I think it’s important to point out that it is not just on game days. I typically come in on Friday and leave Monday. That’s three nights for 8-9 home games, plus hopefully a playoff game or two (forget the lousy preseason games, but a few people hit those too). It might sound like a pittance, but you are now approaching 7-10% of the nights every year with additional traffic and people spending cash. That is NOT insignificant to downtown. Admittedly, I still go to WNY and spend money, mostly in Williamsville, but I do VERY little downtown.

I know I’ll get “we are not Atlanta either”, but the Braves play at Truist Park at The Battery. The Battery surrounding the stadium consists of restaurants and bars and theaters and a couple hotels plus office and retail space. It’s very cool, and worth checking out if you are in town. It’s 65 acres of fun and we go regularly, but check to be sure the Braves aren’t playing because it’s more fun without the baseball crowds, IMO.  On game days people go many hours in advance and enjoy all the amenities. They also stay late to eat, drink and have fun post-game while the traffic thins out. People also come from out of town, even if just a long drive, and stay in the hotels to make a night of it rather than driving home after a big night. A much smaller version of The Battery (even if more informal) may or may not be feasible, but it would drive some traffic.

AGAIN, I’m NOT pushing for downtown, but we get to do this once and I hope they get it right. I’d hate to close my eyes to any possibilities.

If you come to the Buffalo area for 3 days regardless, what does it change that the location is downtown. Are downtown dollars more significant than suburban dollars?

As  John Fina , prior bills tackle in the super bowl years , said on his podcast , those stats mean nothing. Sure they look good but in reality Josh shock have had a completion percentage above 80% and chose to not throw. Multiple times to wide open receivers in the short zones and keep mixing the chains.  It’s about scoring and the W , not the stats you are bragging about as being proof that Josh is above criticism.   We lost and we shouldn’t have to a team that injury riddled!

Also on the final sneak it’s true dawkins s beaten badly , and as Fina points out , Josh took an unnecessary hop step to the left which is something you are never taught in a qb sneak. You drive forward and if you review the film from above , Morse and Williams had driven their guys back into the ENDZONE , and if Josh had just not hopped  to his left there was an easy path to the first down and even a possible td.  As Fina said , 70% of the failure of that play was on Josh not just using his size and power to get a few inches and I believe a lineman who has been in the teaching rooms over all the pundits on here who are such homers at times they can’t face facts that Josh needs better situational awareness at times and still Can improve. . The proof is in the scoreboard, it was an L,  not the silly stats that mean nothing concerning the final outcome.  Try keeping a more open mind and not letting your fan boy over ride rational thought and perhaps get some help with analysis from guys who have actually been in those situations.  🤔😀We all love Josh , but he still causes lots of drives to stall with some intellectual breakdowns and hopefully he will actually do what he says in his pressers when he constantly repeats  “ I have to be better , I can’t do that”!  We’ve heard  a lot over the prior 3 years.  He just needs to develop consistency and he could become Brady like in his career.

Josh didn’t hop to his left on accident. That was the play call. The blocking was pushing to the right to open up the C gap for Josh. Dawkins got beat so badly that the C gap didn’t exist.

Well…, in that it would go hand in hand with his current portfolio of investments in Buffalo…, not hard to fathom,

    Go Bills!!!

Oh are you thinking that Terry would own the land/stadium?

Yup, Last game I went to, it took 45 plus minutes to get to the highway, and frankly, that’s pretty normal for a large sporting event, OP is a cluster Fuh k of cars with a high percentage  of “legally” inebriated people driving those cars after a game, as Augie said, let’s not pretend it’s something other than what it is…, 👍

    Go Bills!!!

    Where did you park?

So? The same would be true in Buffalo, or Cincinnati. What’s the point? I’m tired of this, so your answer, if any, may go unanswered. You have yet to make a convincing point.

Your “nationwide tour of stadiums in the NFL” sounds like a few trips to NFL cities.

    We can agree to disagree.

For those interested, maybe i’ll create a thread sometime with pics of my road trip. It was a great time. I purchased a conversion van with all of the amenities and drove from New York to California, and back. Stopping at every NFL city / stadium along the way.

What fans want and what Terry needs in the second smallest market to compete and remain viable are two very different things.

How does a downtown stadium give Terry what he needs, in your estimation?

“Substandard”? In what way? My son lived there for years. He loved it. Two years ago we took a friend of his friend who has lived there for almost two decades.  HE loves it. You may be reading a bunch of whiney folks on some message board. They will always exist. Having been a homeowner in Nashville and spent considerable time there, I have never heard a single local complain about the stadium or the location. Most people think it’s awesome! People on message boards whine. (I’ll leave it at that.)

It sounds like you don’t like the idea of a stadium outside of OP. This has little or nothing to do with the Nashville stadium, I’m guessing. The huge crowd that drifts over the pedestrian bridge into downtown seriously reduces the traffic out of the parking lots. A piece of cake compared to OP, unless you park in Hamburg. You may have an agenda, but a few whiners that you may have read on a message board is not convincing me of anything.

    .

I do not have an agenda. I was pro-Downtown stadium for many years until I went on a nationwide tour of stadiums in the NFL. After seeing so many and all different options and ideas and the impact location had on each… That’s what changed my mind.

The #1 reason proponents like the location of the Titans stadium is the closeness to Broadway and bars. With the Titans often having as many away fans as home fans, that’s a big plus. Tourists like to hit the bar before and after.

    Locals want to go home.

No, you only posted a general rule about PI, and then gave your own incorrect interpretation

I love to learn and i’m always open to being incorrect and correcting myself. Which is why I asked, and ask again, can you cite somewhere in the rule book that describes an uncatchable pass in the same manner that you do?

  7. 1 hour ago, 1ManRaid said:

That's not how "uncatchable" works.  It was only uncatchable by virtue of the foul from the defender.  You only rule uncatchable if the receiver wouldn't have had a reasonable ability to make a play on the ball even if he wasn't interfered with, such as the ball being thrown 5 yards out of bounds.

Do you have any citation in the rule book to back this up?

You must have a helicopter. I was 12 cars back trying to get into Hammers lot for the opener at 7:12am. At 7:35 we were still 3 cars back when someone intervened by walking into the road and stopping traffic. It took us more than 20 minutes to go about 50 feet.

AGAIN, I don’t care where the stadium goes as long as it remains in WNY. But let’s not pretend we don’t have a traffic issue with the lots in OP.

Ahh, yes, I don’t have much experience with Hammers lot. I can see it being difficult to navigate out of there. I try to park on California. Very easy out.

Ball was in the air when contact was made, so that's where the penalty goes for PI.  Illegal contact is for when the ball is still in the QB's hands.  The call and placement was correct by rule.

Perhaps that is the distinction. Ball in air. I don’t recall when he threw it.

Edit; But then again, PI is not called when first contact is made. PI - by rule - can only be called when the receivers ability to catch the ball is significantly hindered. At the 5 yard line, the ball is uncatchable at that point.

We used to own a place in Nashville, and I’ve been there as a “local”, as well. This is simply not true. It’s a piece of cake compared to getting in and out of the lots in OP. This is coming from a guy who honestly doesn’t care where the new stadium goes. I’m just a guy who has has both experiences and knows the difference.

I suppose I can only say that your experience varies quite differently to the thousands who post on the Titans forum. As with everything in life, perspective is everything.

Rachel Bush agrees with you on the disparity in holding calls:

    https://nypost.com/2021/10/21/jordan-poyers-wife-rachel-bush-slams-refs-after-bills-loss/

Well, I agree with you too.

I think the Diggs PI was marked correctly.  Spot of the foul.

But it was a bit hard having 2 TDs called back due to holding when it seemed as though major holds were missed on Henry's run.  I felt they were obvious enough even the announcers were surprised...they hesitated then commented "No Flags"

I’m not so certain that the Diggs spot was correct.

While the defender did indeed make first made contact with Diggs at the 5 yard line, the ball was no where near Diggs at this time. Because the ball was no where within Diggs reasonable catch radius, the call would have had to be illegal contact if they believe the foul occurred at the 5 yard line. This is where the “not catchable” rule comes into play for PI.

For pass interference to be eligible, the defender must hinder the receivers ability to physically catch the pass (section 5, article 1). The defender physically hindered Diggs ability to catch pass in the endzone, and therefore if PI is to be called, the ball should be placed at the 1.

There is no spot penalty for illegal contact - it’s only 5 yards and a first down.

  12. This has been happening all year long, across the entire NFL. New York is communicating with the on-field referee crew in live-time to fix obvious mistakes and reduce the need for coaches challenges.

This is made possible by a new rule that was approved during the 2021 offseason. This rule allows the replay official to change (in live-time), the spot of the ball, complete/incomplete/int passes, line to gain, etc.

The NFL replay official has until 20 seconds on the next plays play-clock to change something. That’s why coaches should *not* throw a challenge flag until there is LESS than 20 seconds on the play clock. Otherwise they could be wasting a challenge.

I also have no idea why Diggs PI was placed at the 5 yard line.

A dome Downtown preferably. But Dome anywhere is fine with me.

end of the Day. It has to be a Dome. I want my high powered offense to play in the best possible conditions for all home games to include all future 1 seeds.

Since i’m not paying for it and therefore money is no option, I want an LA-type stadium.

Meaning, it has a roof but both sides of the endzone are open.

This blocks rain and some wind (and in Buffalo, snow) but allows for an outdoor feel.

It’ll never happen, but that would be my dream.

After Nashville last weekend, I have to say I realized how much I LOVED the option of hotels and bars in walking distance. I had been to games there multiple times, but this thread reminds me of how different it could be. Not saying better or worse, just different. I don’t like the whole drinking, driving and parking aspect that requires planning for games in remote areas. Nothing is perfect, but Nashville handled it with ease with packed hotels and bars downtown. It was a blast, once again!

People often fear change, but change can be good. Games in OP are GREAT, but there are other types of experiences that can also be great. People should be open minded, in all ways.

This feels like a bit of “the grass is greener on the other side”. I say that because Titan fans hate their stadium being downtown. It is a consistent gripe on the Titans message board.

Among other things, parking sucks and traffic leaving the stadium is horrendous. You likely didn’t have to deal with it because you’re a tourist and can simply walk back to the hotel. Locals don’t want to walk back to a hotel or a bar after the game. They want to go home.

They’re currently trying to pass legislation that will add another 100+ acres to the stadium complex which would include more parking, hotels, etc to make the stadium more viable.

Summary: The Titan experience is nice for tourists, bad for locals. And Buffalo isn’t exactly a top tourist attraction.

Great numbers indeed.  But Einstein should know that decision making is also important and not always reflected  on the stat sheet.  That 2nd last drive could have iced the game.  You have to take what’s given and be patient.  Allen is still learning.

Well, first off I'd like to note that Buffalo scored 31 points on Monday night yet Allen was horrible, according to some here.  Ditto on games where the Bills plan is obviously to run down a team's throat.  So points are apparently not a great metric of QB quality and neither are rush yards (sarcasm) or overall yards.  Some sarcasm here, in case it's not obvious.

Second, I'd like to note that Lamar did throw two picks in that Chargers game, and that watching that in any game, one can make a legit point that the QB didn't "Do His Job".

And one of them was one of the worst INT’s i’ve seen in some time. There was not a receiver anywhere in the vicinity.

The Ravens won that game because of a strong defensive performance (4 turnovers) along with running the ball.
