  1. when i moved to the philly area, one of the more learned posters told me to enjoy the sports that the area had to offer while not worrying about shifting alleigences (sp?)...boy the timing couldn't have been better....for this casual hockey fan who loves watching sabres playoff games, i got enveloped into the whole flyer mania this play-off season....just got back from a local bar where i was cheering as loudly as any flyer fan in the joint.....holy cow is it exciting.....thank god briere is an ex sabre....makes me feel a bit less dirty....

    Pooj, the flyers? Seriously?

    You broke my heart.

  2. I do one a year and try not to repeat.

    Week 2 @ Packers

    Week 3 @ Pats*

    Week 7 @ Ravens

    Week 8 @ Chiefs (Halloween)

    Week 11 @ Bengals

    Week 13 @ Vikings

    Week 15 @ fish

    Week 17 @ Jets

Been to games in Cinci, NY & Miami so they're out. The Halloween game is out - I do have kids. I've been to a game in Minnesota, but it was a Super Bowl. Mid-November in Minny ain't really floating my boat.

So it's down to one of the first 3. I'd love to do Green Bay, it's their home opener and tickets already look wicked expensive. I don't have much desire to go to New England until we start beating them again. So I'm leaning slightly to Baltimore, which will feature many of my good TBD friends.

    thoughts?

I live in Milwaukee. I went to the preseason packers-bills game last year. I am trying to organize a large crowd to go to this game in September, but cannot believe how much tickets are going for on stubhub/ebay.

Even though it was preseason, the lambeau experience is like no other.

  3. Saw him at UB after he released Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. My wife and I thought he was great. Probably not for everyone though.

I saw him at UB also. He is funny, but he just reads his stories at his events.

  4. 600MB and I still get close to the limit sometimes, but I'm a special case. Most employees here get about half that. 100 MB is pretty low.

Do you have achieve folders? You just need to change your settings to achieve stuff sooner.

Yes I can archive, but it is not the same since it's stored locally on my computer. I want the onus to be on someone else, like the IT DEPARTMENT!!! Store it on the server!

  5. I like to keep all emails for my records. For personal use, I use gmail. I can track events in my life simply by searching my email.

At work, we are only given 80 MB. You can email the IT guy and ask for more, but you only get upped to 100 MB. I constantly get the "Inbox full" message. In this day and age, is it too much to ask to just give me at least a gig? My boss prints out paper copies of emails and puts them in his "files", then he deletes the email. This is insane to me, but then again, haven't been here for long so who am I to rock the boat.

How much space do other people get?

  6. I wish someone could give me a serious, logical, intelligent reason why the US should NOT do a census. I'm willingly filling out my form, completely and correctly, and sending it in.

    Just don't get why it's a problem....

I agree with you. I don't understand all the paranoid tin foil hat wearing people in this thread.

If you have nothing to hide, what's the big deal?

If I have your first and last name I can search you on zabasearch.com and find out all sorts of info on anyone for free. If I pay $60 more I can get even more information. If you receive mail and apply for credit, you can't hide from Big Brother. Quite frankly, unless you're living off the grid, you can't hide.

  7. I bought a house two weeks ago that I haven't moved in yet. It is currently vacant. I got a call from the power company saying that the power was off last night for 3 hours. I have a natural gas furnace that is "energy efficient" (whatever that means) and it was installed in 1986.

    1) Does my furnace have a pilot light?

    2) Do I need to worry about my house filling up with gas if the power went out for three hours?

    3) Should I rush home right now to check it?

    Thanks.

  8. wow...nice sales job....this takes the edge off of having to leave a lot behind....my son is a huge eagles fan(actually mcnabb fan) so he is kind of jacked about this.....SEPTA doesnt go out to KoP does it? and a Pats Cheese Steak is in the top 5 of my list of things to do first

    Congrats on the job!

I am sorry about your son.

  9. im on the other side of the situation. my parents are on FB and friends with all my friends. and i love it.

it's the most convenient form of communication, and i can post pictures and keep my family in the loop without having to do the hour long weekly call anymore. my family gets to interact with my friends and feels like a much bigger part of my life. which definitely helps since im 1200 miles away and rarely make it home.

you shouldnt be embarrassed to read your kids' pages. anything they are putting up they are doing so with the knowledge that it's completely public.

    spy away!!

    I agree.

  10. This was a common complaint. The newest firmware update was supposed to fix it. Did you get the over the air update? (Takes about 10 minutes to download, restarts your phone, etc)

Got the phone on December 13. They made sure to do the update in store before giving it to me. When I go into the phone's settings, it says I have 2.0.1

  11. My GF and I both got one yesterday. I was already a verizon customer so I renewed my contract and got the phone at a verizon store for $150 after mail-in rebate of $100.

Anyway, it is my first smart phone, and so far I think it is a really cool device. That's all I really have to say.

  12. This thread and the "I can't give up soda" thread are blowing my mind. Why must people always make 900 excuses for their problems? The people in oodles of credit card debt blame the credit card companies for "forcing" them to spend money, instead of blaming themselves for buying crap they don't need. Why must overweight people blame everyone but themselves?

Not sure if it is still true but some time ago the salad with dressing was one of the highest calorie items on the McDonalds menu. Seems they loaded the dressing up with additives that made it very high in calories. So while Mcd's is not the most logical place to go if you are trying to maintain a healthy weight - even if you thought you were making a "good choice" it was in fact a very bad one (assuming you dumped the dressing on the salad).

Nobody puts a gun to your head and forces you to drench your salad in the dressing. Go to McDonalds, buy the salad and don't put the dressing on. Get water instead of pop. There, problem solved, even McDonald's can be healthy.

My problem is being on the road (driving) alot during the week, I can't stop at a grocery store and get something healthy. So I do fast food instead. But I make better (not smart, just better) choices about what I order. Usually just a double cheeseburger and diet coke, instead of the double whopper/quarter pounder with cheese and super size fries. I just need something to tied me over, not a huge meal.

You only got the double cheeseburger? Do you really think the double cheeseburger is a better alternative?

    My 2 cents.

I am in the eat less and exercise more category. Pretty simple. As someone mentioned, look at the success people have on the biggest loser. And what is really killer about that is that the people kicked off even in the first week or two went on to lose huige amounts of weight even when they got back home and back into their normal lives.

They decided they wanted to lose weight, and they did it..pretty simple.

I do not want to get on my soapbox here, but I quit smoking by realizing it was fear of quitting that was keepeing me smoking..not the pysical addiction.

In terms of the weight and fast food and alcohol, I am going thru that now and for the last 9 weeks. I have made a choice to to cut down on beers, fast food and starting training again. In 9 weeks I have have dropped 27 lbs just by making smarter choices on food, drinking water instead of wine or soda with my meals, and cutting out fast food. And I was a 3 time a week fast food guy at a minimum. It was freaking easy to cut out the fast food, the fried foods etc.

So lomg story short, I ain't buying the whole "addictive" foods crap. Now, off to quaff dwon plenty of beers and slam some pulled pig before the Richmond game. (another key for me..one day a week throw caution to the wind when it comes to nutrition)

Kudos to plenz. He didn't make any excuses for his unhealthy habits and just made a choice to stop putting crap in his body. It's probably not easy, but it's certainly made easier when you stop making every excuse in the book and just look in the mirror.

  13. I suppose in a way, that's true. But it's not just about willpower, which is what most in this thread seem to believe. It's a MUCH more complex issue than, "Don't eat it," especially since food companies are doing their best to re-wire your brain to force you to eat more. The entire issue, taken as a whole, is not black and white.

It's hard to win in the NFL.

It's hard to lose weight in the United States.

Why is this always such a sensitive issue? It IS as simple as Dank is making it. Stop eating crap and get off your ass. Don't blame some voodoo marketer for being fat because he tricked you into eating an egg roll! Take some !@#$ing responsibility!
