  1. Pit is not as good as their record indicates. Dont get me wrong, they are a very good club, but not 11-1 good. They have gotten pretty lucky recently, and big ben hasnt been anything special (though he looks good today).

The game in buffalo should be interesting. I think we can pull it out. But by no means is it "not a challenge". Playing a team that is 14-1 (or at worst 11-4) is ALWAYS a challange.

  2. Well if they can add yards after the game is over. Why not just give us a win for the stevestojan calls in oakland.

Great Idea! Perhaps we can petition the league to give us a win in that game (so both us and okland have a W). Or at least a tie. A tie right now would be so key in this playoff race. I take it!

  3. I dont know. Im struggling vick vs. roth.

Plummer vs. KC is a good play though unless people really get under his skin with the finger thing.

Vick has been downright miserable the last 2 weeks and cost me a game last week.

    I say Plummer.

Any input on vick vs. roth?

  4. The NHL needs to fix this once and for all. If that means abolishing the NHL and starting a new league, so be it. Hockey needs to learn from the other sports. Here is what they need to do:

    1) Establish both a minimum and a maximum salary cap.

    2) Give Franchises breaks on the cap for resigning their own players to promote a long-term team identity and not just laundry.

    3) Promote the college game as the road to professional Hockey.

    4) Open up the ice by allowing the 2 line pass

    5) Eliminate or restrict southern teams with little if any following until the market demands it (and I live in the south).

    6) Pay all players in canadian money.

    7) Hockey should not be played in June. Shorten the season and games will become more meaningful. Try a 60 game season for starters.

    8) Drastically alter overtime so that every game will have a winner. My proposal: 1st a 5v5 5 min OT period followed by a 4x4 5 minute overtime period. If the game is still tied, do what college football does and give each team alternating 5x4 2 minute Power plays until the game is decided. That would be exciting.

    9) Find that big time star and promote the hell out of him. Hockey has no gretsky or lemieux anymore (okay, so he still plays, its not the same). Ask the average Joe on the street who ITO, is the best player in hockey, and they are probably clueless. The NHL needs a face. This lockout is becoming that face.

  5. JAX:

    Missed from Jax 24

Punted from Jax 38 (53 yarder?) Nugent can make those

    Oakland:

    Punt from Oak 37

    Jets:

    Punt from the 37

Yep. Exactly. He makes those 3 50+ yarders (a stretch even for a good kicker), and we beat the jets and go to OT vs. Oakland and Jax.

Instead of 7-6, we would be at least 8-5 and possibly 10-3 right now. You tell me Lindell is a good kicker.

  6. One other thing I like about my Ipod. I have the Itrip transmitter, which allows me to broadcast a weak FM signal, enough to play over my car radio without running any wires. Just tune into a dead station and program itrip to broadcast to that station and whappah....programmable radio.

  7. You would need to give me a "Regular mp3 player" to compare it too, but I have a Ipod, and I love it. It has alot of capacity, moreso than alot of the typical mp3 players you see in a store. That really is the big determining factor, hard disk size. Also the ease of the software.

  8. I have followed this fairly closely for the duration. Living in norfolk Va, i was desperatly hoping they would come here.

The problem with the virginia bids now (NoVa and Hampton Roads), is that a good chunk of the money promised to baseball, was done so by the state of Virginia. This money had a sunset clause of Dec. 31 2004, which as you all konw is just a couple weeks away. The legislature met and decided not to extend this legislation. Bottom Line, NoVa and HR do not have a complete financial package anymore, and therefore are unlikely to aquire the expos for the 2005 season (not to mention neither has a place for them to play in 05 even if awarded the team)

Las Vegas and Portland would seem like the only places feasible at the moment if baseball wanted to grab a permanent location now. Portland has a very detailed financial proposal, however it appears as if the newly elected city council might not be as gung-ho on the idea as the old one was.

That leaves Vegas..Sin City. Home of casinos gambling and prostitution. Granted this is my kind of place, but somehow I just dont see MLB liking it all that much.

This just keeps getting more and more interesting...I wonder if those FA's they signed can get out of their contract if the team does not move to DC.

  9. Until they come up with a cap I just can't watch baseball anymore. These guys make too much damn money and the same teams are in it every year. How can anyone get excited about this "sport"?

I grew up a Yankees fan (my father is hardcore), but even I can't stand how they buy their teams. The lack of salary cap and complete control that the players union has over the league has ruined baseball for me.

    Yep.

    2001 Arizona Diamondbacks

    2002 Anaheim Angels

    2003 Florida Marlins

    2004 Boston Red Sox

Yep, same teams in it every year...

People always complain about money. The fact is, and its being proven, that you cannot buy a championship in baseball. Complain all you want to about a salary cap, but it obviously isnt making a difference in the the results.
