Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere ... didn't see it on the front page, or in recent threads here. Nice article at fanhouse.com about Ralph Wilson and his role in past and present NFL labor negotiations.
-
He's terrible.
... or as Charles Barkley would say, "He's turrrble"
-
Torrell Troup listed as inactive. Have I missed something? Has he been injured, or is he just not good enough to see the field?

one more quote from PK's article:
b. Sad to see the best special-teamer of all time, Steve Tasker, eliminated in the semifinal cut. -
Hope he had fun. Probably get a slap on the wrist. SWI seems dumb and dangerous, but he wasn't in the water when the cops talked with him - so it's not like his celebrating put anyone else at risk. I guess you could say the woman was at risk when she ran the red light, but I'm not sure you could blame McAfee for that.
Seems like a non-story. I hope the NFL and the Colts don't get all pious and feel the need to hammer the guy. If so, they should probably stop beer commercials during their games - Don't want to damage the image of the game!!
I live here in Indianapolis, and I think there is a good chance that the Colts may just do something about it. They are sort of like the Bills in that they like to talk about what good "character" all their players have. And they, and the media, especially like to contrast that with the city's other pro sports team, the NBA Indiana Pacers, who continually embarrass themselves by off-the-court behavior (not to mention on-the-court incompetence). They've cut several players in the past for off-field incidents (Dominic Rhodes for a DUI right after he played really well in their Super Bowl victory, and a starting defensive lineman whose name escapes me for pot possession).
Anyway, Polian was interviewed on the radio this afternoon, and sounded pretty pissed off that he even had to deal with questions about something like this (especially during their bye week). At the very least they are likely to fine Macafee substantially ... and might even suspend him for "conduct detrimental". They'll probably wait to see what, if anything, Goodell does first.

Nothing stopping us from upgrading the O-line via FA in my opinion if necessary especially considering how hit and miss Linemen are when making the transition from college to the NFL.
As far as the O-lines concerned, we could sure use more experience/proven talent on this football team.
What FA OL players are likely to be available next year?

I just have one question .... what??????
-
Seriously, how does ANYONE defend this organization? I mean, ANYONE? I know there are some real homers on this Board, but even you two (you know who you are) have to be coming around by now, no?
could be worse .... they could have extended Cornell Green
-
Nice post, Jay. Your 1986 comparison ain't too shabby, although we might really be in 1985. Next year we get our Kelly.
.... as long as that doesn't mean that he holds out/refuses to join the team for 3 years .....

Video...7:00pm kickoff
Actually, the game has been moved up to 6:30pm .... something about to avoid a traffic jam due to a rap concert that's taking place just "down the street" from Ford Field tonight.
-
.. but just keep in mind that as the 3rd string back, he's been playing against the opposing defenses #3's, and that no doubt has helped to "inflate" his statistics somewhat, especially his YPC average. Still, he looks quick and powerful, and I hope the Bills do find a spot for him on the active roster. I agree that he probably wouldn't last too long on the PS. With both Jackson and Lynch nursing injuries, I'm guessing he'll make the roster. I don't expect he'll be active for many games once Lynch and Jackson are back, though, unless he can really play on ST as well.
As fans, we get excited thinking the team may have found the next Terrell Davis, or Emmitt Smith ... but he could just as easily be this year's Xavier Omon.
-
Cool idea ... now you just have to talk the "powers that be" into letting your groomsmen where their jerseys at the ceremony instead of renting tuxes .....
Congratulations, and Good Luck!
-
wow, this is something that amounts to very little as Troy Smith now joins a long line of players the Bills have never signed in being their starter over the past 10 months.
Vick
someone mentioned Whitehurst
Tebow
Clausen
now Smith.
... Testeverde next?
jw
... you forgot
Garcia
Campbell
Russell
McNabb

For one of the linebackers, I'm trying to remember the name of the guy that Gregg Williams brought with him from the Titans who was, to put it kindly, "past his prime", and got faked out of his jock by Chad Pennington who made it past him into the end zone. What was his name?
Was it Eddie Robinson?

I know the Everett connection here, but I'm not sure where you guys are going with this. Hixon is out for the season. What's the Denver connect?
I think the Giants could use a potential weapon (Parrish) - their offense has been erratic if not anemic. If Hardy, and Easley both continue to have good camps -- not that either is a slot -- aren't we going to continue to find it difficult to get the ball to Parrish?
Do the G-Men have any extra LT's just sitting around not doing anything? ;-)
I'm still hoping the Bills will call up their buddy AJ Smith in San Diego and see if they can get a deal done to bring McNeill to Buffalo ....
-
I still don't understand the idea that Lynch had to be traded because of drafting Spiller. Did the Vikings trade Chester Taylor immediately after drafting Percy Harvin? It's not necessary. A good coach will find a way to use all of these weapons. I contend the plan for Spiller is a lot of routes run out of the backfield and slot to cause mismatches, like Harvin runs. This means we still need 2 backs for "regular" RB duty.
... or did the Germans bomb Pearl Harbor?

I think it would be cool if the Bills had a jersey thats primairly red. Like how Jags have one thats all black with a little bit of teal and white.
The Bills could have an all red jersey with some blue and white.
It might look ugly but then again it might not. It would be cool to see
I think those might look too much like the Patsies* throw-back unis .... Linky Thingy

How big is he?
6'7", 325 lbs
Are you saying size matters?

Bills get Bulaga's teammate for RT. Experienced (3 year starter, I believe).
But most accounts a decent player. Probably dropped this far because of "character issues" ... was suspended for the opening game in 2009 due to a DUI arrest that happened over the prior offseason (he was operating a moped while drinking ...).
-
Huh? She was at what, 3 different bars that he was at? Wouldn't you assume she was at least 21 if she was in 3 different bars? I probably would. What's he supposed to do, ID every girl he was sex with in a bar bathroom?
Yeah, I can see where that could probably cut into his drinkin' time ....

please tell me where , when he was convicted of rape?.. when. it is all allegations!.. see kobe bryant!
In Goodell's letter to BR, he states "contributing to the delinquincy of a minor" was more than enough reason to come down so harshly on him:
"As the District Attorney concluded, the extensive investigatory record shows that you contributed to the irresponsible consumption of alcohol by purchasing (or facilitating the purchase of) alcoholic beverages for underage college students, at least some of whom were likely already intoxicated. There is no question that the excessive consumption of alcohol that evening put the students and yourself at risk. The Personal Conduct Policy also states that discipline is appropriate for conduct that 'undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.' By any measure, your conduct satisfies that standard."... and then goes on to say
"I recognize that the allegations in Georgia were disputed and that they did not result in criminal charges being filed against you. My decision today is not based on a finding that you violated Georgia law, or on a conclusion that differs from that of the local prosecutor. That said, you are held to a higher standard as an NFL player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans."IMO, he definitely got off EASY! I hope the Bills stay far away from this jerk.
At BEST, he is an idiot.
At worst, he is a predator.

You're not selling tires, you're running a football team. Draft Value is an artificial concept that has no bearing on performance. You either pick players who make you a winner or not. Where they were drafted stops meaning anything one day after the draft.
PTR
I agree with your point. I think "reaching" really refers to taking a player higher in the draft than he ought to go just because you have a real "need" at a particular position, and he's the best one left, so you let that skew your judgement as to how good he really is. And even that really only matters at the top of the draft because of the ridiculous amount of money you tie up for years in terms of salary cap. If/when the new CBA addresses that issue (rookie salary cap), I doubt we hear so much about "reaches" anymore, because the consequences won't be as long-lasting.

So, what are the excuses for Lee going to be? No QB, No line, No Coach, No Shoes, No Glasses....
... no shoes, no shirt, no service

Could be a post-draft signing, depending on how the linebackers fall.
He was also on special teams kickoff/punt coverage squads in SD ... maybe DeHaven wants some more bodies?

I'm SURE he meant because everyone knows the Bills would have the #1 seed throughout the playoffs all wrapped up by then ....
