  1. I think cutting Edwards has the effect, whether it's intentional or not, of sending a pretty clear message through the team. It doesn't matter if you're a starter, a captain, whatever, if you arn't producing we don't want you here going forward into next season. I say going forward into next year because barring a miracle turn around starting with a divisional win sunday, this season is about developing and evaluating. Now obviously a lot of guys on the team arn't producing, I get that, however Edwards days were pretty much numbered as he had more than enough time to develop. Maybe this will make players more accountable for their preparation and performance on the field.

p.s. - does anyone want to take bets as to what season of dancing with the stars Aaron Maybin will appear on?

Sending a message, we can only hope. Trent has had plenty of time to prove his worth and could'nt, move on to the next canidate. Same goes for the Maybin, it's time to fish or cut bait.

  2. That's impossible to believe. That had Nix and Chan all over it.

Has anyone seen or heard from Ralph in the past month?

Strange have not heard from Ralph in a while now. Makes you wonder? He maybe suffering from some dimentia by now. Agree Modrek and Ralph are the problem no one else. I can't understand why Modrek is still here? I want Nix, Whaley, and Gailey in full control with a full check book and let them build this damn thing.

  3. Why is he on the bench? Is GB a 3-4 team? You would think the guy could crack the lineup somewhere in the LB corps. There must be something we don't know about. I think Lynch has value to the Bills. Jackson has'nt played enough to know if he's the same guy as last year and Spiller is just a rookie, so I would hang onto Lynch. If they would have put Bell on the roster then I would be ok with moving Lynch.

  4. Exactly, some people on this board act like Edwards poisoned their pet dog or something. The guy hasn't been good, but there isn't a quarterback in the NFL that would have done much better with no offensive line and one NFL caliber receiver who is always double or triple covered. The guy hasn't thrown an interception this year that was his fault, both of his int's hit his receivers in the hands, it is their job to catch it. Edwards will be back in before the season is over, because Brohm sucks and you know what you get with Fitz, an average backup at best. I think if Fitz got hurt, Gailey would go with Edwards before embarrassing himself with Brohm.

Agree with that statement. I don't think Edwards is a #1 QB on any team, a backup maybe. The Bills tried to put lipstick on a pig, but in the end Trent is still a pig. The failure of this offense is not Trents fault, I go straight to the owner and his tight pockets, and front office for not repairing this joke of an offensive line.

  5. Nope, a QB is all we need to be competitive. Those other things are what make you a contender, but you only need a QB to be competitive, then and only then can you begin to understand what you need to become a contender. Just look at what all the teams that finally find their franchise guy have done.

We need to build an offensive line first. I can't understand why they did'nt adress this in the draft. Sure Spiller is a nice weapon, but he's useless stuck on the bench because we already have a ton of talent at RB. I've never seen a team so loaded at RB that teams are picking up our cuts and practice squad backs. We could have traded one and gained some draft picks, or a lineman. Wood and Levitre are nice, but i don't know if they even start on some teams, in fact I don't know if any of lineman would be starters on some teams.

  6. Green played much better yesterday also. He was blocking well in the running game as well a protecting in the pass. Bell has come along, but don't know if can still play a whole game? I think the line played better when Levitre went out and Howard came in. I think Levitre needs to go to the bench in favor of Howard. Levitre seems to small to play at this level and gets bull rushed way to much, Howard should start with Levitre coming off the bench to play anywhere but center. Most of the pressure yesterday came right up the middle on stunts or twists, the center and guards had a tough time with LB's.

  7. I think Fitzpatrick will be successful. He may not have the strongest arm and can't make all the throws, but he has the "it" factor that a qb needs to be successful. He knows how to scramble around and keep a play alive and he's not afraid of the blitz or to throw downfield or into coverage. He gets players around him to play better and is a better leader than Trent. I don't know if we beat the Pats, but there are a lot of games left to play and the season is still not all lost if we can get some kind of offensive pulse. The answer is not on the roster nor is it in the draft. I think this team needs to find a FA or some other teams backup as did Washington with Mcnabb and Seattle did with Whitehurst. I just feel a first round QB without addressing the tackle position with first round talent is a disaster waiting to happen. Of coarse the tackle position could also be remmedied in FA also.

  8. If your rebuilding why bring in a 34 year old to start at RT?. I would have gone with the youth movement by resigning Scott to play RT. If your going to bring back Merideth, Bell, Chambers, Hennesey, all guys whom we know can not play and not resign Scott and Incognito is beyond me. For this team to be fielding the same OL as last season, probaly worse, is obscene. Great we have starting running backs and teams are going to stack 8 in the box and dare us to throw. Good luck Trent I almost feel sorry for you.

  9. I think a lot of NFL people were laughing at the Gailey hire when it took place, and picked Buffalo to be a bottom feeder again after the first preseason game. I have a feeling some of them will have egg on their face by seasons end when Buffalo is no longer in the AFC basement. I think the players are buying into Gailey and some confidence maybe begining to build. In D.C. i'm not sure if the Haynsworth saga has helped the coach gain the players confidence. I don't think Mike would work in Buffalo and I don't think Gailey would work in D.C., so in the end the right coaches ended up in the right cities.

  10. I don't know why the national media has jumped on the Bill's are the worst franchise bandwagon. There 6-8 teams that are annually worse than the Bills. The one preseason game and we are already slotted to pick number 1. Every team is 0-0. We will suprise and get some upset wins. I hope we can play the role of spoiler and ruin the season for every AFC east team thinking the Bills will be a push over. At least we have no where to go but up and are flying under the radar so to speak.

  11. I would love to us running the ball 75% of the time. I hope we keep 4 backs and Mcintyre. Jackson, Lynch, Spiller, Bell, and Mcintyre in a rotation would keep everybody fresh. I don't know about 25 touches as Spiller should get some passing routes and return game, but 15 touches would be nice.

  12. I'm afraid the great special teams this team has been used to are gone. Bruce Dehaven and Bobby April were the best in the league. Our kickers are great, but the days of being the number one or two team in the league in special teams are gone. It will cost us wins also. The day's of starting drives at the 30 or 40 yard line and pinning teams deep may be over. As bad as our team has been over the years we could always count on special teams being great. Now we have come back the pack so to speak and we will see how good Dehaven and April really were.

  13. I love the point that one poster made about how odd it is that there are a lot of people down on Maybin

even though he shows effort and yet there are many Edwards supporters even though he doesn't show

    (outwardly) any passion at all.

I have posted my concerns and frustrations with Maybin, but I do try to be balanced and point out that I've

never read one thing that suggested that he isn't trying. He clearly has trained his body as he doesn't have

an ounce of fat and he has added muscle. He also seems to hustle most/all of the time. I think many

people's frustration is due to how high he was drafted and the return on investment so far. I think he'd be

pretty popular if he had been some lower round draft choice showing his athleticsm and would be considered

a "diamond in the rough" - which might still be true.

True it's not his fault he was drafted highly by this team. The fact that he held out his rookie camp and talks a big game are my issue's. I also thought he would have added some muscle and weight to his frame during the offseason, he is much smaller than some WR's in the league. Trent Williams threw him around like a rag doll. Yes he has speed, but if the tackle touches him with a finger he falls to the ground.

  14. This team has a ton of linebackers. I don't know why he was drafted in the first place. Pick would have been better spent on a tackle. His chances to make the roster are slim to none before he put on the pads. Practice squad maybe. Hardly knew you Mr. Moats, but your young and have a college degree you will do fine in life.

  15. I like Bryan Scott and thought he stepped-in well for injured players the past few years, but last night, I saw him wiff on 2 or 3 makeable tackles. He also looked slow and heavy and couldn't cover anyone out of the backfield. He was out of position on most plays and looked lost on the others. What do you take from his play last night?

Fit right in with the rest of the defense, because they all looked slow and whiffed on tackles. I thought the tackling was terrible last night. I have not seen this team tackle that bad in a long time. A lot of guy's were missing tackles hopefully just a bad game.

  16. If a ML trade improves our O-line protection and helps us run better now, yeah ML for a improvement.

How the heck are you going to trade Lynch. He just sprained his ankle, has 2 strikes from the commish, your starting runner Jackson just broke his hand and the other 3 guy's never have taken a snap in the NFL(simpson maybe). Get real ain't going to happen. We need Lynch more than ever given our QB's performance. We need to run the ball and then run some more. Keep rotating backs eat the clock and keep Trent Edwards off his butt.

  17. That's what happens when they did'nt sign Peter's, cut Walker, and Butler retires. I think Chambers is being given another chance under a differant line coach in hopes he would improve. He did fill in well for the often injured Peters at left tackle 2 years ago. He's on the bubble and true Wang's injury, Bell's injury, and Calloway being better suited to playing guard are his saving graces.

  18. I am not a fan of Joe Theisman but I would like to address what he said. He stated that the "Bills looked tired." I am not sure if I agree with his statement. However, his statement greatly concerns me. IMHO, the Bills looked flat, uninspired, lost, unmotivated, lacking toughness, lacking emotion, etc.... That is not what I expected from a Chan Gailey team. I expected the team the make many mistakes but what I didn't expect was the above mentioned. I think Gailey had a chance to make a positive statement to us fans. (ie) Our team is going to play hard, be tough, kick some ass, get into some fights, play dirty, and scream, jump around, show some emotion, and hopefully improve and win some games in the future. Instead, what I saw was a continuation of the Juaron era. He looked like a confused, lost, and dumbfounded on the sidelines. I know it is early so I hope things change fast....

Joe was correct. Our players looked slow and uninspired compared the Skins. Maybe the new schemes, but the skins are running new schemes also. Whatever the case Shanahan outclassed Gailey in preping the team to play. Hopefully the team will see how a real team is supposed to perform and they will show more spark next week.
