Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Clements was a standout player. He did not deserve the contract he got but he was absolutely a standout player.
It's a shame he didn't "standout" during the 2005 season (or the 1st half of this past season, but I digress). Otherwise they could have traded him for a 1st round pick last year.

Who here remembers Olof Parli....
Is he related to Olof Pilar?

Adam Schein and Jim Miller just had a great talk about what the Spikes deal does for Buffalo. They both love Buffalo's DT rotation now and believe that McCargo and Williams are going to be great. Then they mentioned the draft and said that Buffalo should go for either Peterson or Willis, depending on who's available. Finished by saying Willis would be to Buffalo what Urlacher is to Chicago, and that a LB group of Ellison-Willis-Crowell could make the defense one of the best in the league.
Good to see some people are noticing what the Bills are thinking. I'm really starting to like Jim Miller as an analyst. He is by far my favorite to listen to.
I'd favor going Willis, then a CB (2nd round pick or after a trade-up into the 1st depending on if there's a run, sorry Bill in NYC ) and then a RB. Then a TE.

Plus, Kirwin's actually right (amazingly so), that the offense will have to pull a lot more weight this season. That DOES mean more pressure on JP.
That depends on whether the Bills can replace Clements and a less-than-100% Spikes. I'm saying right here and right now that the O-line and D-line will be better and that they'll draft a RB who, in-tandem with A-Train and/or Fred Jackson, won't be any worse than Willis and A-Train.
Kirwin was flat out wrong regarding Holcomb starting last year. But what I also heard today that they were amazed at how many of the veteran players took them aside and tell them off the record how badly they wanted Holcomb to start instead of JP.I'm sure Kirwan will be just as surprised at how few of those veterans he sees THIS year in Buffalo.

I read that he started the company and then sold it, and they kept him on as VP.

You know...I've been waiting to hear that Spikes passed their physical.
I'm sure he'll pass their physical. Hell, I could pass their physical, I'd just be less than ideal on their defense.
-
HOLCOMB? wow...that's like trading for a case of champagne and a twinkie...and going ga-ga over the twinkie.
...and finding out the champagne has turned to vinegar. Sorry but unless someone has a crystal ball that shows me Spikes regaining his pre-injury form, I'll have to conclude that he won't, based on the overwhelming evidence with players who were YOUNGER when it happened to them.

FWIW, Cole had the Dolphins as a SB contender last year after making the moves they did. IOW, the so-called "experts" are no better than any of us when making predictions.

Someone should do an article that points out the "biggest losers" when it comes to sports writers. Clearly if you're working for Yahoo Sports you've got an instant advantage.
It's ironic that he said theBills overpaid for their three linemen but fails to mention the outrageous deal that the Pats gave to We Welker.
Adalius Thomas is overpaid as well. Hell most FA's this off-season were overpaid. That's just the nature of the beast post-new CBA.

First of all, the Bills could have easily retained all of those players, at the expense of signing no one else. That would have been incredibly dumb. McGahee was a goner and a waste of space. Fletcher didn't fit the scheme. Spikes couldn't be counted-on to return to his pre-injury form. and Holcomb would have been 3rd string next year.
As for Clements, it would have been nice to keep him. But for $80M, I shudder at the thought of him having a year like 2005, or the first half of 2006. Again the Bills could have easily outbid other teams for him, but decided to let him go.

...And with 2 first rounders, we'll be spending a little more than 10m
Huh?

For you viewing pleasure:
I like Tanya's Memmes.

I'll take trading a 30-year old LB who is coming-off an Achilles injury and a backup QB for a starting DT anyday! The draft pick in 2008, especially if it's a 3rd rounder, is icing on the cake!
-
I'll take Walker and a 4th.

Now woudnt we be looking at around 6.5-7 million in cap relief for that move?
Enough "cash to cap" room to sign a few minor contributors(safety depth, dt depth, rb depth). I hope we do something with it. I feel that this trade will trigger a minor flurry of activity for the bills.
With the owners agreeing on a new additional revenue sharing plan, I think the "cash to cap" might become defunct.
-
I don't. Assuming that the rookie RB learns the playbook.
-
And as we all know, the patriots follow the mock pretty much to the tee.
I could see a RB in the late rounds but as far as I know, Maroney didnt die on the operating table and should be ready to go when the season starts.
Geez, you've got a bigger hard-on for Pats posts than HD.

Good numbers...but against lesser competition. How he fares in the pros is wholly unknown. Can't really say much more.

What is this, some sort of NFL food stamps program?
Nope. Just big markets sharing some of the money they've made off of new stadiums, funded partially by league/G3 money.
-
I've been hearing Brian Leonard with their 2nd 1st rounder.
-
Details could not be determined? What does that mean?
They'll just use a dartboard.

I could definitely see this happening. Save the 1st rounder for a blue/red chipper and trade a 2nd for a RB who would easily be better than any 2nd round RB in the draft, and who could be a stud in his own right. But there are no guarantees.
