I bet ole Chan wishes he could have gotten Hairston into more games this pre season......
Its a touchy thing with Chris Hairston....he has played a ton but when they put him in I bet he graded out extremely well.......
Wang is gonna get cut
This would be Nix/Chan's first drafted player to be cut, i think? They would have to admit a mistake. Wang may still find his way as a back up tackle. He did'nt do as bad as any other lineman in the 1st preseason game. He was'nt moving guys off the line, but was'nt getting beaten any worse than i've seen Bell beaten sometimes. Bell is good when healthy and i think if the line as whole plays together longer they will get better.

Makes me appreciate Fitzpatrick all the more. Say what you want about his strength and accuracy, the kid can stand in there and take a hit. Fitz has pocket sense enough to take off and get yards instead of the sack also. I got to give Edwards respect also, any QB has to have balls to stand behind our lineman and let a 250 lb linebacker run full speed down your throat.

ESPN and NFL network both are biased to the front runners. I only hear about Philly, NE, Indy, Jets, Balt. They don't like small market teams. Green Bay won the Super Bowl last year, yet they still get little exposure. You would think Philly won the SB by all the talk they get. I would love nothing more than to see the Bills go 12-4 win the division and watch NFL network commentators try to explain themselves.ESPN is the Wal-Mart of sports now.
Pay attention to the brands that make the most $ (Vick, pats, and Peyton etc) and whatever sells.
The Bills do NOT sell. Hence, you will get lazy writing like this from Clayton who probably can't see what the Bills are going because he and other NFL hacks have their head so far up the corporate ass of Roger Goddell that they don't know any better.
the new dictator of the NFL has made it CLEAR he has favorites, no matter how much spin he provides for the schills like Peter King etc to report as 'facts'.
Having said this, with Ralph's reputation around the league, and the 11 years of non-playoff appearances, can you really blame these hacks for feeling about Buffalo the way that they do?

Didn't read all the above posts but Steve Tasker jumps to my mind. Cut and left for dead, Polian had a hunch.
Steve Tasker is the number one rags to riches player. Cut by the Houston Oilers. Picked up by Buffalo. Should be at the top af the list.

So have I. The line looks stout. When Jackson is picking up the free man --like he does tremendously well, there's plenty of time for Fitzpatrick to put Chan's scheme to work.
I like the starting line of bell, levitre, wood, urbik, and pears also. I think they just need to play more together and things will be fine. We have to pick the starting 5 and go with it. We have no pro bowlers, but if they function well as a unit and stay healthy it will go a long way.

Fred Jackson is the key to picking up the blitzer which will be coming. C.J. was terrible at this last year and the reason he isn't ready to start yet.

I'm tired of our players always getting hurt. When are we going to be the team delivering the punishment? I hope last night was a wake up call. It's kill or be killed. Our team needs to be more aggresive. They play like it's flag football no emotion, no aggresion.

No. It's just humorous that the majority of posters think that Brady and the Pats are bound for an epic collapse this year. Or that the Dolphins will finish with 3-4 wins. I just don't get it. Hope I'm wrong.
They look like an offensive machine. Defense will not need to be great. Brady just sits back and surveys the field, timing, rythem, it's disgusting. Only can hope to dismember Brady, that's the only way to kill it.

Ive seen enough of thigpen, let levi play he has more upside.

Pears didn't look out of place last night, not a stud superstar but for a first preseason game he didn't do anything to embarass himself.
Urbik on the other hand was like a deer in the head lights. On the screen pass to Spiller all he had to do was put his body on the defender who was a couple of feet away and CJ would have had a chance to break it. Instead Urbik stood there ... Again, it's the first preseason game but if the reports out of camp are correct we may see last year's center at RG and last year's RG at center. Geoff would at least is a smart player and at guard he wouldn't be blown away by NT's any more.
That was woods guy(urlacher) Wood wiffed badly and slid to ground urbik tried to clean up but. urbik was'nt great, but not that bad either. Overall oline was fine for the talent they have.

As much as we say Maybin sucks, guess who drafted him with their first pick? It's not Maybins fault really. The Bills front office sucks, not Maybin get over it. The Bills sucked on that pick. Maybins probaly laughing, he knows he sucks, it's taken the Bills three years to figure it out.

Coy Wire going into his 10th season. Dude must be something right.

Their offensive line is mega deep, stacked. Pro bowl LT and Colombo at Rt, pouncy center incognito and vernon carey at guards. Reports are their backups are looking very good also. Their defense could be a top 3 with young shut down corners, #99 back, cameron wake, and koa misa at LB's. I think they will be very competitve. Henne has nothing to lose so he will let it fly to Marshall. Their dline is also young, strong and very underrated. Can the coach get the players to buy in to him is the question.
-
Yeah, because guys like Mike Gandy and Jonathan Scott will never get a sniff of a Super Bowl...no wait, both of those Bills castoffs started in the Super Bowl at tackle right?
I definitely do not love our tackle depth and am reserved about our tackle talent, but I think Bell will be above average this year and not a big focus of blame. Remember last year he was coming off the major injury and limited in practice reps, etc. And we all KNOW no matter who plays there, RT will be better this year than last year. It is still the #1 position I was hoping we would reinforce, but I don't think things are as dire as your statement indicates.
I liked johnathan scott as rt and thought he was progressing better than bell. never understood that cut if your going to develop young guys. he was'nt great in pitt last year and even got benched for a spell in s.b., but wang is a downgrade for sure.
Marc Colombo was available to play RT, but fins picked him up, solid vet. I think Vernon Carey and Bryant Mckinnie showed up to their teams fat and out of shape. Vernon maybe out in miami soon, but if these guys are too fat and slow forget it. We will be scanning the waivers for sure.

You guys come up with the craziest scenarios man.
I got one for you? What if Jamarcus Russell PAYED the Bills to let him be the starting QB for two years so that he can prove that he can play ball and clear his name? Would ya?
Now that's crazy, but why would trading for a vet be crazy? we did with Blesoe.
-
That's a big negative Ghost Rider. We already have a starting QB, and Carson Palmer is not going to be our QB of the future (for obvious reasons).
Would you then draft a qb and why if you have a starter? No qb needed this year then?
-
Would Chan bite? He has proven he can play outdoors? He wants out of Cincy, so he must be smart? He did'nt look good last year, but with T.O. yelling in one ear and Chad in another who would? Would you give up a second and say a fifth to fill in the starting Qb for the next five years with a vet?
-
That is, well, i don't even know how to categorize that line of thinking.
Why take Marcell Dareus when Dwan Edwards gets us decent production?
Let's just forgo the draft this year. That way, the Bills can't screw it up and no one can complain.
We got to go DL after being ranked last against the run. We need large bodies on defense DL probaly 2-3 players as Stroud is gone Carrington and Troupe are unproven Edwards is a vet fill in. We need big inside LB's poz should move outside and Moates should start. Then there's safety, if Whitner is not brought back then what? Defense with all the picks and it could be justified. I think a second round or third round pick in Locker in second or Kapernick third or fourth as development is possible. Levi Brown has arm strenghth, but if Fitz went down season over scenerio would be more interesting if we had a shiney new rookie>
-
What a waste of human being. With a little effort could of at least played out his contract. Had the physical tools, but i think he just took the money and ran. Codeine Cough Syrup and Hookers baby, hope he makes it Epic!
-
This is your “realistic” draft? Sorry man, but hate to break it to you
Coztanza -1st rounder
Phil Taylor – 2nd Rounder (Id love him with our 2nd)
Sheppard – 2nd Rounder
Stocker – 2nd, MAYBE 3rd Rounder
Ballard – 2nd rounder
All of your round 2-5 picks are more than likely going to go in the 2nd, with your 2nd rounder going in the 1st. The only one of those guys we have a legit shot at with the pick you listed in Green.
If we could trade down and pick up Taylor, then Stocker, i would be stoked.

Nothing to get worked up about!!! I have a lot of Jets fans as friends and I have to listen to their mockery of the Bills all off season. I go to work everyday and I have to perform to the best of my abilities. These players and coaches show up to work and it looks as if they don't even care how they perform. Absolutely brutal.
The scary thing is, I'm already worried that they will screw up the first pick in the draft.
Nothing to get worked up about? When your starters get their ass handed to them by special teamers and third stringers when do you get worked up. The jets coaches and players were laughing so hard at our clown players. They did everything but pull down their pants and moon us. The last to weeks have put things into prespective very clearly. We have a long long ways to go. Time to blow this team up.
-
Wish they would give him a few carries, he's a short yardage beast, and can catch the ball as well. Bill's fans love him because of his blue collar work ethic. This team has one less hole to fill thanks to Mcintrye. He's also very durable. Go Southfork Bulldog!

It sure helped to have an HOF QB to help turn things around. I saw Jim Kelly play, Ryan Fitzpatrick is no Jim Kelly.
He ain't no jim kelly, but he's playing the part as well as anybody has since.

Bruce Smith went through pretty much the same drill. Wasn't ready to play when he came in, stunk up the joint, got his stuff together by year 3 and away he went. Maybin may be similar. Cocky, overhyped, gets B word slapped, gains a few pounds and a little humility, and away he may go sometime next year...
No he did'nt. Bruce came in at 300 lbs. slimmed down and kicked ass the next season. Maybin weighs 215 soak and wet and has 1/10 the humbleness of The Bruce Smith.

I think makes drafting a qb a second priority at this point. DL and LB need some serious help. At least this will buy time to groom a qb for a year and not to have to throw a rookie into the fire. I always knew Fitz had the smarts, but i'm impressed with his guts to put the ball in there and to run when he see's the chance. His arm strength has been impressive. The o-line pass protected very well yesterday, i saw Fitz making a lot of calls on who to pick and where they were coming from. Something JP and Trent did not do.
Tyler Thigpen or Levi Brown?

Brown will be #3. Thigpen gone his third team is three years will not get him the third string.
