  1.

I am going to go out on a limb here, but I would say after a dozen years and multiple pro-bowls and all pro lists, the Eagles think he was worth both the money they paid him and the picks they gave up for him.

I have no real data to back this up...just sort of guessing.

    He was something, Matt.

    No doubt.

Not a bad career so far for an undrafted player. . . .

  2. Maybe another buyer in the Tackle market, depending on the MRI results. Anybody (else) we could use from Philly?

I don't know, maybe Carson Wentz?

Man, I used to love watching Peters play for the Bills. What a monster on the field. Watching opponents cower as he went to break up the kick return wedge (or hold their ground and get destroyed) was always great entertainment.

  3. Congrats J6P.

No one mentioned it that I saw, so I need to ask: did she think you actually did something to harm the air conditioner? It was a feature of the apartment, so shouldn't the landlord repair/replace it, just like if the central AC went out?

Sorry for the hassle you endured. At least you got a story out of it!

  4. I actually agree that Bran will kill or vanquish the the Night King, likely by manipulating/enabling others to carry out his work

Outstanding questions raised by the series:

    > Do the white walkers bring the winter/cold, or does the cold bring the white walkers?

    > What does the Night King (NK) and army or the dead want?

    > What is the relationship between the Night King and Three-Eyed Raven?

    > What are the powers of the Three-Eyed Raven (TER) besides semi-omniscience?

    > Is the "Lord of Light" real? (strong indication of yes)

    > Who / where is the Lord of Light, and what does he want?

I think these are all related and tied together. The Long Night happened millennia ago, the last time the white walkers were supposedly seen (at least south of the current wall). My take is that the three-eyed raven over the last century at least has quickly defeated the periodic advance of the Night King through his manipulation of others, and winter has been brief or nonexistent. With the three-eyed raven finally getting very old, he has been unable to check the Night King, who has been playing the long game, gathering a huge army before heading south.

My guess is that Bran is the Lord of Light (LOL), and that the power of the TER is to influence others, and control fire/life, the way the NK controls the cold and brings death.

With Bran being weak and inexperienced, I think a very long winter will fall until he masters his power, and the Red priests/priestesses will be a major part of pressing back the winter. I suspect the NK will be killed, along with all of the creatures he has animated, but winter will not be gone forever. At least one of the generals will disappear off to the north to return again another year.

  5. Have you watched this season?

Arya went toe to toe with Beienne who is much larger than Littlefinger. Same result same amount of time.

Yes, that was humor. I don't think a trial by combat would have lasted any longer than his execution did.

That Brienne / Arya fight scene may be my favorite of the series. I am not sure GRRM will allow such a homecoming at Winterfell. It was hugely satisfying.

  6. Alright, after hiding from the Internet and world since Sunday, I finally got around to watching the season finale.

I have read through this thread and there are a few plotlines I haven't seen many comments on:

1). What is Jaime going to end up doing?

2). When LittleFinger was being accused, I thought for a moment he was going to demand a trial by combat. For a nano moment I thought it was even going to be him vs Ariya. Any think this?

3). When they had the meeting in the beginning of the episode, couldn't one of the dragons just have fried Cersei and all Lannister leadership? I know this wouldnt accomplish their goals of fighting the army of the dead. But once Cersei said no deal why not fry them then?

4). After the Tyrion/ Cersei discussion and the decision to work together, why separate your teams and make separate plans? At that point it would've made sense to consolidate armies and plan a strategy together?

5). How did Cersei and Euron have the plan for him to go get the mercenaries? He stormed off only after seeing the whitewalker. Did they know that thing was coming?

Might have some more thoughts after some rest. Thanks for the help.

    1) Die saving someone, likely Brienne or Dany/John completing his path of redemption. Alternately, die killing someone (Cersei), completing his path of redemption.

    2) That did flash through my mind. Arya is smaller than him, so it would probably be an even fight.

    3) They could have broken the parlay truce, but it is against all civilized protocol. To this point I really wanted a shot to show the relative positions of the armies. I suspect it was even-distance from each army and likely meant either side betraying would likely be killed themselves.

    4) This was fine, I think. They agreed the urgency was to get North. But still, you are right that a swapping of some men as pseudo-hostages would have made sense.

    5) I think they agreed for Euron to be belligerent and end off storming off one way or another by the end off the meeting.

  7. Alrighty, we've got a year to spout wild theories, sooo, why wait? I think whether it's the books or the series writers, the prophecies have to pay off, or we've been wasting a lot of time. So, we need The Prince that was Promised. They have finally confirmed that Jon is Prince Aegon, so I'm going with him. Cersei needs to fear the little brother. I'm going to throw a wild card out there and say the Hound kills Cersei incidentally to trying to kill the Mountain. No kids for Dany, but one of the dragons turns out to be female and lays three eggs before all three dragons go down in the final battles. Tyrion sits on the Iron throne having been revealed a Targ, with Varys his hand. Dany dies, Jon/Aegon dies. Jaime dies. Bronn lives. Arya disappears, nobody knows if she's alive or dead. Does Cersei use some Iron Bank cash to hire a faceless man? Seems like we need Jaquen H'gar to put in a final appearance. I forgot how many characters are still alive and need story lines wrapped up.

    > I like your theory of the Hound killing Cersei, but I don't think he is going to accidentally choke her, unless this is somehow metaphorical (see below)

Cersei: Will the king and I have children?

Maggy: Oh, aye. Six-and-ten for him, and three for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds, she said. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.

    > I think John and Dany's boy is the prince that was promised.

More guesses: John dies in battle; Dany dies in childbirth after the war; Tyrion is the acting king until their son is of age.

    >At the end of the series I think we see a few things: Spring literally returning: snow melting, green sprout etc.. I too suspect all of the dragon’s die, or at very least the last injured one flies off after Dany dies. either this, or we get some indication of dragon eggs.

    >Also, near the very end someone unassuming kills Arya and reveals himself as Jaqen H’ghar, holding her as she dies. She has stolen many lives from the many-faced God, and only death can pay for life. . . .

  8. She definitely said "Aegon?"

At first, I thought she said "Edard Targaryan."

Me too! I would have liked that much better.

I take it they had just heard of his children being killed in King's Landing and the same news caused them to both name their baby Aegon and for Lyanna to beg Ned to lie and protect him.

  9.

    Meh.

The Greyjoys are in my opinion the most useless House and most useless storyline in the entire plot.

Why should I root for yet another Theon redemption arc? What's the point of them at all? They serve no purpose, other than to ferry a few dozen thousand soldiers over the Narrow Sea to add to the Night King's roster.

Perhaps to stop many of Euron's ships from arriving from Essos? Also, thinking ahead to the show's end point, Yara is the only ruler of the Iron Islands that makes sense.

  10. The Hound despises the Lannisters and wants to kill The Mountain, so I doubt he casts his lot in with Cersei

He traveled North of the Wall and knows the stakes so I doubt he sits it out which puts him in with House Targarian/Stark

I'm more interested in who Bronn declares for. Does the Sellsword follow the Lannisters gold to Cersei or does Honor and friendship lead him to Jamie and Tyrion

My consideration was if he stayed behind to get his moment with his brother. He has always been practical, and not prone to take on a suicide mission, but the show seems to be increasingly ham handedly queuing up the resolution points we have been anticipating.

As an aside, this feels like regression from a well-thought-out web of circumstance and motivation (Martin), to typical high-budget pop culture entertainment.

I loved the moment between Brienne and the Hound, talking about Arya. Did I imagine him grinning like a proud pappa?

Re Bronn: Cersei's deception doesn't work if the Lannister forces don't act like they are joining the Great War. Bronn will be intermixed with the combined armies when (if) Cersei brings the Golden Company to attack their rear. I have no doubt how Bronn would react, but I think there is also no way any of that happens before Jaimie gets to him... unless of course he is eaten by a large pack of wolves mid-continent.

Again bitching about expedience, why on earth would Cersei tell Jaimie her plan and let him ride away? Is Jaimie, and her love of family her fatal weakness?

I strongly suspect the books will be completely different at this point and moving forward.

And restating a guess I made up-thread: I think Daario shows up next season with the Essos sell-swords.

  11. Doc Brown, I agree, much better than last week.

I think Tyrion argued if Cersei cooperated, her child would be allowed to live. It is the only believable way she would support them. We often have not heard the end of Tyrion's conversations, just seen the results. In this case, we are left to fill in the blanks between Tyrion's look saying Cersei being pregnant changes everything, and him not being surprised she is having the Lannister forces join them.

    ...

I don't see Tyrion and Cersei ever working together as they've hated each other guts since childhood. I think Tyrion had his mind more on an heir to Dany explaining why he looked conflicted knowing Jon and her were having sex. Either that or he knows his sister well enough that she won't send her troops North like she agreed on and feels guilty in making Jon and Dany believe that.

Doc, why would he be conflicted? I doubt he told Cersei her child might be heir because Dany is infertile. (If so, count that as her betrayal for love.) And yet I agree. I am not sure what his look meant outside their cabin door.

I agree Harrington and Clark seem to lack some of the range of the other actors, though their chemistry is passable on the show. For John, bring uncomplicated is a part of his appeal.

Where do you think the Hound ended up? He hasn't pledged himself to anyone that we have seen, and we didn't see the group return to the Targaryen ship.

Tormund is still alive. I rewatched, and it's clear the ice dragon melted the wall from where he started, to the left, toward the sea. He and Dondarrion made it to the first bit of wall that remained, and had a perfect view of the dead passing through the void.

  12.

    True.

I have no idea how much of her own stunts she did for that scene, but I did read that she got so good spinning the dagger that she was the one suggesting that cool shot when she shows the dagger to Brienne. I'm assuming from that, she did a fair bit of those moves. And she did them left handed (which Arya is in the book but Williams is a righty in real life).

Wow! I was impressed before I read that.

"I'm right-handed, and when Mom was reading the first book, she told me about Arya being left-handed," she says. "From then on, I was like, 'Alright, I'm going to try to do everything left-handed.' When I was practicing out in the garden and things I would do left-handed just to feel that rhythm. Unfortunately, when it came to filming, sometimes I have to do things right-handed because of the camera angle and things like that. So some people are a bit annoyed that Arya hasn't done everything left-handed. I wanted to. I really did. But sometimes it was just too tricky and we couldn't do it."

  13. The Arya / Brienne training session scene was my favorite of the series so far. It was very well choreographed and executed, and did a great job carrying everyone's emotions through the scene as the technical aspects played out. (It sure looked like Maisie Williams was performing all of the moves and having a great time!)

Yes, but the gold was the most essential to repay the iron band and hire more sellswords. Specifically, the Golden Company (at least 10,000 strong) Cersei referred to last episode and play a role in the books. I'm not sure about their food source, but all that gold should help them store some food. Cersei and Euron are still a force to be reckoned with.

    Crazy thought part one

So, do we know any sell swords in Essos? Oh wait. . . what if Daario Naharis can't resist, and comes to Westeros with the others mercenaries as a long shot to win Daenerys back?

    Crazy thought part two

Assuming the above, Daario would of course try to kill Cersie if he got the chance. I could image "Second Son" being translated in prophecy to "Valonquar" (little brother in Valyrian).

I assume no one a has bet on Daario being the one to kill Cersei.
