  1. I go back and forth between Ebron and Evans. Even though they play different positions, they are so similar in abilities. I do like Ebron's confident outgoing personality much more than Evans' quiet type of personality. I think the Bills need to get some players with some type A personalities on this team. Too many quiet types for my liking. Anyways, I'm leaning towards Eric Ebron this week because... If they draft Ebron, they will have the chance to draft a very good playmaking WR prospect like Moncrief, Landry, or Bryant in the 3rd round. I don't think the reverse is true if they draft the WR Evans and look for a very good playmaking TE prospect in the 3rd.
  2. If true, say goodbye to Dareus, Glenn, Gilmore and Alonzo in the coming years. Parker and Byrd gave them the blueprint on how to roll over this softy loser of a franchise. The Bills are officially the minor league/developmental team for the real major league teams.
  3. They look like big calculator numbers on those calculators that have....um, big numbers. Now, the problem with that is that these are old looking digital numbers on a team jersey which is based on the pirates of the caribbean. Not only that...on the helmet, the flags is "flapping" as if the player were moving backwards...LOL I'm truly shocked at how bad these uniforms are. I feel bad for their fans.
  4. Unlike Byrd's ill feelings, Sammy Watkins has said the Buffalo Bills were his favorite team growing up. If you can become an elite WR then you will and should get paid like an elite WR. While I don't like his agent at all, I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. Sammy Watkins remains at the top of my wish list for the draft.
  5. Byrd had two subpar season's before his 2012 five interception season. The 2013 season cemented Byrd as a top safety in the league. If the Bills had Byrd under contract, the Bills would fetch at least a 2nd round pick or possibly a low 1st round pick to a very good team that was one or two players away from a championship.
  6. Remember that the majority of players on the Bills are making peanuts compared to a 9-10 million dollar a year contract. Now, if it comes out that Byrd was offered a 9-10 million dollar a year contract by the Bills making him the highest payed safety in the league and Byrd pulls a half season long disappearing act...I'm thinking that he's definitely going to get some blowback from his teammates. He certainly isn't going to be getting any sympathy from them. Having said that, if the Bills turn the corner in a serious way this year there's the chance Byrd's chilliness starts to melt and he really wants to stay after all. That can happen as well.
  7. At least it gives them a year for a plan to fill that hole. Maybe even the 1st round pick next year is used for a safety. It also gives them the possibility of trade offer from another team that will get them a pick or swap of picks for this coming draft. There is absolutely no reason that I see not to tag Byrd. If they don't do it, then this team is officially a clown organization.
  8. I find it a little hard to believe that he won't sign the franchise tag contract. I think that 8.5 million dollars matters more than his feelings. So he really would be forced unless you find it plausible that he'd really would turn down that kind of money.
  9. So then you'll understand the Bills not franchise tagging Dareus, Glenn, Gilmore, Alonzo if they just don't feel like playing on the Bills even if they are offered more than fair contracts? Because that's exactly what you're saying. The reason for the franchise tag is partly for places like Buffalo (where few players want to go) to remain competitive. I don't care what Byrd wants. I want him tagged just to make clear the president that his wants and desires to be somewhere else are meaningless. If or when this team becomes great again, all of this wanting out will begin to disappear. Until then, him and his agent can take a walk.
  10. I think that he did say that very recently. So if Byrd walks away for nothing then Whaley is either going to lie, tell the truth and get fired or he'll resign to maintain his dignity. Way to go Bills organization! I don't see any other scenarios.
  11. Well wouldn't this a test case then? There's no way that Whaley is in favor of letting Byrd walk away for nothing.
  12. If I'm Doug Whaley I seriously think about resigning. He's clearly not a true GM here. Isn't it embarrassing to have the title of GM when it's not really true? The truth of this severe dysfunction of the Bills front office is quickly coming to the surface.
  13. It would be much worse than that. It would completely expose the Bills as a very dysfunctional franchise in terms of the front office. There would be some serious questions to be asked by the media and none of which would have good plausible answers other than they are run by clowns or the three stooges like the Browns fiasco.
  14. Who cares. Jim Kelly didn't either. This team needs to not care about players' feelings or wishes and take care of business by tagging him. Cross the next bridge when it comes.
  15. Respect. Nobody respects a weakling especially in this business. Agents will be free to walk all over the Bills now. Also, the Bills letting Byrd walk would set a horrible president for what to do if you're a great Bills player that no longer wants to be here. You tag Byrd and tell him and his agent to go scratch...and don't come with an offer for a trade to another team that he likes unless it's a low 1st or high 2nd round pick. Otherwise see you week 7 of the 2014 season when you'll still have to play hard for a long term contract.
  16. If that's the case then they can join the Browns and Dolphins as the biggest NFL joke teams. They have the cap space for Byrd's franchise tag. I have to believe those reports are false. They come from a "source", the link I showed was an official statement from the Bills.
  17. It's no longer about what Byrd wants. He clearly isn't on board for whatever reason. What it's now about is the Bills getting the maximum value in a trade after they tag him. If there's no serious trade offers (1st or 2nd round pick, or a swap of picks) then they have a pro bowl safety next year who will be playing hard in a contract year. Tthey'll also have a ton of cap space in 2015 to sign our more important positions for long term contracts. If the Bills play well, get in the playoffs these players will actually want to stay.
  18. They will tag him, they stated that they would only a week ago... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000327933/article/buffalo-bills-plan-to-franchise-tag-jairus-byrd-if-needed
  19. We shall see. I'm just seeing the Browns have north of 50 million in cap space and they have our former defensive coordinator as their head coach. The Browns trading for a perennial pro bowl safety is a clear signal to the team and their fans that they want to win now. If it's true that the Bills have offered Byrd a very fair contract then there's obviously a team out there that he knows is willing to lay down 2 or 3 million a year more. The franchise tag for Byrd is coming and I think the Bills will somehow play it to either get a chance to draft Sammy Watkins through a trade or a swap of picks, or Byrd is still a Bill in 2015. They hold all the cards and they aren't going to be played for chumps IMO.
  20. I think fans sometimes value draft picks much more than NFL GMs do. You are skeptical that the Bills wouldn't find a team willing to take willing to give the Bills a 3rd or 4th and still on Byrd's contract demands. On the contrary, the Bills (or any other NFL team) would laugh in their face if they expected that we'd only get a 3rd or 4th round compensation to trade away Byrd. The Bills will either get a low 1st round pick, or a high 2nd round pick for Byrd or a deal doesn't get done. Because obviously Byrd has a team in mind and that team wants him badly. There are a lot of things happening behind the scenes. IMO, the Browns have a TON of cap space and want Byrd as part of a big offseason splash. Byrd knows they want him and he probably knows his contract would be about 3 million more than the Bills are offering. What I would hope the Bills are doing is offering to swap #4 with #9 picks for Byrd. The trade value is a high second round pick. This way the Bills are in a real position for Sammy Watkins. The guy they want more than anybody.
  21. It's funny how little love there is for Anthony Barr around here myself included. I just saw on NFP's newest mock draft that they had us taking Barr. Then I went to watch his highlight clips again...GEEZ is that dude a freakish great athlete. I know there's a lot of Maybin 2.0 fear around here in regards to Barr, but this guy really looks like a top 5 talent and he's only been playing on defense a couple of years. Not only that, the guy is tailor made to cover the most athletic TEs in the NFL. With Watkins, Robinson and Mack likely gone Barr could very likely be the BPA. I think fans should take a second look at Barr. Seattle's great defense was built with fast athletic guys like this.
  22. Browns pick Manziel at #4 Browns trade their #26, #35 and #83 to the Bills for the Bills' #9 pick. Browns take Evans at #9. Manziel and Evans together again. LOL...it's not a prediction but just a "hey what the heck" scenario, it's pretty close on the trade value chart. I think the draft goes Clowney #1, Watkins #2, Mack #3 and I have no idea what the Browns will do.
  23. I think that the term "BPA" is kind of a cop out. IMO 90% of the time NFL teams draft in a combination of both dire needs and true player rating (BPA) with picks in the first through third rounds. There's usually a thread that mocks how crazy fortunate teams were to have their highest rated player be the guy they took and he filled a need.
  24. This year's draft has no correlation to last year's draft. On a scale of 1 to 10, the receiver class in last year's draft was a 2 compared to this year's 10. There are many recent playoff/successful teams who have taken WRs and TEs in the first round and were a big part to numerous playoff appearances...Bengals (Green), Texans (Johnson), Broncos (Thomas), Giants (Nicks), Atlanta (Jones, White), Niners (Crabtree, Davis), Cardinals (Fitzgerald) I really think that the Bills will correctly draft a premiere receiving talent simply because there will be a few OL who have first round grades remaining when their second round pick comes up. I don't think that will be the case at WR since I think the premiere WR talent will all be taken before the Bills pick at #41....Watkins, Evans, Lee, Benjamin, Cooks, Beckham, Matthews will all be gone IMO.
  25. Second round? I think you're misinformed. Kelvin Benjamin is a unique receiver in that he has gigantic size and he was extremely productive for the 2013 national championship team. He even caught the winning touchdown in the game. I think that he performed well at the combine. A man his size isn't going to run a superfast time. The guys on the NFL coverage even said as such. Also, he's not going to make turns on a dime because players that size aren't built to do that. They are built to catch footballs down the field and over the tiny munchkin DBs heads, especially in the endzone. The only knock on him is that he's raw. NFL teams who know how to coach can make a player with Benjamin size and ability one of the best receivers in the game. People are crazy if they think a player with his production and size will make it to the second round. I think this is a byproduct of fans just used to seeing him lower down in the draft blogs rankings and not realizing that teams drool over guys like Benjamin and will be more than willing to draft this guy. Not all teams are conservative. Many teams are willing to risk a boom/bust WR pick if that pick is in the second half of the first round. Teams I could see drafting Benjamin in the first are...Giants, Rams, Lions, Steelers, Ravens, Jets, Packers, Eagles, 49ers, Patriots. I don't see him getting beyond the Eagles. The Bills will have an extremely good read on Benjamin since their QB played with him for a full season. Enough so that if they take him at #9, I'd be comfortable because that will tell me Manuel was firm in letting them know the kid is competitive and has a very strong drive to become the best player he can be.
