her oath of office to support the law superceded her personal beliefs. Like I said...people can be complex. Even King Bush II was more than the simpleton he seemed.

Ever seen a beer commercial? Hell, again...ever listen to Al Sharpton? (Google "Tawana Brawley"; I was in college in Poughkeepsie during that nonsense, btw). It's called "selling the sizzle, not the steak". Marketing is marketing; very little about politics is honest.

I once had a bible church pastor tell me "The bible must be taken literally, there's no room for interpretation". To which I responded "Translation is interpretive. So you read it in the original Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin?" Rabid evangelicals tend to be the most ignorant AND the most fun. I actually have much respect for those with honest belief; none at all for the inflexible proselytizer.

Wow. I'm so sick so crooks always on the airwaves. Why is this country such a "fail"????

You mean, that those impressionable minds that are exposed and soak up humanist-marxist-socialist blather from the average college professor are any better off? Sorry, I'm not buying that argument. I mean, they're just becoming tools for Olbermann or Madcow, ready to be swayed into believing in a community organizer.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as you're either still a teenager or just barely not. You don't have much of a well of experience in the real world to draw out of. But, I've got some bad news for you. While liberalism (I'm avoiding the ridiculous term "progressivism" as there's nothing progressive about leftism) sounds great when Professor Snottynose expounds on it in the classroom, in real life it is failed philosophy. Less regulation is always more effective than more. Smaller government is always preferable to improve the human condition than larger. Likewise, freer speech is ALWAYS preferable to more controlled.

What is offensive to you is sensible to others, and vice versa. Tell me that someone who resides in the midst of "enlightened" academia isn't really advocating muzzling FREE SPEECH? Tsk.

You're obviously an intellegent guy, but the administrations that I can remember (most of Clinton to present) the conservative way seems to always be more crooked and ignorant.

Maybe I'll change my views as I get more years of experience to draw upon, but whenever I try to look at things from a non-biased view the conservatives almost always seem to be the frauds.

Of course there is always exceptions, but if you youtube palin, beck, o'reilly etc, it's always disgusting.

I respect your opinion though (and the religious freaks at my school, even though they piss me off)

  11. Point of note: as governor of Alaska, she vetoed the a bill passed in the state legislature defining marriage as between one man and one woman, on the grounds that it violated equal protection.

People tend to be more complex than we believe.

Hell, I doubt Biden's all that sure either. :w00t:

Honestly? Best I can figure is that her homespun "you betcha" affectations play VERY strongly to a mass of people that aren't represented by a leadership (in either party, but particularly Democrat at the moment) they perceive as intellectual elitists detached from the general population.

Take gay marriage as a microcosm of that issue: on one side you have a group making the intellectual, legal, and political arguments about equal protection and civil rights protections as related to gender roles. On the other, you have a down-home, homespun "We know what's right" argument. Forget for a moment that you're a college student (which you'll realize, a few years after you graduate, is intellectually about as artificially homogenous a social environment as exists), and think about the nature of people in general: on what level to most people respond to messages? Intellectually, or viscerally? Which one do you think is going to resonate better with people?

And while you're thinking on that...think on Al Sharpton's messages, too.

Great reply, and exactly what I was looking for in this thread.

I wasn't aware of the Bill you mention, but I could have sworn that she has said in interviews that she is against gay marriage. Still though, very interesting that she vetoed that bill.

I know that the "you betcha" attitude will help her win votes...but isn't that a little immoral to "play dumb" to get votes? I'm also sure that the dems play mind games like that as well - but it just doesn't seem so insulting.

Also, at my campus (North Carolina State University), I can't believe how many Jesus freaks speak in the main quad area all the time. Really pisses me off.

  12. I think Sarah Palin is a moron, but I have a couple questions for you.

    1) Who was the last successful politician who gained a following by means other than "having vague talking points"?

(btw...I'm making less than $250,000 so I presume my Obama-promised tax cut will show up any minute)

    2) Why would you be scared of someone who holds no elected office (and in fact, appears to be unemployed), and has very limited prospects for ever being elected to any office again?

What scares the hell out of me is the ability of those in power to stay that way and continue inflicting damage to our country by convincing people there is some scary bogeyman out there waiting to get them.

    1. Well, I admit that I'm a little ignorant...but didn't Obama have actual ideas about improving the country during the election? Didn't he have ideas such as healthcare reform, handling the wars etc? It seems like McCain/Palin just kept on saying things like "America!", and "We're Mavericks!", just trying to get an emotional foothold on the less-informed?

    2. I'm scared of her becuse she seems to have enourmous influence on people, such as all the tea partiers and the people that they seem to have gotten elected.

I know, I mean we elected an empty-suit community organizer President because he was crafty with a teleprompter! We're all screwed....

What do you mean with "crafty with a teleprompter"?

btw, Lou Reed is awesome - Blue Mask is simply a classic.

  13. This woman gets front page attention every time she sneezes.

Here is a partial list of things that she stands for/is associated with:

    1. Denying gay couples the same status as traditonal couples - just as bad as segregated schools in the last century imo.

    2. Promoting more Christian values - religion always leads to ignorance...see Iran, Iraq, etc

    3. Does not understand on even a basic level current or future events - see youtube interviews

    4. Gains a following by having vauge talking points and participating in semi-racist rallies

    5. Was willing to become VP when she openly admitted she wasn't really sure what the VP does

I'm not saying that Obama is the best guy in the world (although I admit I strongly support him), but why does she have such a strong following?

I know that I've interjected a strong amount of my personal opinion in this post...but seriously...can someone who is more knowledgable on politics tell a baffled college kid why she is so powerful?

  14. I know this will offend a lot of people, but I'm sorry, it's U2.

These guys could barely play their instruments on their 1st few albums.

And how can a greatest band ever claim songs like "Sweetest Thing" and "Mysterious Ways?"

And come on, Boner wearing dark sunglasses in doors and at night? :flirt:

And "The Edge" with the winter skull cap at all times too?

For this they get treated like royalty? :worthy:

I mean, seriously, no ...

YES, finally someone with some sense.

    ROTTEN PHIN GUTS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>U2

I know these won't be popular choices, but I will go Rush, Steely Dan and the Beach Boys... shame on you Beatle bashers! 0:)

Although I don't hate everything they have ever done, I could also agree with Springsteen and U2...

I must disagree about the Beach Boys.

Beach Boy albums that are absolute gems (in order of briliance):

    1. SMiLE (unreleased 60's version, not the crappy re-make)

    2. Pet Sounds

    3. Today

    4. Surfer Girl

    5. LIttle Deuce Coup

    6. Shut Down vol 2

    7. Summer Days (and summer nights)

  15. Oh off the high horse. I made medium wings for a thousand customers that Summer. On rare occasion, someone wanted one with less heat and I made it.

This particular douche sent it back once and I made a fresh batch mild. That was still too hot for this p***y so I let him know he needed to "nut up" if he was going to order wings by sending out the inferno.

A good lesson is: When you go into a wing shack, don't dick with the minimum wage chef. You will lose every time.

So you work at Just Pizza huh?

Second best pizza in WNY, behind Bocces (transit) of course

  16. You would hate Mad Men

Thinking again about my post... I guess it is ok to say that someone is attractive, but it just pisses me off how ESPN and other networks seem to only hire skimpy bimbos that arn't as good as some others in their analysis.

When I'm watching the Bills I just don't really care to see some woman who thought that the Pats played the Jets in the SB a few years ago (http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wirestory?id=11624750&page=3)

  17. The shoutbox is a nice addition in that it presents a conversational aspect to the board that one can casually glance at and participate in without going out of the way or joining a focused discussion. It's also fosters a sense of community.

Plus it broadens the functionality of the board, I mean, where else are we to discuss the virtues and short-comings of DMB? Is it childish? Maybe. Entertaining? Absolutely.

It is also one of the aspects sets this board apart from other Bills message boards. That's my 2 cents anyway.

    +1
