  1. We were talking about this at work recently. There is some precedent like this in pro sports. The San Antonio Spurs had some great seasons w/ David Robinson and either won their division or finished 2nd for 7 straight years. If you check the history, Robinson got hurt for the 1996-97 season and they went 20-62. The Spurs totally lucked out and won the draft lottery that season and got Tim Duncan. This pissed off alot of teams that had perennial losing seasons and of course the Spurs went on to win 4 Championships over the next 10 years (and seemingly were in the finals or semi-finals every year).

There's your history lesson. Could this be similar to the 2012 draft fortunes of the Indy Colts? We'll see.

  2. I am flying up to the game this weekend, and can't find a hotel room anywhere in the area. There are rooms on the Canadian side of the Niagra, but that is not an option. The next room I found was in Batavia!!! What gives?

On a Side Note: Put Freddy Jackson on defense and allow him free reign.

There's gotta be a couple thousand Eagles fans going to the game, I'm sure some will be spending the night. Also, a UB home game so any leftover rooms around Amherst might be snagged by some Ohio folks.

  3. Do you realize it was only less than a year ago that people were saying it was the Low point for Buffalo sports? The Bills and Sabres had the worst records in their respective leagues. Neither was showing signs of life. Of course things got better and now we sit here with the 3-1 Bills and the Sabres touted as one of the Eastern Conference favorites.. Lets hear it for some optimism!!

  4. They're not going to win all the home games, they never do. So please don't get suicidal if they lose a home game or two. The Bills will win a couple more tough games we think could be losses...and they will lose a couple more like Cinci, where we think they should win. Let's just hope they get to 10 wins and even that is not a guarantee for playoffs.

  5. This is one of those home games we've lost many times over the last decade...just like New England. It's the typical game like New Orleans or Houston where we hang with their offense or keep it in check and then fade in the 4th. If the Bills are a legit playoff wildcard type team...they will win this game. If they are an improved 7-9, 8-8 type team then they lose. Guess we'll find out Sunday at about 4:15.

  6. It's a weird year. I have noticed many "good" teams have given up lot's of yardage too. I think when it's all said and done, Cinci just may end up with a Top 3 defense overall and we may look at that game yesterday differently.

The Bills D is better but mainly b/c they are getting some takeaway and TD's this year. They still can't get off the field on crucial 3rd (and 4th) downs. They still give up chunk yardage in alarming numbers.

  7. I think i predicted a 23-16 Bills win in the prediction thread. I absolutely knew this would be close. Cinci wanted this game badly and you could see them out-physical the Bills all day. They would seem to pile 3 guys on top of every Bills ball carrier on a tackle and give them a little "extra". I thought Cinci was chippy after the whistle...but they WANTED it so good for them. Their D is better than ours and even though we got jobbed on SJ's "drop", I thought overall Cinci dominated and deserved to win. Maybe the Bills will learn from it or maybe they peaked already.

  8. This year more than ever...seems like half dozen teams a week come back from being double digit points down to win.. weird. I guess the teams that are behind have more urgency and the teams ahead just subconsciously lay back. Today it was the Bills, Eagles, Cards, Cowboys and probably a couple others...

  9. That is what scares me about Quinn. The guy showed up with Gregg William's bullhorn. So far he's looking pretty inept but he blames his players instead of looking at what he's doing. He benches certain players for god knows what. The 2010 Sugar Bowl blowout Quinn served as head coach in turned out to be an omen of things to come.

I'm disappointed a bit in Turner Gill, mostly because all that talk about loving Buffalo was just talk. Gill also mailed it in his final season after not getting a BCS job after winning the MAC. He should have concentrated on UB and established the program for at least two more seasons. He probably would have been better prepared to move on.

    PTR

In hindsight, Gill should have stayed at UB and created a legacy for himself and the program. I mean he could've built that team into a perennial MAC contender. Instead he was just using UB like any other stepping stone and he's very close to getting fired from KU unless his club makes a drastic turnaround this season. I don't have the same distaste for Quinn that you appear to have but he's clearly not the answer...yet. We'll see.

Anyway, whosever going to UT tomorrow, have fun!!

  10. As i said last week, NE was the team we could never beat. Cinci is the team we can't seem to lose to. One streak is broken, let's hope the other stays intact. My guess is that the Bills fall a little flat in a very glum atmosphere. Cinci is hungry for a win against us and plays tough. I'd be happy getting out of there with a 23-17 win and I think that it will play out like that.

  11. Bills are still the darling underdog "coming together" at the right time. The media still perceives them as the "little team that could". The Bills are still the hunter of the big bad Jets, Pats, Steelers, etc... I really like the first year of getting good and hope they can parlay this into a playoff appearance and a Deep one at that. You know that once a team shows they are upper tier team, the expectations change and media/opponents treat them differently.

Not sure if I am articulating what i'm thinking but i think you guys get it...

  12. Selfishly, I hate late/prime time games. But it's great to see the Bills get some recognition. If we keep playing like this we'll definitely get some night games next year, and we'll see about schedule changes this year...

    Go Bills!

If things continue look for the Bills/Jets game to be flexed on NBC in November. They play on a day when the KC Chiefs are scheduled for Sunday Night football. NO way they don't flex that out.

  13. 11) Gailey is an offensive genius. It baffles me that he wasn't a long time NFL head coach. It's even a little freaky, but so is this entire team. It's as if I still, at 3-0, don't know exactly how to rate them. The pass rush is a big concern, but there is something really good about this football team that it's hard to put into words. At the risk of sounding cliche, this team plays with heart. Heart and determination that I'm not sure if I've ever seen before from any Buffalo Bills football team, and that's quite the compliment.

This. It's unbelievable that as recently as early last season, we had maybe the worst and most boring offense in the league with Lynch, Evans and Edwards. Now Gailey has put the right people in place and the Bills have possibly the most exciting and dynamic offense. Fantastic job not only with personnel but with schemes and play calling.
