1. Oh please......get a grip....Bledsoe is 5-3 after beating Arizona..and with a good offensive line. We would MAYBE be 4-4 with Drew in there...BFD. Drew will end up the season 9-7 in Dallas...and they will have had it with him by that time.We would be at least 4-4 if Holcomb played the whole season so far.

    491967

Hey man, anything that works to make yourself feel better. We are all stinging from another season of losing TD football.

  2. we'll probably be worse than 7-9. Maybe 5-11 or 6-10. I actually came pretty close to our season so far.

COPIED AND PASTED from April 13th, 2005, and I got hammered by all the homers for saying this........

We beat up on mostly patsies last year in running our record up. Our line is in chaos. We have a rookie QB. Wait, let me repeat, WE HAVE A ROOKIE QB.

OK, now let's look, although I hope we go 12-4, it's not gonna happen.

SUN 9/11 HOUSTON AT BUFFALO 1:00p (ET)

We win this one, just because we are the Bills, and we think we shouldn't lose at home to Houston, especially after what happened at home to JAX last year. In a low scoring affair we win. 1-0.

SUN 9/18 BUFFALO AT TAMPA BAY 1:00p (ET)

Losman's first road game. At TB. Not gonna happen for us. Another tight game as our defense holds down Tampa's O. Nonetheless, 10-9 TB. 1-1

SUN 9/25 ATLANTA AT BUFFALO 1:00p (ET)

Ron Mexico simply makes more plays than our future Ron Mexico "type" QB. 1-2

SUN 10/2 BUFFALO AT NEW ORLEANS 12:00p (CT)

JP back at the dome. We win this one on some fluky play. Many Bills fans make the trip and we get to .500. 2-2

SUN 10/9 MIAMI AT BUFFALO 1:00p (ET)

Simply wear down Miami like most teams will do. Our defense wins this one for us. 3-2.

SUN 10/16 NEW YORK JETS AT BUFFALO 4:15p (ET)

This is the one we lose at home this year, that we all think we are gonna win. 3-3

SUN 10/23 BUFFALO AT OAKLAND 1:15p (PT)

Oakland is the most improved team in the league. West Coast. Black Hole, rookie QB. Nuff said. 3-4

SUN 10/30 BUFFALO AT NEW ENGLAND 8:30p (ET)

Primetime. We get closer, but no way. 3-5

    SUN 11/6 BYE

SUN 11/13 KANSAS CITY AT BUFFALO 1:00p (ET)

JP can't score enough to beat KC no matter where it is. KC is improved and takes Denver's spot in the playoffs 3-6

SUN 11/20 BUFFALO AT SAN DIEGO 1:15p (PT)

See Oakland, except they don't have to improve. They won't be as good, but they still are a good football team. 3-7

SUN 11/27 CAROLINA AT BUFFALO 1:00p (ET)

This is one that we win in bad weather. 4-7

SUN 12/4 BUFFALO AT MIAMI 1:00p (ET)

Two in a row feels good, and we start to think JP isn't a bad pickup after all. 5-7

SUN 12/11 NEW ENGLAND AT BUFFALO 1:00p (ET)

Here is the game New England isn't supposed to lose, but they do lose to us. Our Superbowl. 6-7

SAT 12/17 DENVER AT BUFFALO 8:30p (ET)

A jacked up Ralph to get to .500 doesn't matter. Denver is in the hunt for post-season play and edge a gritty effort by us. 6-8

SAT 12/24 BUFFALO AT CINCINNATI 1:00p (ET)

Carson Palmer is leading the Bengals to a nice year. 6-9

SUN 1/1 BUFFALO AT NEW YORK JETS 1:00p (ET)

With Pennington hurt late, like always, the Bills get some mo for 2006. 7-9

    The Truth

  3. Yep...Maybe you are correct...Well I think I know you're correct about Donahoe and The Coaching...Of coarse Belichick had his opportunity with DB also, but I digress...Like I said concerning DB, we'll see at the end of the Year...My 2 best friends are Cowboys Fans and they are light years away from being in love with Bledsoe, so this story is definitely still being written...

But I think your points are well taken...And mostly on the mark...

    491945

Agreed, but don't get me wrong, I'm not in love with DB either, however, I definately think he's serviceable. I also think he's was our best option. Actually, I thought he was our best option IN A COMPETITION for a starting job with JP.

  4. Well admittedly DB is Playing well in Dallas, but no better than his 1st 8 Games with the Bills that saw him throw for 2500 yds, 16 TD's, and only 5 INT's...That same 2002 Season Bledsoe's numbers dropped in the last 8 Games to 1859 yds, 7TD's and 9 INT's...And we all know what happened in 2003 and 2004...

But I am willing to give credit where credit is due concerning DB...As he did in Buffalo, the start of his Cowboys career has been very solid...But I think History tells us not to judge a Season by the 1st 8 Games, especially where DB is concerned...As of this moment right now, would I take Bledsoe over Holcomb? As much as it pains me to say it...yes I probably would...We'll see if my opinion changes after Week 17...

    491924

Or maybe, just maybe, Bledsoe is playing for better coaches in Dallas (which is the understatement of the year). Maybe, just maybe, they are putting him in a system that is best suited to take advantage of his skills. Maybe, just maybe, the Bills braintrust, coaches and personnel people aren't all that great. Maybe, just maybe Pittsburgh got rid of Donahoe and kept Cowher for a reason. And finally, and this one's for you homer nation, maybe, just maybe, Tom Donahoe isn't the best GM in the league, while Modrak is 1A.

I think it's becoming more and more obvious.

  5. True. This is why Holcombe has racked up almost 42,000 yards and is closing in on Dan Fouts, while Bledsoe was thought so highly of that has started all of 10 or 11 games in 9 years.

    Oh wait......never mind.

    491875

Bill, I was in your corner also. And it's amazing, Bledsoe is having a good year in Dallas, and homer nation would never admit it. I'm not saying Bledsoe was the best QB in the league, but handing the job over to JP without competition is just moronic.

  6. Good post. I agree with your implication that the Bills have piled up wins against the mediocre teams rather than the good teams. A lot of that has to do with the Bills' style of defense and its over-reliance on blitzing. The bad teams don't pick up the blitz, the good ones do.

Also many of the problems have to do with the neglect of the offensive line in the draft, and the lack of continuity we've seen. And then there has been the struggle to find the team's next QB. Holcomb may well be the best QB the Bills have had in the TD era, but that's not necessarily a big compliment.

    491863

Correct. Basically the Bills bullied horrible QB's last year with a very high priced defense and everyone declared Jerry Gray the almighty savior. We constantly beatup on bad teams, and, IMO, do not have a great win under TD and MM. I won't even mention Gregg Williams.

Jerry Gray has been horrible when his talent level isn't superior to the team we are playing. Clements is looking to be the offensive version of Gray. Because of both of them, combined with Donahoe, I'm not sure about MM.

You can disect it all you want, but we are a below average football team that basically feed on the NFL's bottom feeders. It's not hard to see with these numbers.

  7. I will be at the game tonight, first time at the ketchup field.....My buddy is a life long steel fan and me 42 years of the bills misery...........I love the bills but have recently come to the conclusion that at least cowher can coach his ass off for 16-18 games a season.....I think it might be time to make that hat purchase, black and gold!!!!!!    Flame away my fellow bills fans!!!!!!!!!!

    491851

Jesus, you've gotta be friggin kidding me?

Do I like the direction and state of the Bills right now? Hell no. TD's time has run it's course. Tom Clements and Jerry Gray are horrible, IMO. HOWEVER....would I ever switch teams? HELL NO.

If you are serious, don't let the door hit you in the ass. I'd rather have a homer, tell me how good the Bills are, dinner with Simon then switch teams.

    Unreal.

  8. What's worse?  Trying to be optimistic, or wasting your time watching a team (and posting on a message board) for a team that you know has no future?

    CW

    491666

Fezzer, just do what I do and bet against them every road game they play. It's a lock. Since we love the Bills, my as well use them to make money. Oh, and the schedule is about to get a lot harder if anyone hasn't noticed.

  9. Did you play a teaser with UCLA?  I was laying 7 straight, so once it went OT, the best they could win by was 6.  Nice comeback though; 21 pts in the last 7 mins.

    491733

Yeah, I had them teased at pick along with Arizona State. That little teaser got me back to even going into Sunday. Well, minus juice on my two losses on Saturday.

You were right on Northwesterns line also. my other winner Saturday was Michigan straight at -3.

  10. Wow man, nice action!

I was two for three on Saturday, losing only the UCLA game.  I won with Fresno St. and the over in Texas-OSU.

Yesterday I didn't do too much...Gave the points with the Chargers and won, and teased the Pats with the Steelers.  I have the Steelers tonight at -4.

Nice pull though, that suddenly makes that Bills loss rather irrelevant....financially at least...

Don't want to lay the jinx, but I don't see Pittsburgh struggling to cover tonight.....GOOD LUCK

    491710

I hope I get the Steelers at -4. Should be a rout. Hopefully. I UCLA actually saved my ass on Saturday or I would have been down a litte bit.

    Good Luck tonight also!

  11. Since we have conferred on some entertainment, here's where I stand this week....

Won two and lost two on Saturday, so it was basically a wash. Actually I was down some juice.

    Sunday though.....Super Sunday.....

Makes the Bills choke a bit easier to swallow!

  12. This, of course, doesn't include the Gregg Williams era for Donahoe.....but for a team that was built to win now under MM, here's how they've fared. How long does TD get?

    24 Games of Data

  13. Fine, I'll be the hopeless optimist (remember, everyone roasted Wade Phillips for saying they weren't going to the playoffs when the Colts were at the same bad position we were- - and the Colts made it!).  While I don't know if we WILL or not, I know that this team CAN.

Why can we make the playoffs?  Here's a few reasons:

    1) We know we can go 5-1 in the division.  Already beat the Jets and Dolphins, and we should have beaten the Patriots (still stings).  Next game will be at home, so we have a shot.

    2) We have one of, if not the best RB in the league.  Control the clock, take away your opponents opportunities,  mask your QB weakness.

3)Special teams havn't been as explosive as last year, but do regularly set us up with great field position.

    4) Our only two hard road games are against the Chargers (who look totally beatable this year) and the Bengals.  Even if we lose thos two games, we could go 9-7 which is probably enough to win this division (although beating the Panthers AND Chiefs at home will be a tough challenge; but I still believe we can beat anyone at home).

So it'll be a REALLY tough road ahead, but we're not out of it yet.

That said, I don't think it matters which QB we put in.  Neither of them is really putting in great performances.

    CW

    491647

    LMAO.....wow!

  14. Yeah, I know, however MOST of those guys are piping up any more that we are

well into the season.  This was really meant to be a serious post/question for

the most part, are looking for answers, as should Ole' Whitey.

You'll see, it's only a matter of time before you'll have people telling you how these guys are about to hit their prime, OR about to enjoy more pro bowl success.  or, how everything is really OK.  See post # 11.

    488690

But hey, it's only "pre-season". LOL. Or like last year, Hey it's only the first, second, third, and fourth game." "It's early." And with no cupcakes this year on the schedule except in our division, it will become......"Be patient, we're re-tooling the roster."

TD's run should be over. He's failed. Miserably. I'm even willing to give MM the benefit of the doubt, but the GM has been horrid. But hey, he sells jerseys in the pro shop and tells Rochester that this Bills team is theirs.

Winning OR having SOME hope also fills seats Ralph.....can TD.

  15. Like so many on this board, I was completely shocked, disappointed, and quite frankly, disgusted by the effort this team put in last week at Oakland.  So much so that I really couldnt' bring myself to either read posts or post myself this week.

While still having the dead-inside feeling, I've decided (because I know everyone has been waiting for this) to make one post regarding Sundays game and the rest of the season.

I don't see any reason why we should not get killed Sunday.  Our offense is offensive, from its conservative play-calling (i.e. no long ball, not enough Willis) to the pathetic efforts of the O-line.  Our defense is just a flat-out embarassment.  Did any one of those guys realize that last Sunday was an actual game, and not a non-contact walk-through?

This team is going to walk onto the field at the 2005 Bruschi Bowl this Sunday and get their asses handed to them.  The team collectively (which means coaching staff included) has not given me one reason to think that we can do anything more on Sunday then to nail shut the coffin on the 2005 season.

And let me tell you...JP better start every game for the rest of the season after we lose on Sunday.  If this kid is going to be any better than he was earlier this season, he's got to get as many reps as possible.  And you may as well sit fat Sam and Nate, since neither will be here next year anyway.

Well, that's pretty much it.  And should we actually win on Sunday, well then I will truely believe that miracles can happen.

    488648

I'll be 100% more shocked if we win this Sunday than I was when we lost in Oakland.

  16. This team is getting old very fast.  This year is most likely over, and this team

    clearly not getting any better.

All players listed are starters, (Shelton ?), and I count ten.

    In order of last name:

    95 Adams, Sam DT 6-4 335 32 12 Texas A&M

    59 Fletcher, London LB 5-10 245 30 8 John Carroll

    10 Holcomb, Kelly QB 6-2 212 32 9 Middle Tennessee State

    36 Milloy, Lawyer S 6-0 190 31 10 Washington

    80 Moulds, Eric WR 6-2 210 32 10 Mississippi State

    96 Posey, Jeff LB 6-4 241 30 8 Southern Mississippi

    31 Shelton, Daimon FB 6-0 262 33 8 Sacramento State

    70 Teague, Trey OL 6-5 300 30 8 Tennessee

    58 Villarrial, Chris OL 6-3 318 32 10 Indiana(Pa)

    23 Vincent, Troy S 6-1 200 34 14 Wisconsin

    Now what?

    488552

You aren't allowed to say this on this board. This is like throwing chum off the back of the boat for sharks, only they are called homers on this board.

You'll see, it's only a matter of time before you'll have people telling you how these guys are about to hit their prime, OR about to enjoy more pro bowl success.

Yeah, TD has done a marvelous job.

  17. That game sucked on TV...but, I can imagine what it would be like i person.

I was at Rich Stadium (yes, it was Rich then)...don't remember the year.  The Bills were playing the Bears.  I think the final was 6-3 Bears.  The Bills punted in the 4th Q from mid-field on 4th and short.

    Man did THAT suck.

    488283

I can't quite remember it, but we did something in the endzone that screwed up a touchdown or something. I don't know if we went for a TD or something on 4th down, or someone dropped one or what, but something stupid happened in the endzone for us.

It was also the first game in Indy where there wasn't 10 to 12 thousand Bills fans in the Dome. I remember the upper deck during the early 90's at the Hooiser Dome where the upper deck was easily 75% Bills fans. This was the first game there that we really didn't show in numbers like we did for alot of years. Of course, it was a night game though.

  18. I am probably going to watch alone.  Whenever I make a big deal about the Bills being on television, and invite friends, they usually get trashed from the opening kickoff to the final gun...except that thrilling 1997 MNF game against the Colts, where the Bills won 6-3...

    488145

LMAO......I was at that game. I went to college at Ball State which is about 40 minutes from Indy. Wow, you talk about a borrrrrrrrrrrring game. I did scream my ass off at the end when we won it though.

Maybe the worst game I'd ever seen live.

  19. Dude, where you getting the seven, hook a board up with some info

    486323

lmao.....I don't even want to know. All I know is that I call my best friend from high school and he calls a guy that calls a guy that calls "THE GUY". I think I've heard him referred to as "Big Mike" somewhere in Western PA. LMAO. I don't wanna know.

But more and more, I'm seeing that people usually only get 6 points. I'm relatively new to wagering (about 2 years) for fun, so I dont' know if anyone gets 7, but I'm feeling good about not getting ripped off.

    :)

  20. From the same KFFL page I linked above:

They decided to go another direction for a reason.  Since we weren't privy to their meetings, it may very well be that Verba didn't want to come to Buffalo - maybe it's too far from Iowa for him.  Who knows?

    486281

No doubt. However, more and more it looks like TD is the biggest reason we usually go in other directions. I'm not confident in TD's "directions" anymore. His time has come and hopefully, soon, it will be gone.

  21. Yes you are.  I've only ever played with 6.

Next week looks like the same scenario...Baltimore at Pittsburgh (-8.5) on Monday night without Ray Lewis or Ed Reed...Very similar to Atl-NYJ game...

    486298

LOL, already had my eye on it. Tease of the year.....For my 7 point teasers.......I'm calling it....THE PRIMETIME SPECIAL.......bet your house, car and girlfriends dog on it......

New England (off of even a bye week) PICK over Buffalo

    Pittsburgh - 1 1/2 over Baltimore

You gotta love this one folks. I would equate it this past weekends Washington over Frisco, and like you said, Atl-NYJ games.

  22. Nicely done!

How'd you get the Falcons as a Pick'em?  I assume your tease was sliding 6 points?  I had them at -8, and my buddy had it at -8.5.

As a USC grad, it has pained me to do it, but I have been riding UCLA this year.  They are covering machines.  They are doing for me this year what the Chargers did for me last year.  Ride her till she bucks ya....

    486271

OH hell yes on UCLA. I've been riding them all year too. I started with them on the San Diego St game and have taken them since. It will be interesting to see the line for them against USC.

I'll tell you another one that can bring riches.....the University of Buffalo is brutal. I went against them all year, and made a ton, UNTIL Bowling Green didn't cover against them. But still, they are usually gold to go against.

  23. Nicely done!

How'd you get the Falcons as a Pick'em?  I assume your tease was sliding 6 points?  I had them at -8, and my buddy had it at -8.5.

    486271

Two things here......you are the 2nd person on the board that gets their teases at 6 points. My teasers can be booked with me getting to use 7 points either way. Does no one else get 7 points? Am I that lucky?

Also, I had to place all my entertainment guesses on Friday PM before the Michigan game Saturday because of my guy being outta town. So, he said if I wanted anything, he's sorry, but I had to place them Friday. He doesn't take open teases, so he said if I teased the games with the Falcons, I had to take them Friday night. Well hell, I had my eye on that game from the start, so I said no problem. At that time, I had the line on the USA Today at 7 (Sheridan I think). It was soon 7 1/2 on Bodog, and then it shot to either 8 or 8 1/2 yesterday. So, I had to bet blindly this weekend for the Monday Night game. But I liked all the lines I got at the time on Friday, so I took all of them and went with it. Worked out great. I had zero worries last night at all. I would've probably gone as much as 3 and been comfortable.
