I do think they are better than they were last year. The more important question is are they better relative to the teams in the AFC East. That question will be answered by mid November.
I dont think this team is much better then last year - same O-line problems which will get much worse as soon as one of the starters goes down.
RB/QB - same
WR - very young group without Evans - the inexperience will show at times
The D-line is better, the LB's will be better IF and only IF Merriman and Barnett are healthy.
Secondary - same
special teams - same
I'll go out on a limb and say they will win 2 more games then last year 6-10. They won't start 0-8 this year though......

Actually....I see the reasoning in some of the responses....
Hear me out though....I dont want the bills to drum up a winning record off of beating teams that were less then 100 percent only to have a game that meant going to the playoffs or not in the balance then go in and get killed.....
But....agreed...I will take it how I can get it.....hopefully the confidence of a team finding a way to win will biuld confidence leading up to that game...
This team feels like the perfect storm to me this year....
- Nobody takes us seriously...causing a close nit team to get that "chip"
- A defense that could go from dead last to into the top 15
- A Chan Gailey offense who makes the most of the players he has...center resolved, right guard and right tackle playing steady, Levitre has LG locked down, Bell is the wilcard right now.....we have some depth at the OT position.
- SEVERAL young fast WR targets with a number 1 that looks like he is ready to take that next step......a big solid TE finally on the roster in Chandler
- A veteran QB that the team respects
- A number 1 running back that sould start for more teams in the league then many would like to believe......top 10 running back behind him with a lot to prove
This team could make the playoffs....they really could
I need some of whatever it is you are smoking........

Manning is DONE. All this maybe he will/maybe won't stuff is a smokescreen for the fact that the guy's neck is totally eff'd up! Trust me. The constant, gnawing pain of a degerative spine condition (especially in the lower lumbar or neck) is a career-ending condition. I think we may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the Manning era in Indy.
Hey - TE is available - Maybe they will sign him...LOL
-
You're comparing Andre Reed to Lee Evans. Listen to yourself.
The ONLY thing they had in common was the number.

red helmets rule
Standing Buffalo taking a wiz helmets rule.

yes and Belicheck implemented the same gameplan for the next "15" losses??? You're missing the point. the fact that we killed NE days after we signed Milloy is the point. I.e. gameplan info.
You are missing the point - We beat them ONE TIME out of the last 16 tries - Milloy's info helped ONE time and it has been nothing but losses since.
-
And he equated to as much in those 24 hours as he did the past 3 seasons on the bills.
Nope - He cost the Bills millions, I'm sure the Jets didn't pay him much......
-
Well not anymore, per PFT Maybin's been cut.
There's a shocker! He lasted what 24 hours on the roster? LOL!
-
No LOL here. He was signed by Buffalo days before the first game. We SMOKED them on opening day and his info was likely a large part of that victory. That close to the regular season, he was certainly privy to 'that' initial gameplan etc. Given that the victory occurred right after we signed Milloy and the fact that we have not beaten them since only supports the premise.
Yea - too bad his "great information" led to what 15 consecutive losses since......
-
We beat the patriots that year.
And that was the last time we did - 2003....LOL! His valuable information helped us beat them once the past 8 years.
-
He going to give us all the Belichek secrets!
Yea - Just like Lawyer Milloy did.....
-
??? What mistakes are still on our roster???
PTR
The mistakes have been cleared out - but who has filled the gaping holes after 10 years of horrid drafting? Do they have them filled now? That remains to be seen.
-
The Bills have struck out consistently between 2000 and 2010 - probably a real good reason why they haven't beat the Patriots since 2003.
-
After lighting it up in another preseason joique bell has made the roster of the super bowl contending saints. Hits the holes quickly, breaks tackles, has a nose for the end zone. What does a guy have to show in preseason to not get cut by the bills. I have the same feeling about kamar Aiken this year that I had about bell last year. An obvious NFL talent let go.
Fred Jackson is still trying to prove himself to this coaching staff. It's really mind boggling....
-
Trent is the worst....The bills did not ruin him....For all you Trent defenders over the years yall r dead wrong......Sat next to a couple wearing matching Trent Edwards jerseys at Buf-Mia game last year and wanted to punch em both in the face....So long Capt Checkdown.....worst Bill ever....
If Edwards is the worst Bill EVER - where would you rank Maybin? He is the WORST Bill/Number 1 pick in the history of the franchise.
-
Why are we talking about Trent Edwards.....get over it.
The concussions he sustained (especially the one in Arizona) made him a timid worthless QB. He was more aggressive throwig the ball as a rookie then he is today.
Stick a fork in him - the guy is done. I agree waste of time talking about him.
-
Add Billy Joe Hobert and Tom Flores to the list of Bills-Raiders flops.
I believe the last NFL roster JP LOSTMAN was on was Da Raiders - strange coincidence?? LOL!
-
I understand looking out for the players safety. But why go through the effort when the kicker sails it through the end zone every time? Why doesn't the NFL just place the ball on the twenty yard line and get on with it. I am starting to think the NFL stands for no fun league.
Why have a kickoff - only time there will be returns is if it is really windy. Just put it at the 20.
-
If Evans was on the team, we would have won this scrimmage...
He would have had one catch for 4 yards - maybe.
-
Good left tackles get chip help all the time.....and Bell didn't need it last week against Julius Peppers and did fine.
Sometimes...you have a bad game....and its up to the coaches to make an adjustment.....we didnt make that adjustment in this game because they wanted to see how the team handled it because its PRESEASON.
Actually the more I go over the game tape I think we actually brought this on ourselves....when we ran that fake punt Denver might have been like "so its like that huh" and started running blitz packages.
Yup - we always find ways to beat ourselves.
-
Wow, weird, exactly what I said last night about not scheming at all.. But of course the negative nancies are out in force.
LOL! I have heard this since 2000. How much did Denver scheme for this game? How much does NE scheme in the pre-season? The Bills don't execute - they don't have the talent/hunger/killer instinct to WIN. Plain and simple.
-
Here's the source code for an app that simulates TBD the day after a bad preseason game:
10 PRINT "WE'RE DOOMED WE SUCK BAD PREP 0-16 OH NO WE'RE DONE NIX BLOWS GAILEY BLOWS 4TH ROUND O LINE D LINE SECONDARY FITZ HAS NO ARM SUCK SUCK [HEAD BASH SMILEY] SUCK 0-16"
20 GOTO 10
30 END
Give them time to play together in game situations for more than five minutes. They had no OTAs or any of the pre-pre-season work.
GO BILLS!!!!!
Denver didn't have OTA's or pre-pre-season work either - they are light years ahead of us - the Patriots could skip pre-season entirely and still come out more physical/hungry/aggressive than us.
In your code above, I think you meant 30 RUN
Or perhaps you were being optimistic by putting in 30 END? Unfortunately the "END" of bad Bills teams isn't in the near future.
-
Same old crap different year.....Run D looked better thats about it.
Maybe 6-10. Pats/Jets will Own us again.
