Let's see what Davis can do with the 1st string for the rest of preseason.   I think people will be surprised

Cook is really talented, if a bit one dimensional, but it’s the gaffs in the big spots that lost my trust. He had a big statistical year, but still for some reason my gut says “wait and see”

PS Hope we draft this kid next year…

Not sure why this topic got resuscitated........

    But it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's not X's and O's.

Clever X's and O's might buy an OC a little stretch of success but DC's always catch up to the tactics.

Over the long haul of a 17 game season plus playoffs you need the players.

On paper,  Joe Brady doesn't have enough of them around Josh Allen to reach a SB.

They've f'd around with the WR corps........and we will find out if it's greater than the sum of it's parts or their collective track records soon enough.

I think you’re right. At the end of the day you need players that can beat the man in front of them whether the other team knows it’s coming or not.

I’m afraid we lack that at WR and Edge. Two “money” positions.

    But I’m having a typical Bills fan feeling: I hope I’m wrong…

  3. My dad moved from Buffalo to NE Ohio and married my mom. When the Bills started to get good in the late 1980s and be on TV he started watching them regularly.

I really fell in love with the team and all the personalities leading up to that first Super Bowl. That was the first of four January nights that I snuck off to the bathroom as a kid when the clock hit zeros to cover my face with a hand towel and shed some bitter tears.

The Bills used to hold joint scrimmage with the Pittsburgh Steelers towards the end of training camp. We went a few times and I got to meet all the greats (Levy, Kelly, Thomas, Reed, BRUUUCE!!! etc)

The last time we went was after the 4th Super Bowl loss. We went on the field afterwards and my dad went up to Ralph Wilson and said, “Hey Mr. Wilson, we gonna win a Super Bowl this year?” In Ralph’s perfect whiny old man voice he started to lecture my dad: “Do you have any idea what the odds are of going to a Super Bowl once? How about two, three, and four times?!” Haha… My dad was embarrassed and pissed but now it’s just funny to think about: my father got scolded by Ralph Wilson for wanting a Super Bowl win! Let that sink in!

I cringe every time I read something as unaware and ridiculous as this. Elam isn’t some child trying to learn to ride a bike or a junior high schooler struggling with algebra. This is a grown man who is being paid millions of dollars to do his job. I’m sure he’s trying and getting help from his team, but the adults in the room understand what happens when a team member can’t do their job and holds his team back.

In general I agree with you, with the one caveat that I felt ever since we drafted him that he was a square peg in a round hole. He has measurables and bloodlines and played in the SEC but aspects of his film sucked.

Beane is generally a good evaluator of talent but whiffs in some patterned ways. I cringed the night we drafted him. Of the CBs left on the board after the McGuffie pick to the Chiefs, I wanted Tarik Woolen.

I say give Elam one more chance (at corner and/or safety) but then dump him before the season if it isn’t working because he’s a liability to us winning a championship.

    Elam whooped Coleman? TWICE?

    BUST!

    A nut, over Elam's performance?

I am hoping that Kincaid can really be that number one dynamic weapon while the combo of Shakir/Samuel/Knox/Coleman/Cook are enough of a complement in the secondary receiving options while Cook/Davis/Ty have success running behind a strong offensive line. I hate seeing 2023 be derailed offensively due to an ‘’injury/decline from Diggs mid-season and a badly schemed offense. Because the Bills got a great offensive line season once Brown got straightened out after a bit of a rough start and Cook had a very good RB season, it is not most seasons that both things will hold up.

I’ve been pretty outspoken about wanting the Bills to go all out to find Josh the best receivers they can.

THAT SAID, if Kincaid takes a major leap into the stratosphere as one of the best big weapons in the NFL, then yes, that might just be enough to make this cast good enough. But I still wish we had at least one more sure fire guy on the outside. I think the benefit to our Offense would be exponential.

  7. Others have already said as much, but… maybe kinda but not yet.

    1) you must have skill position players that move the ball down the field… somebody’s got to do it and one position will get the most attempts as a group because…

    2) because the NFL is setting up an environment for wide open offenses, receivers are the best skill position to move the ball down the field because they average way more yards per touch than the running backs, and they are more plentiful than top flight TEs

You can win Super Bowls with lesser groups. I think of the Chiefs this year, but they have possibly the greatest TE of all time. So does that really count? Tom Brady did it with some lesser talent, but remember when the Patriots had Randy Moss and one year he had 23 TDs! Yes they stumbled in the Super Bowl to the Giants but they went 18-1 and slaughtered everyone until that point.

Yes you need a franchise QB and must protect him, but that done, receivers are still the shiz on offense and the great ones can be absolutely lethal with a good supporting cast.
