  1. Gailey is going to hold us back with all these gadget and gimmick plays.Im sick of the wildcat already. He thinks it makes him look smart. The only reason they havnt brought in a legitimate QB is so he can run all of these crappy plays and formations. These plays always bring our QB out of the game.Look at all of the playoff teams and see if they rely on gimmicks or if they just use their talent and game plan. You dont want to bring your most valuable player, your QB out of the game unless he isnt that talented. As long as hes running the offense we wont see a real QB in Buffalo. We will continue to run the played out wildcat and a college spread offense. And dont be surprised if Fitz is gone next year and Thigpen and Smith are our QBs.

Pigpen looked horrible last night. Passes over, behind and at the feet of his targets. If Fitz goes down we won't win a game. #2 QB is a glaring weakness on this team.

  2. How many good teams don't make TE an important part of their offense? I say that not having a TE to worry about makes defending an offense a lot easier. The fact that Chan Gailey doesn't think the TE is that important does not make Chan Gailey a smart coach.

Most of the time teams that make TE's an important part of the offense don't have extremely strong WR's. Think about the teams with really good TE's - typically their WR's aren't great.

The bills have stacked talent at WR - therefore, the TE will be used primarily as a blocker rather than a pass catcher.

  3. I get the Bills needed upgrades on the defensive side and only time will tell the success or failure of this draft. Surely the potential is there for this draft to bear some fruit for years to come. However, choosing not to pick an impact TE, an LT or QB tells me that the Bills are either happy with their mediocre-at-best offense or that they have FA plans yet to play out. I get that you can't fill all the holes at once, but completely ignoring the offensive side of the ball is a head-scratcher to me. For God's sake, will we ever replace Jim Kelly or have a TE who can scare the other team?

I think Bell will will be fine at LT (the needs on defense were much much much higher than drafting a noobie LT)

TE doesn't seem to be an important part of Gaiey's offense anyway. No worries there.

I'm more concerned about not having a "good" backup QB - if Fitz goes down who is going to take over, Brown? I hope they pick up a decent FA 2nd string QB.

  4. If Fitz goes down with an injury next season, do you want to hang your hat on Bad Bad Levi Brown or Bad Bad Brian Brohm? Seriously, we need to consider signing Vince Young as a backup QB.

Otherwise, let's plan on LUCK next April.

Brohm was dumped a couple of months ago. They will probably pick up a FA QB as second string...it won't be VY.

  5. The point being that despite being on the downward slope and playing out of position he was better than whatever else we have. Now if they don't go out and bring in a free agent we'll be relying on a rookie to make an impact. I'm all for improving the team, but wait until you have a replacement before you start trimming the roster.

You could pick up just about any free agent DE to replace that bum - he sucks as a DE. NO loss.

  6. +1

He was THE worst DLman we had all last season. I'll put it this way, Kelsay played better at LB than Stroud did at DE last season. That's how bad he was.

I wonder if this move is indicative of the Bills' draft plan.

    GO BILLS!!!

Absolutely - He was awful at DE. Later Marcus.

  7. With the score 10-6 with two minutes left the Bills intercepted Aikman and were driving. They were inside the 10 yard line with 3rd and 6, or something like that, and they called that stupid ass shuttle pass play. It never worked. It was a gutless play, to settle for a field goal which made the score just 13-6 at helftime. Had the Bills gone for the throat the score would of been 17-6 and the Thurman fumble would not have tied the score and crushed the teams morale.

The shovel pass may have worked if if Jimmy Johnson didn't know the Bills were going to call that play. Did you ever hear him admit seeing Buffalo practice video of that play before the game? I saw it on the NFL network - it was the story of the 1993 cowboys I believe. They showed the video Johnson watched. Kelly and Thurman running through he shovel pass during a taped practice. Johnson had the balls to say something like "I mentioned to Jim several years later that I saw video of the shovel pass before the game". "Jim wasn't very happy when I told him". What a stupid comment - Why would he be happy? F'n cheater!

Here is the video - compliments of youtube - watch starting at 4:40.

WTF was thier practice video on TV?

  8. this right here is why bad teams stay bad. didnt they just switch to the 3-4, now back to the 4-3 once they started to get to the point that they had the personnel needed? acquire talent, castoff talent, overpay in draft picks to reacquire new talent, switch back to original scheme, castoff talent

They don't have the talent on defense to play either scheme. It needs an overhaul anyway - who cares if they go back to the 4-3. Their run defense cant be any worse.

  9. I want to find out how we at TSW stand about getting a QB in this draft. I have been carrying QB at P6 (pretty low; only P9 is lower) for the last 4 weeks, and this week the Correspondents'Mock Draft has us taking Scott Tolzien in Round6. Not a bad late round QB (I'd take Enderle) but should I just set our QB priority to P9, meaning no QB will be picked?

    Astro

This team has many holes to fill but I don't think one of them is starting QB. We probably should look for a capable backup though. Brohm was horrid against the Jets.

  10. Marty shot was talking to Peter King about his days In S.d . One of the things he mentioned is how Buddy was the Go to guy when it came to evaluating players for the draft . He said the A.j relied heavily on Buddy for all matters on draft day . He basically said no one is better at evaluating players then Buddy Nix. Take it for what it is worth, form your own opinions. That said I think Buddy is doing a great job. Look at all the talent brought in either through undrafted Free agents or through the waiver process. While the Bills are still lacky in several areas the top to bottom quality is greatly improved in his first year. Can't wait to see what he does in his first offseason after having a year to evaluate his current talent.

Was NOT impressed with his first draft - Why pick Spiller when the team is changing to a 3-4 defense and has been near the bottom or at the bottom in run defense for the past several years....plus several guys were learning new positions on defense (Kelsay, Stroud etc...)

I hope they draft what they NEED this time around.

  11. To those that CONTINUE to defend Whitner....Just comparing some of Whitner's numbers. Is he still worth the money? BULLLSHT.

DONTE WHITNERS CAREER...64 games started, 1.5 sacks, 5 INTs, 1 TD, 17 PDef, 3 FF.

    ERIC BERRY - 14 GAMES STARTED, 2 sacks, 3 INT, 8 PDef, 1 FF.

    TROY POLAMALU - (LAST 58 STARTS, 5 SEASONS) - 2 sacks, 19 INTs, 1 TD, 50 PDef, 5 FF

KENNY PHILLIPS - 19 GAMES STARTED, 12 PDef, 4 INTs,

    ADRIAN WILSON - (LAST 5 SEASONS, 70 GAMES,) - 11.5 SACKS, 15 INTS, 1TD, 7 FF, 35 PDef

    LARON LANDRY - (LAST 56 GAMES STARTED) - 4 sacks, 4 INT, 5 FF, 31 PDef.

    YEREMIAH BELL - (LAST 57 STARTS) - 6 sacks, 4 INT, 8 FF, 36 PDef.

    DAWAN LANDRY - (62 STARTS) - 5 sacks, 2 FF, 9 INTs, 24 PDef,

    RENALDO HILL - (LAST 67 STARTS) - 2 sacks, 3 FF, 9 INTS, 2 SACKS, 22 PDef

So in conclusion, what is Donte Whitner good at?

    ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

He is good at two things:

    1) Talking smack

    2) collecting his paycheck

    That is all.

  12. Seemed like Kelsay had yet another solid game to me. It's a few weeks in a row now.

He still looks like a fish out of water when they run strange defenses that get him 20 yards downfield, but he played well off the edge and was applying consistent pressure. It's hard to sack Roethlisberger.

Give the man some love! :)

Don't know how many times the guy gets close the the QB and MISSES the tackle! He needs to learn how to drive his body into the QB rather than reaching for him. He often gets close but misses which is frustrating to see.

  13. Is there a worse TV Analyst than Soloman Wilcots. When I listen to him it drives me nuts. Whatever occurred in the last 3 minutes is what he says is happening the entire game. Bad short term memory I guess. He does not accurately describe what is happening and every once in a while he throws some obscure coaching term into the discussion in order to try to make him sound like he knows something.

Collinsworth - During the Sunday night game, he kept saying over and over and over San Diego should get the ball more to Gates - a guy that could hardly run due to ijuries to both feet.
