  1. I just hope Nielsen never starts doing this with books...you'll skew the whole thing with those crappy Fabio books you like!!
  2. I know, I feel bad leaving you guys hangin'....but you gotta be tactful when it comes to Cuban women and pics...make the wrong move an *THWACK!!* right upside the head! Now, if you want pics of the PLASMA, I can accommodate that for sure haha. It's amazing the quality of display you can get for under a grand these days...
  3. I was just completely caught off guard a few minutes ago... Tonight I bought my first plasma - a Panasonic ST60 50" - so I was already really excited. I get the display set up, go through the tutorial, and start playing around with the settings and features. I decided to fire up Netflix since there are some movies I've seen recently that would give me a nice frame of reference from my current display to the new plasma. I clicked on a movie called "Into the White", which is a very good Norwegian film based on a true story of British and German pilots whose planes crash in the same area and have to work together to survive. Anyway it's pretty intuitive, so didn't take me long to get it going...I clicked on play and within the first five seconds my jaw literally dropped. My roomate thought there was something wrong with me, cause she had never seen that expression on my face. It honestly looked as though I was watching the events of the film go down live...as if I were right there on set watching the movie be filmed. It was completely unexpected that things would be looking anywhere near this good, especially for an indy film that I'm just streaming through a service I use all the time. Well, as it turns out, Netflix has JUST opened up their top quality streams, called "Super HD", to all members. I had never even heard of this until I had this experience tonight. Apparently it's a less compressed 1080p stream than what you may get on other services, and it's basically equivalent to bluray. So it was the combination of the new plasma AND Netflix streaming, so it's even better news than I expected. Netflix is also adding more 3D titles for members....kudos to them for both of these advances. I was very vocal to the company directly when they started delaying new releases...they essentially drove me to Vudu, Amazon streaming, and iTunes movies and it made no business sense to me at all. Well they've gradually improved their streaming service, first by adding thousands more titles, many of which are very appealing, and now taking it to a whole new level with this news. Well done, Netflix! And holy CRAP, if you guys aren't running plasmas, I highly recommend them! http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57604873-93/netflix-opens-the-gates-to-super-hd-video-for-all/
  4. Absolutely...it's like seeing the characters from an entirely different vantage point, which I think is one big reason why it feels so fresh watching these reruns today....Gilligan is the man! I could totally see doing that with Sopranos...good call. I'm about to get into the Wire since so many of you guys have recommended it...saw the pilot the other night and loved it. Can't wait!
  5. No doubt...this series deserves a complete 2nd run through!
  6. So surreal watching some of these scenes over again....just watched the one where Walt is at the oncologist's office awaiting the news of his latest scans. He's got Skylar next to him, preggo to the max....Hank off to his left and behind him...Jr immediately behind him, and then Marie behind and to the right. The smiles and love that they show Walt when the doc gives them the good news...just contrasting that with where we are today...just WOW.
  7. Very cool...that's consistent with what just about every other Panny plasma owner I know has said. Samsung came out with a plasma that is apparently is their best tv ever, but the Panny I can get for half the price... I can't wait to fire up GTA tonight...
  8. I could watch this all day...better not though lol Wow, the first meeting between Walt and Saul going down as we speak...awesome!!
  9. We did back in the 80s. There was a little booklet that my parents filled out...I dont remember if they sent it back in or reported results over the phone, cause I was pretty young at the time. But I know they were doing that for a little while. Since then I haven't known anyone who has been involved.
  10. Totally agree. I will quite literally mourn this show...not even kidding. It's like dating a girl you just know is the most amazing girl on the planet, and when you break up the thought of having to settle for less than perfect women just makes you ill. It's funny cause I NEVER watch reruns of tv shows...I will watch reruns of classics that I loved, like WKRP or the Honeymooners, but if I see a current show is a repeat it doesn't get the time of day. I had my brain into what I was doign on the computer tonight when the BB marathon was on. I found myself completely engaged in the show even though I knew what was going to happen...but it was still so captivating that I just had to watch it again. This could potentially be the first show that I go back and start from episode one, season one, and watch the entire series again. Especially if Netflix keeps the streaming rights for a while, it would be very feasible...and it would be a blast.
  11. Props to Fezmid for letting me know, but the 360 just went on sale by $50, plus places like Amazon and Walmart are also including a $50 gift card with purchase. I just ordered mine a few mins ago and will pick it up this morning. One thing I don't understand is why Best Buy sells Sandisk Cruzer flash drives for 2.5x the price of what Amazon and Radio Shack sell them for....wtf is this? I must have checked it like four times last night to make sure I wasn't comparing the wrong items, but sure enough what the shack and amazon sell for about $12 - the 16g Cruzer flash drive - Best Buy sells for $29...da hell??? And it's not just the Cruzer...it's a lot of the flash drives. They even want $40 for the official Xbox flash drive, which is just a rebadged Sandisk....this is messed up. I'm going to get them to price match when I go over there, or I'll just stop at the Shack on the way home. I think I may also pick up my first ever plasma screen. I've been touting Panny plasmas for years and years, but never had the chance to own one. Today may be a good day. Last time I was playing xbox, I had Winning Eleven...it was a great game. I don't know if they still make it, but if they do I bet it's incredible now. I have only watched Fifa online, but that looks very authentic, as well. Last version I saw was 2011, I think.
  12. Someone on Twitter posted some excerpts from an interview with producers/writers of the show. They said that they had been planning the "Death by Dexter" for Deb since the beginning, but they weren't sure how to do it. Honestly, this makes me hate it even more. Who, if anyone, has been a tougher biatch than Deb? She's taken it from damn near everyone and come out the other side. She gets attacked and nearly killed by Rudy...then blondie nearly takes her out...then she gets SHOT by the brain surgeon...so for them to give her such a crap fate is just completely disrespectful to the character. Hell, QUINN knew how tough she was...why didn't the writers? Deb deserved a better death. If you want Dexter to do it, then great....put him in the middle of Deb and blondie again, but this time let the scales tip in blondie's favor where Dex has to reluctantly put Deb down. I dunno, but don't throw Deb into a coma from a gunshot wound that "missed everything important" and let her go out in a state of complete incapacitation and impotence....lame....LAME as hell.
  13. Was watching some of the 2008 episodes while the marathon was running last night...there is a scene where Walt and Jesse are meeting Tuco, but they don't have his product yet. Walt opens his mouth and promises double the amount by the end of the week. Later on, cut to Jesse and Walt alone and Jesse, having no idea how they're going to fulfill this promise, is freaking out...talking about just packing up and running away to Oregon (or maybe it was Utah...cant recall). Walt look at Jesse and goes, "You need to realized that this is the first day of the rest of your life...it's up to you to decide what kind of life you want it to be." Of course, Jesse gives in, they steal the barrell of Methylalamine or whatever the hell, and the rest is history. Later on I caught the part where they were at Tuco's hideout with Tio Salamanca. Thinking Hector was completely oblivious, they start to poison Tuco's taco, only to realize they overlooked....the BELL! I remember crapping myself when I first saw that sequence...Tuco going over to take a hit ever few minutes, while Hector sits there with the death stare waiting for his nephew to get his head out of his arse...and then as Tuco starts to realized that Tio has something to tell him... DAMMIT this show is good!!!!
  14. Dang, ever since Conan was exiled to TBS, I often forget that he even has a show...I used to watch him nearly every night.
  15. I just can't help but think how awesome it could have been if they had put some effort into it. I remember message boards online a year ago talking about new FBI characters and such, and everyone was speculating that something would go down where Dex would either get caught, or someone would rat him out, or whatever. That was so appealing to me. What would happen if you had a character that, for the most part, people were empathetic to, contrasted with a Miami public who would hear about a serial killer among them. The public would obviously not have the benefit of "knowing" Dexter and his code, whereas we the viewer would. That would have made for compelling viewing, IMO. Instead we just have Dexter pretty much moving the pieces all around at will yet again...chasing down some serial killer...trying to keep his relationship with Deb under control...blah, blah, blah...we've seen it already..multiple times. And I agree about Matzukah, Buftex...obviously a popular character for some comic relief, so clearly they just needed some pointless filler story line to keep him on the show. Really a shame...the raw materials were there for something so much better.
  16. I think I saw someone online order the blimp with the phone...not sure, to be honest. They blow up really easily, though, so it's kinda funny to watch.
  17. I always looked forward to his character. Cranston is amazing at that...so many examples of it over the last five years...incredible control over his expressions.
  18. The more we talk about this show the more I'm hating this season.
  19. I definitely admit to being one of the groaners, but that's mainly because I don't believe in drafting the DBs before you fill out the front 7.
  20. Let me make sure I understand. You're saying that CJ is taking it easy THIS year, so that he can ENTER his contract year next year injury free. And this will allow him to receive a huge contract based on what he did LAST year. Do I have that right?
  21. Yeah the blimp moves really slow and you can do a first person view where it would be easy to survey the landscape.
  22. I agree, it was just another amazing sequence of events...Gilligan seems to just have a never ending flow of awesomeness! I could be proved wrong, but I really took that as the death of Walter White in terms of his duality. I thought it was significant that Walt was almost embarrassed that it was ONLY going to be about 100k, when he "wanted it to be so much more". Saul tells Walt that even Mike, an extremely bright individual, couldn't find a way to get his money to his granddaughter successfully. So Walt, in a weakened state, and realizing that he has a barrel of millions that he can't trust anyone else to deliver once he's gone, makes one last ditch effort to carry out his goal of providing for his family - a mere pittance of the total sum stuffed into Ensure boxes to be sent to one of Walt Jr's friends. And just when he is feeling a glimmer of hope and confidence that his plan could work, and after the first few mins of the conversation with Jr potentially looking fruitful, Jr rejects Walt fully, completely, and permanently, literally yearning for his Dad to just die already. I'd be very surprised if anything in the finale next week had to do with providing for family, or keeping them safe, or anything like that. That side of Walt is gone and dead. RIP. I think it will be a full 1hr 15min of the Heisenberg show, and I think he has plans to go out in one hell of an impressive manner When he was offering to pay the guy just to stay with him for a couple hours, I had this vision of Heisenberg sitting off in a dark corner of Walt's brain, shaking his head in disgust while throwing back a shot. Knowing that his fate was tied to that of Walt and that they would both probably expire together in that shack did nothing to curtail his planning and strategizing his next course of action should he get just ONE more chance to take over.
