  1. The jets are in the PERFECT position. Win and they are in. Lose and a loss by either buffalo or denver and they are in. That said, they are playing horrible lately and I dont see them doing anything in the playoffs.

Denver is also in a dream situation. They control their own destiny by themselves. Win and they are in. Again, they are not playing all that well either, and dont look to make a run in the playoffs.

Buffalo is in a rough spot. They need to win and get some help to get in. Never an enviable situation since the jets are playing a team they can beat, and the colts are resting their starters for what seems like most of the game. But if they get into the playoffs, they are likely to be a force.

I wouldnt trade my bills for anything...but if these 3 situations were interchangable, obviously the jets situation is most favorible, but I would rather be red hot going into the playoffs than limping in as the broncos and jets would be. If we go 10-6, and miss the playoffs...we set a PERFECT tone for next season.

  2. Just to enhance my football watching process today, is there a 4th team that could sneak in and grab that last WC spot if both buffalo and denver lose today?

If buff and denver lose, they are both 9-7. The jets get in at 10-6 (or 11-5), but could baltimore or jacksonville at 9-7 sneak past both buffalo and denver with a win?

Just wondering. Hopefully someone has looked at the tiebreakers

  3. I'm torn. One one hand, I love to see the B©S as screwed up as possible, so I want Utah to go undefeated.

On the other hand, I am a syracuse fan, and want the big east to remain strong. This would be helped alot by a pitt win...

All things considered, right now i think the viability of the big east is the most important. So I think I have to go with Pitt....

  4. There is so much skill involved in putting together a good baseball team its ridiculous.  I mean, having to bring these kids up and spot that talent early on while juggling the salary cap the entire time.  I don’t know how the Yankees do it!

    *

They used to do it. The yankees were known for their farm system about 10 years ago. It was great. Then they traded all these guys away, and now have no farm system and buy everything they need.

when will this insanity end doh.gif

It will end when the yankees have a 300 million dollar payroll and 50 wins to show for it.

Actually, its close to an end now. Realistically they have someone playing every position making 10mil/year plus. They cant go much higher, without displacing somene already on the roster.

Disclaimer: I am a die-hard yankees fan who does not approve of the direction of the team at the moment. George needs to get his hands off this team, and let cashman handle the personnel moves.

  5. Update from the pilot....

FBI discounts terror threat in Naval Base bomb threat

NORFOLK -– FBI agents and members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force responded to the scene of a reported bomb threat near Norfolk Naval Station shortly after noon today, but there’s no indication that the incident is a genuine terrorist threat, an FBI spokesman said.

“We’re evaluating and assessing the situation,” said Phil Mann, an FBI spokesman. “We have no indication that anybody’s been harmed.”

Two Hampton Roads Transit buses were stopped on Hampton Boulevard near the naval station after a bomb threat was phoned in this morning, officials said. Police have erected barricades on Hampton at Greenbrier Avenue blocking traffic to the base.

Jim Brantley, a public affairs officer for the Navy’s Fleet Forces Command, which is headquartered at the naval station, said at about 12:25 p.m. that Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams and civilian police teams were getting ready to inspect the buses. Passengers have been taken off the buses, which were directed to Fleet Park, a Navy park located outside the gates of the largest naval station in the world.

The Associated Press reported that a base spokeswoman had said an anonymous caller told police "a lot of people are going to die."

Brantley said police were interviewing bus passengers. It was unclear whether a passenger made the call to police, but the caller specifically mentioned one bus by its number, Brantley said. That bus was pulled over, as was another, after the call was received between 9:30 and 10 a.m.

Everyone within 1,500 yards of the park was evacuated, Brantley said.

  6. Here's my conspiracy theory: The Colts are expecting to face Buffalo in the playoffs and what better way to prepare than to pick someone up that knows our entire playbook. Brown - you bastard!!!!!

Knows the playbook?! I am not sure Mularkey knows whats in the playbook! Remember, when Travis was here, Henry was the RB. We were tryign to find a way to protect drew. Evans was mearly a blip on our offensive radar. We were throwing every pass to EM, and trying to incorporate Reed. We had 2-3 decent TE's which we no longer have, and I doubt many of mularkeys trick plays were developed so early.

If anything, Brown might be able to help them read our defense a little better, but I suspect payton is more than capable of doing that himself.

I just hope he wants to help out his old team, and let us in the playoffs by trouncing the broncos.

  7. Mock and laugh at Jerry Jones and parcells? Please. Sometimes trades work out well for both teams.

We have analyzed Buffalos take on this, and I agree, but for a second look at this from Dallas' point of view.

They passed up steven jackson (124 rushes, 644 yds) For Julius Jones (168 rushes, 670yds).

I do think Jackson is the better back, but it isnt by much.

Dallas got their Running back they despratly needed, and in the process picked up an "extra" first round pick!

They could have stayed with Steven Jackson, and not had an extra first rounder.

Point is, this was an EXCELLENT trade for Dallas. Sometimes in our blue and red colored glasses we fail to see that, Remember though, that just because it was an marvelous trade by dallas, does NOT mean it was a bad trade for us.
