  1. I love the way BB came into the conversation. Seems like the "WR train" talk on 'gr is a constant topic. Bad radio imo. WR is not the reason the Bills have not advanced in the playoffs. The "d" has come up small year after year. I was hoping that the Bills focused heavily on strengthening that side of the ball in this draft.

    Eagles showed the way.

  2. When I moved from BUF to Minnesota, I discovered Pearson's Nut Goodie. It's an Upper Midwest thing but you can buy them on-line. First introduced in 1912 and still going strong. Unbelievable candy bar...

Are you only looking at laptops?  If your needs are fairly basic from a computing perspective and you’ve got an external monitor, you may want to consider a mini pc. Here’s an example - $169 on Amazon - preinstalled with Windows 11 pro - just as powerful as many desktops

Thanks! I hadn't considered a mini pc. I'll research these to see if it will work for me. Appreciate the suggestion!

Thanks Jack. My Acer is also a Costco laptop and has been very reliable. I'm trying to get out ahead of the Windows 10 support thing or I'd just keep using it.

Have you bought that MS Office license? That's a really similar situation to the Office 24 link I posted. I'm just not sure if I'm, as UConn James stated upthread, throwing my money away. I'd sure like to know if someone has had success using it.

I was in the same boat and got an HP mini elite 800 at the Black Friday price , ~$900 down from $1,400. Very small form factor that I have on my entertainment center and I use my 65” tv as a monitor via an HDMI cable. I’m pretty happy with it so far.

Thanks! That sounds like a really interesting option. I'm going to check it out although I'd like to try to keep it to a ceiling of $600. The Office 365 subscription model blows chunks!

  5. Thanks. I saw that free 11 upgrade a couple of days ago so I ran the system checker. It came back that my processor wouldn’t run Windows11.

On Google Sheets, is it 100% compatible with all of my current Excel, Word, etc files & docs?

  6. My trusty, 8-year old Acer laptop runs Windows 10 which will no longer be supported later TY. So I feel compelled to switch to Windows 11. My Acer does everything I need. I'm not a techy guy at all (these specs came off of a label on my laptop). It runs on an Intel I7-7500U (2.7GHz/boost to 3.5GHz), 16GB DDR4 memory & 256GB SSD. I'm considering an All-In-One as I no longer travel with my laptop. I'm not a gamer so graphics don't need to be "the very best". Trying to figure out a suitable replacement is driving my crazy.

If any of you guys 'n gals have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

On a related topic, I've been a slave to MS Office for decades. I dislike subscriptions so I've been searching for an alternative to Office 365. Has anyone had an experience with Microsoftkeys? They seem to offer One-time downloads of Office for around $35 and on the surface, it appears to be legit.  MicroSoft Keys

    Thanks!!!

    Beat me to it

Great line by Bronson. I also loved the 90 seconds or so just before that opening - where they were just waiting at the station. The very first time I saw it, I was like..."what the heck am I watching". I could have included that portion in the clip I posted but thought that it was too long to get to the Bronson scene.

We have spent significant money having old speakers and intercoms and other antiquated things removed from our current house. We have WiFi speakers everywhere, and you can turn it on or off by room. Please seriously at least look into that first. Cheaper and more flexible.

This. We have Sonos speakers all around our house and they are perfect for integrating with your phone and streaming music. They are reasonably compact while delivering great sound and are even Alexa compatible if you use Prime.

  9. My wife and I took a flyer on a Christmas concert this past weekend. Didn't really know what to expect (although we did know the artist). We were floored by Gary Hoey's Ho Ho Hoey tour. A classic power trio putting a hard rock/metal spin on Holiday classics. Apparently, he's been doing this for many years. Who knew!

If you're looking for a fun evening, check this out.

  10. For any Hendrix fans or fans of Blues/Rock guitar, this show should be awesome. The tour features some of the top guitarists in the genre. They’re coming to BUF (at Kleinhans!) in March and also to a city near you. We scored great seats for the Buffalo show. Really looking forward to it.

    Levinthal’s paradox > Fermi paradox?

Now multiply them together and see what you get.

Why would one multiply them together? Sure it would be an absurdly large number but they're totally unrelated.  It would be like multiplying together a rhinoceros and a aircraft carrier. Means absolutely nothing.

...because the game was stopped and never replayed, I "lost". The league voted on what should happen with the other guy's blessing, and it was voted to pool 1st and 2nd place money and split the pool between the two of us...

Very fair outcome for an unprecedented situation IMO.

  13. Yep, I'm in way too many Dynasty leagues. Been playing this version of FF for several years. Liked it so much, I've also bought into 2 Devy leagues in the past 2 seasons. I find Devy gives me an edge in Dynasty Rookie drafts as I have researched the players sooner and longer. May or may not be true but I THINK it is! 😄

I know what you mean about activity. However, I'm in 2 leagues where one GM constantly sends out offers, most are pretty awful. but I still need to look.

I always try to respond to trades with a short explanation. If I can start a dialogue, I find that we can sometimes negotiate a win/win deal. So many GMs just want to steal your best players like you're an idiot.

  14. Kind of a different take here as we don't actually have one favorite restaurant. Rather, we have favorite dishes that only certain restaurants do great.

For example, if we're in the mood for 'za, we go to a particular pizzeria. If in the mood for lamb chops, only one place to go for us. Burger tonight (?), we know exactly where to go to satisfy that urge.

So in a roundabout way, I guess my answer would be "always order the same thing" since we generally go to that restaurant for a particular dish.

I distinctly remember seeing that episode when it originally aired. I was like 9.

    Best. Twilight Zone. EVER!

  16. Not "modern" but, Grammy nominated Jazz group Spyro Gyra started in Buffalo in the 70's. Saw them on many a night before they hit the big-time. And many times since as well.

From Wikipedia: "Saxophonist Jay Beckenstein and keyboardist Jeremy Wall formed a band with jazz and rock musicians who were playing in the Buffalo bar and club circuit. In 1974..."
