Sounds like Coleman was not a guy they really wanted to had to have.  I mean, that was pretty obvious from the fact that they traded down twice and then picked him.  He was in a bucket with a bunch of guys.  He talked about the tiers of WRs and said there was a clear top tier, then made it sound like there was a pretty big drop off to the end of round 1 and round 2 before getting to the 2nd tier.

To me, this means even a guy like BTJ who everyone had rated fairly highly, was in this tier 2 group and not in the tier 1 group because if he was, I believe they would have done everything they could have to move up the handful of spots it would have taken to get him.  So, guys like Worthy and Legette were probably all in the tier 2 bucket with Coleman and a few other guys and they just took the one that was there.  Frustrating for someone like me who did have several guys above Coleman who in this scenario I would have had more as a late tier 2, top of tier 3 kind of player.

But regardless, I think they are really hoping to win by having Josh play point guard this year and just get it to the open guy no matter who it is or what position it is.  It's a bold strategy that could pay off if it works, but if it doesn't, it's yet another season of not fully committing to building around Allen and just forcing him to make everyone around him better rather than getting Allen the most weapons possible to unlock even another level for Allen in his career.

In the Bills behind the scenes of the draft video they released, back at the combine after Coleman turned in his disappointing 40 time Brandon Beane said he was pleased that his time was slow so they would be able to get him at 28.   Clearly they were interested in him well before the draft.

    Yep.

Adding a viable number one would make the whole WR corps look much better.

Coleman looks more capable of being a quality WR2 than he does of being THE GUY. Shakir looks to be a viable slot WR and third option. Samuel would be an amazing WR4, move player, and depth at all three of the top spots. Mack Hollins WR5 and primarily special teams.

The WR corps is actually set up quite well to be the supporting unit to a legitimate WR1 -- the Bills just don't appear to have one on the roster.

They should trade for Stefon Diggs

Lots of renderings posted today of the new Jacksonville Jaguars stadium. Apparently they’re doing a major announcement on funding etc.

I don’t need to tell everyone that there’s WAY MORE renderings of the Jaguars new home than the Bills have shared to date….and we’re already well into construction. 😂

No renderings because they know the the stadium will already be like 15 years dated compared to other newly built/proposed venues.   But at least we're not getting MetLife stadium.

He also used this additional info to update the projected comp pick formula for next year and there are no changes. So the current projection is still that we will get a 4th and a 5th round comp pick next year.

Still plenty of time for the NFL to change their formula once again and screw us even more next year.

  6. I woulda rather ran our RB room back with Cook/Ty Johnson and using that 4th rd pick on another WR.   As it is it seems like we're putting an awful lot of stock into Coleman devolping into a #1 receiver this season and Shakir into a number 2.  Id like a little more insurance than that.

  7. All beane had to do was take another WR mid round receiver this year and we wouldnt be having this conversation.   For how long guys like Troy Franklin were sitting out there, Its like they deliberately made this a reset year when they didnt have to.

I think Beane was very careful not to trade picks from next year. It seems like they are planning on next off season being when they go for it and make some bigger moves.

It's disappointing, but I still think it's a team that can compete for a Superbowl this year.

Just feels like a ton of missed opportunities this draft with how many receivers we looked right past.   What if Coleman flops and next years WR class is kinda awful like 2023s?
