Great thread. I admit I work with wine daily and am trusted with recomendations so I kinda know my stuff. I'm typically a fan of big Austrailian reds and Californian cabs with a few Zins once in a while. Nothing like a great shiraz that is nice and jammy with hints of cocoa, fruit, and coffee notes too maybe. If anyone is wondering where to start, there is no right answer. Just start buying lots of different bottles to try (definitely start cheap) and even if you love a wine, move on to something new. That wine will always be there to go back to, but you never know if there is something else you may like more. Try different wine regions, too. You'll find out quickly that there are huge differences between old world and new world wines. (I'm a fan of new world, i.e., Aussy, US, mainly because you don't get as much earthy-ness and you usually get more fruit.) Hopefully someone will find that useful.

However, I don't think this is TGs fault. He basically saved the team. I would say Darcy has his head in the sand.
It's not Tommy's fault at all. Darcy and Quinn are the ones to blame. Why anyone would think that TG would have any input in the on ice product is insane. He didn't even follow the sport before he bought the swordsmen. This thread is absurd.

Jenkins is actually smaller than Moulds by a bit. He's not going to be what we're looking for, as far as a bigger target for the red zone. However, I think he's going to shine as ST'er this year. He just has a knack for that.

#10 on his jersey, #3 on the depth chart, and #1 in our hearts.

has anyone from Maryland actual gone to a game? I wish I knew more area Bills fans
I live in Maryland and I have season tickets, so... yes. I had made the trip to at least one game every year since '92 and it just escalated from there.

Oh yeah i forgot we have the sure handed Josh Reed. He never drops passes
Reed played well last year. He made some big catches, even if he happened to disappear at other times.

Real classy, Islanders fans. Real class.
That has happened in Buffalo before, too. As well as plenty of other arenas.

Posluszny is not worth the 12th pick
But to his credit, he never said Poz was the 12th pick. Just "the" pick. So he's going to be right, regardless.

Saw the Terrell Owens interview of Ricky Williams. Bottom line was T.O. thinks Ricky is going to kick ass when he returns to football. Implied Miami might not be the place to do it. Ricky says he has refound his "love of the game"missing since college days, but still wants to avoid the Media and keep a low profile.
Sounds like that log cabin out in the Boston/Colden hills is calling you Ricky!
GITERDONE Marv.
That was definitely Terrell Davis. You think the media would actually hire TO to conduct interviews?

If both Drury and Briere accept offers from other teams, we are still looking at:
Lindy Ruff
Ryan Miller
All seven of the current defensemen, with Paestch probably moving into the top-6 assuming Numminen retires (after winning the Cup, wink wink)
plus....
Roy
Vanek
Stafford
Max
Connolly
Kotalik
Gaustad
Pominville
Hecht
Paille
Zubrus maybe
Mair
MacArthur
Peters
Ryan
And depending on the cap, close to $10M of money to play with.
You would struggle to find one team in the NHL who wouldn't take that package right now. Add in either Briere or Drury, and wow....Losing one or both would certainly be a hit to the scoresheet and probably more so to the locker room, but damn if this team isn't well-positioned to remain a force. You will NOT see that roster miss the playoffs next year, a la Carolina this year.
Ryan and Mair are both UFA's as well. Plus, Vanek, Roy, Paille, Paestch, and Peters are RFA's and will need tenders or long-term deals. Basically, the future does look bright still, but they won't have much money to play with after taking care of the RFA's and any UFA's they decide to keep.

Contract talk can be done at ANY time between GM and agent and should never really be a distraction to anybody. That's media speak.
Moving on...
I PM'd our pious Canadian friend (and Leafs' fan), millbank last night after the game and one of the things I NEEDED to say was, "Since the acquisition of Briere and Drury this team is a blue collar, but skilled phenomenon." As much as I credit Lindy (and to a lesser degree, Darcy) for this team's turn-around, it started, IMO with Briere and Drury. And, the team's consistent effort/heart, etc comes from these two guys, IMO.
I'm guessing we can't afford them both, but I'm sure hoping we can. These are the kind of players you want to be on your team until they retire, if financially possible.
Darcy is not going to talk contract now, but I'm not sure if you were implying that or not. I do believe it would be a distraction for one player to know he's coming back and won't have to worry about his contract, while the other guy has to know he will be someplace completely different after the season ends. Plus, how will their teammates respond?
At the same time, if the Sabres are able to deal Kalinin and Kotalik (both are way overpaid and over-rated), they will at least have some wiggle room and they could potentially put contracts on the table for both Drury and Briere.

Sorry about the delay. Had a late class. SF selects John Wendling, DB from Wyoming

For $6-7 million a year I'd let Drury go and re-sign Briere, thats really overpaying Drury, 5-5.5 mil tops for 5 years. Briere I would offer 6-7 million.
I would not want to lose either, and would rather see Connolly, Hecht, Kotalik go before either Drury or Briere, but if Darcy doesn't get his @ss in gear and start talking contrct, both will be gone. If either gets to sniff FA, they will not stay in Buffalo
Why the hell would they talk contract now? This is the worst possible time for it. Not only would it be a distraction, but it would certainly tell the other guy that he's as good as gone.
Don't give them contracts yet. Give them the opportunity to earn a bigger offer in the playoffs. The season will end (at the latest) in early June. July 1st is the start of free agency and that is when Darcy can worry about it.

SF selects Jacoby Jones, WR, Lane College
-
The 'Niners select Quinn Pitcock, DT, from THE Ohio "We-lost-2-National-Championships-in-a-3-month-period" State University.
-
I don't think Minnesota is here.
-
There are quite a few rumors that Atlanta wants him. Talk about a difference in style from your starter to your backup.
-
I have a question. There are four supplemental picks at the end of round 3 this year. Are these going to be included in our mock?
-
SF selects LB Patrick Willis, Ole Miss.
-
you mean like Jim Kelly?
Give me one example of a player of his character to come from that "school" recently. They are all "me" guys.
-
What a steal that would be! Our 12th for Turner and Beason- two huge needs filled with 3 more picks in the second and third rounds. We could draft CB-WR-LB or maybe even Leonard for FB- I love it!
No. Miami. Players. Please.
-
I'll take the 'Niners.
-
I'm fairly content with mine...
Old style...
52 Blue Holecek
12 Blue Kelly
78 Blue B. Smith
81 White P. Price
New Style...
11 Blue Bledsoe (Changed the name with whiteout so it reads "Roscoe")
36 White Milloy
7 White Losman
7 Throwback Losman
71 Throwback Peters (My newest and for a decent price thanks to that online code)

No,No,No
"Poz" might be great I don't really know, but I do know people have a tendency to root for people that they think they see some of themselves in. Every short guy in town LOVED Doug Flutie, every East Indian is voting for Sanjaya, and every fat guy rents Ron Jeremy videos......it's universal. It just clouds their judgement thats all.
Good points. I just didn't comprehend that from your first post. I think Poz will be a decent NFL starter, but taking him at 12 would be a mistake.
I feel the need, the need for SWEED

Wow. Great points. I'm convinced.
