Again, why do the Bills continue to run 4 wideouts on 3rd downs when the 5 man line doesn't give the QB enough time to find them?  How about DiMarco in the backfield as additional protection?  Allen should begin to recognize defenses more with experience so give him some more help until he can.

Just a guess, but it might be a bit of a catch-22 (or drop-22 in this case.) The receivers cant win their battles to get open and must rely on numbers to spring an open man. Keep a guy in to block, nobody to throw to. Send 4 receivers, no time to find them.

When Allen hurdled that defender, it reminded of a couple plays from the Bills past.

The first memory that popped  up was Kelly's dive for the winning TD against Miami in 1989.  The net result of Allen's leap wasn't nearly as momentous but it galvanized the team in a similar way.  I loved hearing Allen's teammates talk excitedly about the play after the game.

I thought his dive to the pylon reminded me of the Kelly TD myself, though as you said not as dramatic a moment, the swagger and competitive fire in that play was truly Kelly-esque!

It happened one time. I’m not happy about it. The waitress brought me ranch on accident and then she never came back. I didn’t think anyone else saw it ...

So in other words you didn’t order bleu cheese. I’m stunned...

    (2) Something no one has mentioned here: is this fair to Peterman? If Peterman struggles at all in the first three games, it might well be because of the difficulty of the competition and not a lack of skill on his part. Is it fair to yank him in game four without giving him a chance to prove himself? Three games is not a long time to evaluate him. And getting yanked again might be devastating to his confidence and his career.

I think If he was going to break due to pressure/performance/being pulled that would have happened after his first start last year.

And this is professional football, not everybody is go8ng to get a “fair” chance to prove themselves, esp a 5th round pick vs a top 10.

  5. Who remembers the Irv Weinstein jingle?

    God help me...I do!

    "Irv Weinstein, you're really a pro -

    You've got all the news

    that we want to know

You always tell it like it is

and never throw it a curve -

    Nobody says it like Irv!"

    That's pretty close I think...

edit...damn, I shouldn't have tried to find it on Youtube as well, or I'd have been first!

I don't mean to pick on you, but the coded language with black QBs (ie "athletic") is incredibly tiring. We get it, people want a 6'5" white QB with a laser rocket arm and a 4.7 GPA who won 4 championships in a "professional" scheme in college. Watson has a tendency to get lazy on his footwork and make some unadvised throws, but everyone around him raves about his intangibles, he can make plays with his legs, but there's a huge difference between how he plays the game and how Vince Young or Michael Vick played it in college. Watson has come up huge against the best defenses he could see at the college level (Alabama twice and OSU), outside of some of his sloppiness, there's plenty of reason to like him as a prospect.

Maybe that's your code, but when I hear "athletic" I think of a QB who'll tuck it and run or extend the play with his legs. Frank Tarkenton, Steve Young, Rothlisberger are just a few who don't fit YOUR stereotype.

Personally, the guy can be a smurf with a laser rocket arm and 4.7 (though I'd take 4.6) GPA w/ 4 championships in a pro scheme - I want a winner, don't much care what he looks like!
