1. This is hilarious.  The Skins seem to be cursed by bad decisions and flat out bad luck.  I think the only way they have a chance to win under Snyder is if the CBA doesn't get passed and there is no salary cap.  Then he can spend like a drunken sailor ala Steinbrenner.  Then, maybe then, they can win.

Do you think Greg was a BAD DECISION???

  2. If it's true, and if you're inclined to want to go, you better be ready to jump on the tickets right away! They had a concert at University of Virginia and the tickets sold out in less than ten minutes!

The reason they sell out so fast is that Ticketmaster etc. buy up huge blocks, mark them up a lot, and freeze out the individuals.

  3. It's very rural! If you're going to school there, I don't think there would be a lot of distractions. The biggest city near there is Roanoke. It's in the mountains of Virginia, so it does get pretty cold in the winter, but It's nice in it's own way. I think they still do some coal mining out that way. I would guess a 10-11 hour drive from BUF. I don't know about living costs, but considering its location, I would guess not bad!

  4. If you're in the Hudson Valley you'll save a ton on taxes by moving south. The down side is McLean is where Ethel Kennedy etc. etc. live(d) soooo while 60K is very respectable, it's not going to get you into McLean absent a BIG down payment.

Having said that, get used to the Commute from somewhere. RT 7 W of McLean is a Beeatch. I-66 towards Manassas is not too much better. The big question is what hours will you be working? If you can somehow tele-communte or work "off" hours Loudon or Clarke Counties are doable. There are some that go out as far as Winchester VA. & Gettysburg PA. I know that sounds obsurd, but that's where they can find a place that fits their needs and is affordable.

The sales tax in VA is 4.5%, the state income tax is not too bad, and you're not supporting the Hildabeast in NY. state.

Good luck! It's a big decision, but the farther S of NY/CONN, you go, the more you will have left in your pocket. N VA has 2 Wegman's and with Direct TV, it's better than "home."

  5. I wonder what these will look like....I will definetly try to get a Willis McGahee jerz old school if they're available

The question is: "Throwback" to what era???? The 70's w/O.J. when we went 0 for the 1970's agains Miami???

I think they're a jinx! What team ever wore them and performed well? Remember the Steelers & Lions??? They were the worst!

If collectors like them that's fine, but if the BILLS were them and lose how nostalgic will that be? Trying to live in the past is always dangerous. :)

  6. It's funny: Coors used to be considered this great exotic brew that you were lucky to get your hands on before they went national. C'mon, didn't anyone see Smokey and the Bandit?

    332096

There parts of S Virginia & N Carolina where Smokey & The Bandit is still playing!

  7. I had to switch insurance providers due to GEICO's policy of no car modification.  I have a perfect driving record, and have gone 11 years without being in an accident.  Yet GEICO has labeled me a "street racer" due to my performance upgrades on my car.  I spend my off-time working in my garage tuning my import.  It's my hobby and everything is 100% NYS legal.  Why is GEICO trying to keep the blue smurf down...  :(

"were on our way to 100% customer satisfaction....." ::fyou::

    331127

20+ years ago I had GEICO and decided to buy a new 280ZX. I called asking how much, got a writtern quote, and 1 month after I got the car they dropped me because they "don't insure sports cars." That was despite their written quote!

To each his own, but I wonder how they stay in business!

  8. Oh boy, at 5-27, they must really hate to lose Ronnie. What will West Texas A&M do now???

Ronnie was probably a spammer, too, marketing his whatever by bulk email.

I wonder if Gregg-o bought any of what Ronnie was selling...

    310163

Having had to live in the butt hole of the universe...a.k.a. Texas, for 4 years, I believe that the 5-27 record was what did him in, and the marketing thing was just the phony reason they went with!

If he was 27-5 he could have sold crack outside of W's back door and everything would have been A-OK!

  9. I used to have a high regard for that movie.  For the first time, I realized that it was written, produced, and directed by Michael Moore.

I damn near vomited when there was actually a scene (after John Candy and co. "invade" Ontario) where Michael Moore was wearing a Bills hat.

     :)

    307487

Michael Moore or not, I love the scene where Dan Akroyd stops the garbage truck and makes them translate all the graffiti into French.....so as not to offend "Le Quebecois"................Priceless!!!

  10. Its just speculation...the guy who posted it is a HUGE Bills homer (I mean, we all are to an extent, but damn that guy acts like everybody decent in the NFL should sign Bills contracts out of principle).

I dont see this trade ever happening...even in a weak draft, a #9 overall pick for a player who has one year remaining on his contract?  Just doesnt make any sense at all.

    307040

If Greg is involved the "Just dosen't make any sense at all" may make some sense after all!

  11. Someone here coined the term "Flutopians" for those that doggedly insist that Dougie was the best thing ever.

Will there be a persistent cadre of "Bledites" following in those footsteps, reminding one and all from time to time of the folly of his dismissal? :D

    302858

Bledites or So-So's??? Where's Billy Joe Hobert when we need him???? :D

  12. Okay, I'm a graduating school counselor and am in the process of choosing a place to live and work.  So far on my list with mutual interest from both ends are as follows: City of Fredericksburg, Manassass Park City, Spotsylvania, Stafford maybe alexandria, maybe falls church.  Spots in MD i'm interested in are Charles County, and Baltimore County.  Any advice would be appreciated in regards to any aspect of any area.  I would say Baltimore County, Charles county, manassas and stafford all pay similar.  Fredericksburg, and spotsylvania are a notch below.

Wanted to add, I'm married to a nurse who will have a nursing income.

    303179

Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania are still marginally affordable. N. VA is very expensive! I would recommend you look at; www.realtor.com. You can get an amazing amount of information, by referencing the locations you have mentioned. Wherever you end up, do your best to be close to your workplace. It seems like 90% of the people down here are either military or government employees, meaning unbelievable traffic Monday-Friday 0600-1900. Also, everybody is off on the weekends, soooo, the traffic is an issue for leisure activities.

On the bright side, Wegman's is in N VA. and Maryland. The VA sales tax is 4.5%, and the weather is more moderate than BUF, so it may be do-able. Good luck!

  13. From todays column...

#1.  I think John Paul II was a darn fine Pope, and we'll miss him. (Yes folks...Peter King gets paid to write these things...and he does a darn fine job to boot).  B-)

#2.  This just in ... Randy Johnson's pretty good. (I am now taking numbers to kick this guys ass).

#3.  I think, 19 days before the draft, the biggest flux team is Miami. No question. The Dolphins want to move out of the No. 2 pick and will have trouble finding a partner to swap with. (Oooh...a football thought?!?  WTF?!?).

#4.  I think Ty Law will end up with the Jets. (Hmmm...that could be annoying).
