I don’t remember a time in the regular season where OT was “play until someone wins”?

Looking through the old standings, there were ties in the 80's, 90's and 2000's.  When OT was first approved, I am pretty sure, it was 1 OT period, and then a tie when that period ended.  How could that be if they "played until someone wins"?

That is what I was questioning.

Gotcha. In that case, you are right, it was a time-limited sudden death as opposed to a play 'til someone wins scenario. Sorry!

This was never a thing...except come playoff time.

    Umm...no.

Sudden death was a thing until 2012 in the regular season.

Fun fact, Overtime wasn't in the NFL rule book until 1974.

I say...combine the current system and the college format! It'll be just like the NHL - a few minutes of regular play then a "shootout!"

    (tongue embedded firmly in cheek!)

  3. I like Buffalo Beat (formerly Bills Beat) podcast by Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn from the Athletic. It's pretty entertaining they try to keep it pretty even keel (not too much homerism).

They put out two a week during the season - one within a day after a game and one a few days before the next game as a preview.

And I agree - Radio.com app is garbage. It wound up draining my battery even when it was not in use (or in the backround). Once I deleted it, battery usage returned to normal. Now if I want to listen to any stations on it, I do it through a web browser.
