1. Well since we seem to have a lot of OTs, let's have at least a Bills related post.  I know we have done this in the past, but when was your first Bills game.

Mine was in the brand new Stadium in 1974 against the fish.  Of course everyone knows the outcome as it was the Bills playing the fish in the 70's.

Pre-season, at the Rockpile, late 1960-s, against Detroit, and WE WON!

  2. Holly Cow!  Hasn't there been enough TSW discussion of Shelton over the past two months?

Here's his profile from Scouts, Inc.

    Comment:

Shelton is a good athlete for his size, he has tremendous upper body strength, he shows a good initial punch, he extends his arms, and when he is locked onto a defender, he can be very effective.

At left tackle, he does not have what you are looking for athletically but he can be effective if he can get his hands on the defender, lock on with his long arms, and simply ride the speed rusher past the pocket.

However, if you put him on an island and ask him to be an athlete and to handle double moves or great first-step quickness, he is going to be in big trouble as he is simply not very good in space. Because of his size, Shelton can dominate at the point of attack.

Will push the pile in the running game, comes off the ball hard and can simply overpower DL to get the job done. He needs to continue to improve his footwork, but he has a good work ethic and will certainly give you good effort.

Shelton has been somewhat of a disappointment thus far but he is still young enough to salvage a nice career if he's eventually moved inside to guard.

You could say many of the same things about his Dad, when he was in the NBA.

    RUN>>>>RUN AWAY!!!!! :)

  3. per ESPN:

"... Haslett, 49, has two years remaining on a five-year contract. He signed a five-year extension in August 2002.

His record of 42-38 (.525) is the second best in team history, behind Jim Mora's 93-78 (.543). Yet the Saints have failed to make the playoffs the past four seasons, one of seven teams in that category along with the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins.... "

2nd best in THAT teams history is not saying much! 0:)

  4. just had arthroscopic knee surgery (second time in 14 years)

they gave me percocet and it ain't doing anything for me, but killing my gut. i'm no strangerto vicodin, but isn't percocet supposed to be stronger?

    285429

Assuming both surgeries were on the same knee, it sounds like you may have a total knee replacement in your future. I had 4 scopes over 20 years and you'll get to a point where there's nothing left in the joint but bone on bone! It's not the most fun I've ever had, but the pain is totally gone! Good luck with it!

  5. After reading all the gloom & doom, I'm convinced!  JP is going to be worse than RJ, he'll get sacked every down because we don't have an offensive line.  Then he'll get hurt, Holcomb will come in & get hurt and we won't win a game...all because Detroit signed Rick Demulling & Jonas left for SF.  McGahee will get hurt & never play again -all because of the OL... and Henry will have been traded & will rush for 2500 yards.

People, please relax until we know the roster entering training camp.  If you see the same situation as when we had Jerry Crafts as our opening day RT, then you can worry. But to get all wound up before we even have an 80 man camp roster is so far over the top, you have to look down to look up.

It worked for the BRAVES!.................NOT!

    276303

You're right! We've had 3-4 "storms" all 1" or less, I'm really ready to go back to the effect of Lake Effect!

    I also miss:

    The Gov. LePetomane Memorial Thruway

Being represented in the Senate by the Hildabeast

Sales tax in the 8-9% range

Trying to sell a house in "No Takers Acres" aka WNY

Makes one wonder why sooo many people have left the area?

  7. Could the maintanance be performed by a volunteer group of citizens instead of County workers?

If a group of citizens hell-bent on saving the team were to perform the maintenance with supplies donated by local businesses, could the services be sufficient to fullfill the terms of the agreement.

County / Union employees are expensive, what would happen if a volunteer force were created and allowed to do the general maintenance. Would that be sufficient to hold up the county's liability?

    273661

That's not the point! If the county vilolates the terms of the lease, it opens the door for the franchise to leave. This is the same kind of chicken sh*t local government mis-management that has caused so many businesses and individuals to leave WNY. ;)

  8. I do know know about everyone else but these gas prices are are the highest I have ever seen in the past 5 years.

When I left for work this morning the price of regular unleaded in the Fingerlakes area was 2.09/gal on my way to work at the nearby station.  When I got home the price was up to 2.17/gal at 5pm and when I went to the mall and returned home at night the price was up to 2.21/gal.

What the hell is going on here?  Prices can jump 12 cents in less than 24 hrs but if the price of oil goes down we do not see a drop at the pump for 4 months?  What a crock of premium grade A 100% bull cookies.

All I can say is if they go any higher I will have to rethink my travel plans and car pool more and go out less to wherever...... :D

    272062

Absolutely right! The gas that was $2.21 on the way home was the same stuff that was in the ground, selling for $2.09, when you went to work.

The US needs to get moving with drilling more in Alaska, the Gulf, and offshore of California. It can be done without significant envorinment issues. We don't need to import oil!
