There’s something different about McD this season…

One thing I think people forget about too is Josh wasn’t Josh until his third year in the league. So McDermott actually had average to below average quarterback play in his first three seasons as coach, but despite that had some winning seasons. It’s another reason I don’t like the lazy take of “he has Allen”. 1/3 of his career to date he didn’t have super Josh. -

He’s definitely grown as a coach. When Sean first took the team over, he was as serious as a heart attack (and still kinda is in some ways) but last last 2-3 years, he’s really started to loosen up some and the players do appreciate that. The local reporters seem to appreciate it as well. What really caught my eye is going back to last year on our run. In some of the post game press conferences, guys like Dion were saying that he’s letting them be them now. It’s not all work no play like it was for the first 4-5 years in his tenure. Him doing snow angels with Josh after the 49ers game…the cracking of jokes to the media (never used to do that, Stone Cold McDermott) but he’s become now what Belichick was in his later years. He’s striking a nice balance of fun and being serious. This version of McDermott is perfect, and it’s the sweet spot that Reid has been in for years. You can’t go all the way to the other side with it now, because if you do that you have Mike McDaniel. Even tho he’s a likable guy (and I like McDaniel) he’s never winning a Super Bowl…he’s just not. I personally think if McDermott bags a Super Bowl, his perception will change somewhat. Folks still think guys like Tomlin and Harbaugh are great coaches, yet they only have 1 title. McDermott knows how to win games, he’s been very good at it. Yes, ultimately you’re graded on how many championships you win, fair or unfair…but the guys on pace to be one of the best ever in terms of wins if he coaches another 15 years, basically the rest of Allen’s career. I’m very pleased with what he’s done in Buffalo with his opportunity. He’s brought stability, a winning culture and a perennial contender to the area…and it wasen’t easy. Guys like Gailey, Marrone and Ryan all had a shot at it. Each of them had sone success in the league to get their opportunity, be it as a coordinator or head coach…and I even liked a couple of those guys, but none of them figured it out…but a young Sean McDermott did. No coach is perfect, but I like ours. -
Still can’t get over this…what a collapse. I don’t know what the numbers are, but they have to be in some kind of rare territory to start 7-1 and miss the playoffs. Even with Jones it looked like it was going to happen but with him out for sure now, you really have to feel for Colts fans to have a promising season ripped away like that.

In McDermotts first season as head coach of the Buffalo Bills, he snapped the longest active playoff drought amongst the four major professional sports leagues, and he did it with Jo…I mean Nathan Peterman and Tyrod Taylor. Did Allen help with the win totals? Sure. But I’d argue McDermott was going to be good regardless based on his initial results. Also there’s more to a football team than one guy as we all know, this is a well deserved accolade

Can’t even imagine this…but somehow they went from 1st to 7th place in one game lol. I hope they manage to at least get in this year, they’ve been a nice story in 2025

Just surpassed John Madden and Mike McCarthy for most regular season wins in his first 9 seasons

I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s because they are fewer and fewer games left at old Highmark…but I feel Cinci is going to have their hands full with Billsmafia before they even have to deal with a single Bill on the field. Go Bills! -
Get Prater out of there. No offense to him but how many missed xp do we need to see. The team has been a rotating door this year and this one needs to happen IMO
-
It’s close. If he’s not 1, he’s 2 IMO. Incredible talent, needs to be utilized more in the passing game. Bring that about this winter and were going places in January.
-
They could, i’m not sure it gets first anymore but it would go a long ways towards a Super Bowl.

He’s performed well for the contract given, it’s all you can ask.
