  1. I think his coaching W-L record is nothing to write home about.

    1999 8-8

    2000 12-4

    2001 10-6

    2002 7-9

    2003 10-6

    2004 9-7

    2005 6-10

    2006 13-3

    2007 5-11

    Over all: 80-64 .556

    Yes...his coaching record is better than Dick Jauron's - but who's isn't?

I would rather take my chances on a guy that has not coached - and roll my dice that we have the next best "new guy!

We already tried the "guy who hasn't coached"...Greg Williams, Mike Mularkey.......who wants another decade of failure. Its time to bring in a coach with a winning record.

  2. I cant believe i never heard of this till just now

    http://www.nytimes.com/1998/02/11/sports/p...r-contract.html

whats interesting is that if he had played out the contract he would have easily started over Dilfer and got his revenge on the Giants in SB XXXV

Ted Marchibroda was the head coach in Baltimore at that time....he wanted Kelly. Kelly thought about it briefly then said he couldn't see himself as anything but a Buffalo Bill......Of course he ended up staying retired.

  3. If we bring in a free agent to help develop Brohm there are a few QB's in their 30's who might work. Jon Kitna 37 (Dallas) is a possiblity I just don't like him much. The two that I find intriging are Charlie Batch who as back up in Pittsburgh may be willing to jump ship to start somewhere and Joey Harrington who has been behing Drew Brees in New Orleans for a year now and probably has learned a ton. Harrington is only 31 so he could stick around for a while but who knows. Also intriging is David Carr the back up in NYG right now. Thoughts anyone?

Jeff George is available....He should be well rested after taking the past decade off.

Stick a fork in all of them.

  4. What a huge feather in the cap for Perry Fewell if he can end this silly losing streak vs. NE. It's a meaningful game for the Pats so it would be extra nice. There's not much talk on this board about the actual game?!? I have to admit, I'm really looking forward to watching it. I'm so sick of going to these Pats games at RWS and seeing Brady, Moss,, etc...just walk in like they own the place with their smug faces...do what they want, and then get on a plane with their W.

I hope the Bills make Brady VERY uncomfortable in the pocket and the weather is so bitter cold that the Pats just look lifeless out there while the Bills play out of their minds.

Excited for a December Bills game...lol! It's been years....

  5. Fixing this moribund franchise is actually easy... and it doesn't require a general manager.

An exorcism is required, at the 50-yard line at Ralphie Field... to be conducted by Scott Norwood, Booth Lusteg, OJ and Ronnie Harmon.

Don't forget the 1999 special teams squad.

  6. Kawika Mitchell is the scumbag. Who is that underachiever to be calling out guys that he's never played with? F--- him.

Incognito has a clean slate in Buffalo as far as I'm concerned.

And quite frankly, I'd like to see someone on that offense get a little scrappy with the opposition for a change.

    Agree 100%

  7. Flacco and TE aren't comparable players in terms of talent and that has nothing to do with supporting cast. Nobody has said it takes one player to make a winning team and that was NEVER the point. It's kind of ignorant to pretend there isn't obvious differences between Flacco and Edwards but whatever.

If you want a perfect comparison for TE, then just stick with the Bills. He can't beat out Ryan Fitzpatrick under the exact same circumstances and that should say it all.

Cassle to the Chiefs...Brees to the Saints...... It aint a one man show dude. Thats the point you are missing.

How about Favre to the Jets...how many people were saying he was washed up last year.....where are those people now?

  8. You have unsuccessfully diverted the argument. The debate was not if "Flacco deserves all of the glory" but rather is he comparable in ability to TE. Which is still, not even a debate.

The talent around Flacco was literally the same talent that was around Kyle Boller the year before. Credit for the turnaround goes to a number of different places but largely to Flacco. What do you have against the guy?

I have nothing against him. I'm telling you HE isn't the ONLY reason for the turn around.

Tell me why Matt Cassel did't take the Cheifs to 11-5 this year genious? He was a winning QB in New England so according to your logic that should carry over to the Chiefs right?

If the talent isn't there, if the coaching isn't there, if the system doesn't fit the players it aint gonna happen. Plugging in one guy and expecting him to be a miracle man doesn't work. Cassel doesn't look like the same QB this year...Gee I wonder why?

It must be because he "sucks" and doesn't have a "rocket arm". LOL!

You can't compare Edwards to Flacco because nobody knows how TE would do with a surrouding cast of talent, coaching, the right system, etc etc...

  9. Child Please. If you want to make a case that Flacco and Edwards are comparable players, go right ahead. I was just trying to restore a little credibility back into this thread.

Bills fans are torn on who is better, Fitzy or Edwards. That's downright pitiful. Flacco was the rookie of the year last year and the first rookie QB to win two playoff games. I suppose you think Evans is comparable to Andre Johnson as well.

Ok... I'm a child because you disagree? LOL! So many people out there point the finger in one place rather than looking at the entire picture. I'm not saying FLAK-O is better or worse than TE. I'm saying he had the talent around him which gave him a "chance" to succeed. One player doesn't make a team great...there are many other pieces that have to be in place in order for success to come through. So stop giving FLAKE-O all the glory for Baltimore’s good season last year. He didn't do it alone. Ben Rothlisberger won a super bowl his second year...was it because he was better than Tom Brady? LOL man wake up and smell what you are shoveling.

  10. Actually, Flacco is a huge part of the Ravens winning. The team went 5-11 the year before Flacco was drafted. The very next season, with rookie Joe Flacco as the starter, they go 13-6 making it to the afc championship. The comparison to Edwards is ridiculous. Edwards has never won anywhere and has lost his team, his coaching staff, and his job (to Ryan Fitzpatrick?).

That Ravens defense is far from all-time anymore. They are solid still but not even close to that superbowl defense.

What else changed from the 5-11 season and when Flacco took over? Come on this isn't hard...

    THE ENTIRE COACHING STAFF....

    Nuff said.

  11. Just for the record, never once in his NFL career did Trent even sniff JP's 2006 performance (3,000 yds, 19 TDs, 14 INTs).

    And JP wasn't good.

And for the poster that made the Flacco comparison: no. Not even close. Flacco has a cannon arm and won almost as many games in his first season as Trent has in his entire career.

All current Bills QBs are lousy, let's move on.

How many of the games that Flacco "won" were won by his defense? Hell Trent Dilfer won a superbowl with that team. LOL! You are comparing watermelons to peas.

  12. It's definitely true. Whatever it was that happened (and I guess maybe it was cumulative), there is no question that whomever is making the decisions at OBD (something else we'll never know) has decreed that Edwards has played his last game as a Bill. It's strange, especially after watching Fitz play yesterday (there is no way Edwards would be WORSE than that, and I for one think he'd be a slight-to-moderate upgrade). But you're right, the decision has been made and they've moved on.

Remember when San Diego gave up on a guy named Drew Brees? I'm not saying TE is the next Brees....TE never had the talent around him to be sucessful. He had a God AWFUL offensive line, no running game, one WR with talent, (I'm not counting the addition of TO as any sort of help whatsoever), and a roster full of TE's that couldn't CATCH...how can anyone expect him to be good with the crap he had here?

Oh yea and don't forget about the "DICKLESS" coach he had the past 3 seasons who taught him how to play "not to lose" and most famous quote was "It's tough to win in the NFL".

  13. can we lump Maybin in on this thread, got burned on that one screen. He did blow up that one screen play but was about an inch away from a facemask penalty. He should not be allowed to celebrate like he got a safety in the 4th quarter of the superbowl whenever he is close to a play either.

At least the guy plays with some emotion....

  14. Has anyone ever seen worse QB play in the NFL the last 2 weeks. Last week, Fitzpatrick had a 36.5 QB rating and his week it had to be as bad or worse. He has no sense of reading defenses and his pick in the end zone was totally inexcuseable. I cannot believe that Trent Edwards is worse than him. We are in real trouble and you can't even blame the OL for yesterday's pathetic performance. He had plenty of time to throw the ball. The Bills Offense is unatchable at this point.

Fitz sucks. I'm not a huge Edwards fan either, but I'm sure he would have passed for more than 100 yards the past two games. I really doesn't matter who starts at this point.

  15. I constantly see postings calling for upgrades to our defensive line and OLB......and while I agree we need upgrades in these areas, the heart and soul of the defense should be the MLB...and I can't think of a single NFL team that has a worse starting MLB than we do....

sure Poz makes lots of tackles, but how many of these tackles are for gains of less than 5 yards??....we need a tough force that can strip blockers and make plays near the line of scrimmage, not 5-10 yards downfield....

I would keep Poz, but move him to OLB....and find an NFL caliber MLB to man the middle and lead our defense.

P.S....for the record, outside of our secondary, let's give some kudos to Kyle Williams.....a solid consistent force all season and a player to complement rather than replace!

Lots of comparisons were made between Poz and Shane Conlan when we drafted him....sorry...he's no Shane Conlan thats for sure. I don't think he's the worst starting MLB in the leage...he certainly isn't in the top 20.
