  1. Yeah...as though Bush never signed a spending bill that crossed his desk. If it were about spending, I'd have more respect for the veto. It's not. It's about preserving the "human" dignity of a 200-cell in-vitro blastosphere that's now going to be incinerated instead. That makes it stupid.
  2. But at least I'd be "metro-funky"...
  3. Nope. My sister's wedding is that weekend. At least...I think it's that weekend. I'm not sure. Anyone know when my sister's getting married?
  4. Don't even joke. She bruises so easily, she wakes up in the morning black-and-blue from where the damn cats have walked over her in the middle of the night. (She actually can't take the steroids she was prescribed for her back; it'll make her a functional hemophiliac). I have a healthy fear of taking her to the ER someday, having them see the bruises on her legs, and calling the cops on me no questions asked. In fact, the only reason it didn't happen LAST time I took her to the ER was because she told them it wasn't me.
  5. "Cohen blames the creation of Israel for a century of warfare in the Middle East, including the present conflict." Wow. That's a neat trick, considering Israel hasn't even been around for 60 years yet. Is "Richard Cohen" a pseudonym for VABills?
  6. Actually, the 2003 act states: The amended portion of the 1956 act says: Italics mine, to illustrate the fact that 1) Pelosi voted for a bill of which a minor part was changing FIVE WORDS in the State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956 that established the requirements of reimbursement, and 2) FoxSnooze is garbage. It took me twenty minutes to figure out precisely what Pelosi did and did not vote for, 15 of which was spent trying to navigate the GPO's site to find the text of the 1956 act. Fox either accidentally skimped on their research because they're !@#$ing idiots, or purposely did because they're conservatives. Or quite possibly both.
  7. I'm more inclined to believe an idiot like TPS than I am FoxSnooze, frankly... ...no offense, TPS...
  8. Are these the same people that, when they have to take a dump, walk 400 paces outside their town and use a wooden paddle to dig a pit...? Because they should be following ALL the rules... I love religious logic puzzles. Give me another!
  9. And if the research pans out, the loss of our lead in bio and medical science will cost billions more...
  10. "I have a plan" sure as sh-- isn't. The real kicker for me with Kerry, though, was his stance on gay marriage. You can find my analysis of it here....it was not only a stunning load of bull sh--, it was a stunning load of bull sh-- that spoke directly to his understanding of the word "constitutional"...which I think is important in a president. (And I know the response to this from someone will be "Well...Bush violates the constitution every day!" Yes, he does...he makes conscious decisions to violate constitutional protections on a regular basis. And I find that "Well, we've had three lawyers look at it, and have decided to suspend this 5th Amendment protection in this case because of X, Y, and Z." FAR more palatable than some yahoo who can't even reason that out because he doesn't even know if federal law supercedes states' laws...)
  11. Uhhhh...it's called "separation of church and state", people? It works both ways. The government can't force a religion down your throat, so perhaps, just maybe, you shouldn't be looking to political leaders for your spiritual guidance? People are !@#$ing stupid.
  12. That's largely why I voted Democrat for the legislative ballots. President, though...that's where I want foreign policy determined. And as much as I disagree with elements of Bush's foreign policy...Kerry's was a rehash of Clinton's - worse, when it wasn't simply non-existent.
  13. No problem. It would have had to make sense for me to be offended by it. Wife works in real estate - does closings, actually, so she works with lenders closely on a daily basis. Most lenders are idiots. Some are dishonest. But most mortgage officers are simply people who couldn't cut it selling used cars...
  14. It's called "being too smart for your own good". The most important quality for a president is probably decisiveness...smart people frequently don't possess it, because they're too busy thinking about sh-- to be decisive. Oft-times, they're too busy thinking about sh-- to see what's right in front of their faces. Doesn't make him an "itios". It makes him a sh------- president.
  15. You got off easy. You should hear some of the horror stories my wife brings home from work.
  16. I thought so, but I wasn't sure. You've got to realize that my wife not feeling well is a very common occurrence (had to take her to the ER on July 4th for a herniated disk...and badly !@#$ed up my knee carrying her to the car), so all the incidents tend to blend together after a while...
  17. Carter is and was a certifiable genius. Just not in the White House. Hell, if genius were all it took, I'd be in the White House. And I guarantee you, I'm manifestly unsuited for the Oval Office...
  18. On another note... I have that collection. On that point, Rove's reasonably accurate for once.
  19. And one minute ago, Bush exercised his veto power for the first time...not on a spending bill to cut the deficit, not on a civil rights issue, but on stem cell research. And still, when I think back to 2004...I STILL think this idiot was a better choice than Kerry...
  20. I'm curious as to why the wonderful red-headed nymphomaniac Mrs. Crap Throwing Monkey isn't in there...did she just do a better job of hiding than I did?
  21. Yes, he really said that. Said the Fit was targeted to the "metro-funky" crowd like himself...hence it wasn't a gay car. Like "metro-funky" isn't a gay term...
  22. I guy I work with bought one in Texas; got a very good deal on a two year old Mercedes with front grill damage (literally, all it was...car was clean otherwise). Of course, he was lucky enough to have a friend in Texas who could check the car out for him before bidding...and smart enough to not pay until he took delivery of the car. So if you're smart about it, it is possible to get a good deal on a car on Ebay and not get ripped off. If you're smart about it. If not, you're likely to get screwed...
  23. No, you can be. Brains and electability are mutually exculsuve, otherwise Carter would be the most popular president in history...
  24. And frankly, he does a pretty good job of that. He surrounds himself with smart people and gives them direction, like a decent leader should. I can't recall any serious and well-founded complaints about his leadership. The direction he's leading us in, yes...but not his ability to lead us in that direction.
  25. Ed also thinks he's "metro-funky" and bought a styling car. Ed's clearly on the roof and not coming down. BTW...Mandy Moore thinks that Mandy Moore kid is kind of cute...
