Oh, this is nice....real nice!!!

BF, why is it everytime you start getting picked on you bring up a dead relative? Is that seriously your only defense? You've brought up two dead relatives about this thread alone. Your cousin and your grandmother. Who gives a !@#$ if she cooked this for you. The only classless act I've seen so far is you using a dead relative to make people feel bad for you. That's worse then anything that's been said in this thread, and you're to stupid to realize it. Am I the only one who see's this? -
What could possibly be wrong with the do one eye, get the second half off deal?

I'm sure this doesn't apply to you, but I've run across skycap's who get pretty pissed when you say you'll take your own bags. I can't see the point in having someone take my bags when I'm a able bodied male. I would assume they get pissed because that's one less possible tip but seriously, they provide a service I don't need or care for. I was raised to do it yourself if you can. I don't even like eating out because I don't like being waited on, it has nothing to do with the tipping. Even with the curbside, I generally go in and get my food, burns some calories before I stuff my face. The only time I had them bring it to me I had my nephew in the car and obviously couldn't leave him. Before I get lambasted again about these people who live off low wages, I know. I worked as a waiter in college. Some people were cheap, some very generous and others I could tell that the meal was a special treat for them, one that is out of their everyday means. I never expected a tip but was always pleased when I received one. If I didn't want to try and live off tips I would have gone and worked at Wegmans or in a student job at the college. I knew what kind of service I could provide though and I knew it would get me more. I agree tipping is good practice, but some people forget it's not required. It's personal opinion whether you feel the person deserves a tip or not. In general , some are more generous then others, but don't judge those who tip 5% less then you may, you don't know their own means. Being judgemental is worse then stiffing a tip.

I was talking about your fundraiser. There's bound to be a few restaurant folks on here somewhere.

They do that about once a year last I checked.

Must have had a false start.

From personal experience back in high school....wrong.

Ofiba earlier in the thread said the to go people get $6 an hour. If that's true, according to your theory there is no need to tip them. Care to rework that arguement?

Too bad they only leave 3 seconds to record after eating up the tape with their painfully slow greeting.

You lost, get over it.

I've never actually ordered curbside, just called ahead and picked it up. But seriously, where is the line drawn. You don't tip a fast food joint, they prepare your meals and bust their hump putting your order together. Isn't curbside in reality just glorified fast food? So they walk 5 feet out the door. Waiting on me and providing good service for 30 minutes deserves a tip in my mind, not bringing food to my car. Like I said, if it's proper to tip them I'll be happy to go inside.

What pisses me off is people who think a tip is mandatory. A tip is for good service, not because you make peanuts (not you personally.) There has only been one time in my life I haven't left a tip at a restaurant and it was only because the server was horrid. Even with bad servie I generally leave a little. Great service and you'll get 20% from me.

I'll walk in to get my food before I tip a curbside server. What's next, tipping the drive thru at McDonalds?

Anyone see the writeup about Toyota

I will certianly yield that many insurance companies do not have the best practices. In fact, the folks in Upstate NY are lucky to have some of the best rated in the nation. I can only speak for this area as I am well versed in it. I have never heard of a HMO in this area that hands out bonuses or kick out providers based on what you outlined. If this practice did happen in NY and the state ever caught wind of it you can bet that a hefty fine would be coming. I've seen very large state fines for less then what you have pointed out. I can also assure you a "HMO secretary" is not making a decision about your healthcare. The people who make utilization management decisions are trained doctors and nurses, usually ones who have worked as a provider in the community for many years. Like I said, I can only speak about upstate and western NY insurance companies. Some of what you say may be true in other areas, but that is not what is driving up the cost in our region. -

That is so far from the truth I don't even know where to begin. I hate to burst your view of the evil insurance company, but every time we raise rates it is to offset the rising cost of healthcare. You say a trip to the doctor can impact a family in a big way, well you're right. But who sets those prices? It's the doctors, not the insurance company. Why do doctors set those rates? Because that is the cost to do business for them. Trained professionals, expensive equipment, expensive pharmacuticals. Everytime they raise their rates, we have to either absorb the cost are pass it along through rate increases or high copays. You want to point a finger, point it at the drug companies. Point it at technological advances. You want the healthcare rates of 20 years ago then expect to get the care of 20 years ago. All of these technologies cost millions to develop. Common sense tells you in the end, the cost will be passed onto the end user. Point a finger at your neighbors too. Everytime a person goes to the doctor for a little cough it costs money. Everytime a guy goes to the emergency room for a twisted ankle instead of their PCP it wastes hundreds. Proper utilization is lost on most people which drives up the cost for everyone. This is why you will soon see American health insurance move towards CDHP (Consumer Driven Healthcare.) You'll have a pool of money for claims allocation for routine services. You'll be able to do what you want with it, but when it runs out tough luck. You'll get the bill for exactly what the services cost and most people will finally realize how expensive healthcare is. Maybe then people will wise up and improper utilization will lessen, helping to off-set the rising costs. So sorry, insurance companies aren't making millions and they aren't getting rich off your healthcare. Most are not for profit organizations. Every penny that comes in goes towards your healthcare whether it be through administrative cost or your claims. -

As long as it is a weekday more power to them. What irks me is the ones that are always there on the weekend. I know damn well most of them have all week to do their shopping but they choose to wait until half the population needs to go to the store. I won't go shopping until after 9 because i know they're all in bed by then. -
This is just sick. Any good officer would have sacrificed himself to save the life of a mis-guided 12 year old. He should be fired.

Anybody who says Clinton or W is very short sighted and extremely spiteful. You can't judge a president untill they are out of office many years. The true results of most policies aren't even seen until 6, 7, 8 years after they take effect. I have no doubt both Clinton and W will rank in the middle somewhere when it is all said and done, but that can't yet be judged. -
