I suspect they will sit Jones and Dane will take Jones' special teams snaps.  Gives them more options of players that can actually play RB and CB.

Bills rarely do something crazy like that and just activate random guys unless they're down depth. We can read the tea leaves all we want but my guess is Taiwan Jones takes the RB3 spot because he has a key role on special teams. Williams and Jackson will be inactive unless there's some exceptional with regards to the weather or some other extenuating circumstance.

I told my nephew Winfield Jr is just like his father. I took 2 minutes to myself after that comment.

I honestly use to say when I was younger that I'll start feeling old once I'm older than the players the Bills draft. Then all of a sudden players are getting elected into the Hall of Fame that I've watched get drafted.

    Lol. Oh well.

The thing that gets me most about the Winfield connection is that Winfield Sr played against Brady (and picked him off once too!) and now Winfield Jr plays with Brady on the Bucs. It's gotta be some bonkers stuff to hear your starting QB tell you stories about playing against your dad.

It’s the best job and he’s the best candidate.  I’d be shocked if the chargers chose someone other than Daboll.  The only question is, will Daboll choose the chargers over the Bills?

If I was Daboll I would think long and hard about being in the same division as Mahomes/Reid. You might be coming into a good situation but that's going to be one hell of a hill to climb every year to make the playoffs.

We were, imo , manhandled on both offensive and defensive lines.  It was frustrating to see the lack of pass rush on Rivers and no dont tell me he has a quick release.

Honestly against the Colts O-line with Rivers back there I expected it. I did not expect our team to get any sacks on him, and I was right. He has one of the best olines in the league and gets rid of the ball under 2.5 seconds. You're not getting to the QB in 2.5 seconds behind that line unless you bring the absolute house.

  5. I'm secretly hoping he stays here for a couple of years to pad his resume and help us get a ring.

Honestly if I'm him I would be very wary of accepting any head coaching position in the AFC West. That division is the new AFC East with the Chiefs/Mahomes there. Yes you have solid building blocks and a very promising looking rookie in Justin Herbert, but do you want to be stuck in a division where you have to play the Chiefs twice a year? With the Broncos and Raiders being okay, but not good enough its going to be a slog to win that division and most years you're looking at a wild card being your best shot to make the postseason.

    Well...shows what I know 😅

That being said, is Heath Farwell going to shuffle the special teams roster so that the Bills can have 4 RBs on the active game day roster? If they do do that, who is inactive? My guess is they've always dressed 3 RBs on gameday and Taiwan Jones has a key role as a gunner and will continue to do so, not sure Antonio Williams has the same straight line speed and special teams vet experience to read coverages and take approach angles the same way Taiwan does.

  7. I give it a very low chance that Williams plays on Saturday. To my knowledge he does not play special teams and we typically have 4 RB on the active roster with only 3 active on gameday.

With Moss out Yeldon will take the RB2 spot and Taiwan Jones will keep RB3 because he plays special teams. Good chance Williams is elevated to the active roster, but is made inactive on game day.

I do think part of that was the fact that Rivers, on average, was getting the ball out of his hands in about 2.5 seconds. It is going to be tough to get any kind of consistent pressure in that amount of time. Rivers was killing us with fairly quick throws to his tight ends.

I don't think we gameplanned to get sacks that game to be honest, between Colts having a top 5 oline and Rivers being notoriously hard to sack because his veteran experience we didn't bring pressure to bring him down. The best we could hope for, which I believe the Bills executed quite well, was to make Rivers uncomfortable and delay is processing time by a fraction of a second longer than usual.

That missed 4th down throw to Pittman? Pressure package that threw him off JUST enough that he misread and backpedalled, then threw off his back foot.

That other missed down to Pittman for a sure first and goal? Brought just enough pressure/confusion that he threw the ball a bit too late, or he thought PIttman would sit in the zone and turn upfield for the 1st instead of continuing his route.

If the other team provides outstanding protection and the quarterback reads the field quickly and gets the ball out quickly trying to bring overwhelming pressure to overcome those advantages is very risky. You have to bring too many guys to get the result you want (sack).

The less risky move is to understand that you're unlikely to sack him, but you can overcome that by creating just enough confusion/hesitation that a throw will come a fraction of a second late, he'll second guess what he's seeing for just a moment and those instances are enough to create the big play you need on 3rd down to get the stop. The margin for error is smaller, but its way less risky than trying sack a veteran QB with a fast release and outstanding protection.

  9. I wonder if it was just all the stress and anxiety I felt during this game, but I don't recall thinking during the game or right after that Josh Allen played as lights out as his stats indicated. It felt pretty routine Josh Allen out there, doing normal Josh Allen stuff.

Its bonkers that 300+ yards passing, 70+ completion %, a couple of passing TDs, 40-50 rushing and another rushing score feels like a mild day at the office for him.
