Lamar Jackson has regressed mightily as predicted the past two years.

The dolphins zero blitzed him 36x last year and he was horrid. It was embarrassing for a 4th year qb

The pistol he ran in 19 was very much a gimmick offense, similar to the wildcat, and he can be dangerous in rpo concepts. Mainly because it forces man coverage and is a dummy proof offense.

Once teams zeroed in on that, he's been really really bad outside of him using his legs for rushing yards

I think his career is very much at a crossroads and if he keeps regressing , he'll go down the same path as Kaepernick, Tebow, etc.

Nothing wrong with being a mobile QB

    Roger staubach

    Elway

    Randall Cunningham

    Andrew Luck

    Mahomes

    Allen

Etc. But you must be able to make plays as a pocket passer at an advanced level or you will wash out.

Maybe, a huge maybe, if you could build a historical oline and defense like 95 Nebraska, you can win big that way. But it has never been done in the NFL

Allen and mahomes both said they aren't Changing their contact. They both signed long term for a reason and want to win

What else would they say?  Any good agent is going to renegotiate their star qbs contract especially if lesser talented guys are making more than them.  No other quarterback in the league does more offensively than JA17 and he’s got the numbers and game tape to back it up.  He wins a SB you can bet there will be a massive pay bump of some sort for him.  It would be rightfully deserved too.

Maybe those who have attended training camp can enlighten me.

So Von Millers natural position is linebacker, although pass rushing linebacker.  We run nickel defense most of the time and Milano/Edmunds are our two linebackers in the 4-2-5.

I am curious as to how we exactly plan to utilize him.  I am not sure having him line up as DE with his hands in the dirt will be getting the most out of him (maybe it is IDK).  I think this is a good problem to have and Frazier/McDermott can really get creative with some of our looks/disguises.

Also makes me wonder who will be our other DE if we aren't having Von Miller line up exclusively there.  Boogie?  Lawson?

If this has been discussed, I apologize in advance.

I expect to see him moved around like Lorenzo Alexander used to.  If the other d-ends show they’re ready to make the jump we can move Von all over the place.

2018 was a great draft.  If Harrison Phillips stayed healthy, it probably would have been a phenomenal draft.

2017 was a really good draft too.  3 starters -White, Dawkins, and Milano.  The other picks are still in the league.  Jones (Jaguars), Peterman (Bears) and Vallego (Cards).  McD did well for a guy walking into a bleeping mess.

Speaking of messes, here's the 2016 draft:

    RoundPickPlayerPositionCollegeNotes

1 19 Shaq Lawson DE Clemson

2 41 Reggie Ragland LB Alabama Pick from CHI

3 80 Adolphus Washington DE Ohio State

4 139 Cardale Jones QB Ohio StCompensatory

5 156 Jonathan Williams RB Arkansas

6 192 Kolby Listenbee WR TCU

    6 218 Kevon Seymour

Man I remember being so hype for Ragland and Washington.  Also remember Cardale Jones being our QBof  the future with some proper Rex Ryan development.  Ah the good old days.

This is like the Eric Andre Show meets Dr. Steve Brule meets the 2022 Buffalo Bills... if this team doesn't win a Super Bowl then I don't know what to believe in anymore.

Lol What is happening here.  God I can’t wait to see Josh doing some funny ass commercials on Sundays soon.

I don’t know anything about college guys but I like the thought process of taking 2 corners and 2 receivers.  We need an influx of young talent at both positions.

Great, now I get to listen to all the fair weather Bucs fans extolled the virtues of having two more superbowls that Buffalo. They conveniently forget the 43 years of historical ineptitude wrapped around those championships

To be fair our future super bowl title is also going to be wrapped around decades of ineptitude also.

Geez Jets have quite a few quality picks.  Can they get it together and build a team around Zach Wilson?

I like their coach even though we have owned him.  They played tough to finish out the year as bad as they were.  Dolphins worry me if they make a move for a a qb.  I hope the pats stick with Mac for a while because I can never get enough of beating up on Bill Belichick.  Gonna be a fun offseason.

Okay maybe a bit dramatic. Allen still has another 10-12 years of top level play left in him but this year was the perfect storm to win a Super Bowl.

The NFC was weak this year, there was no clear cut favourite other than a 45 year old Tom Brady. The 49ers don’t awe you and the Rams are and up and down football team. Who knows who wins Sunday. The AFC had a lot of mediocre playoff teams. Vegas, Pittsburgh, Tennessee had no offense down the stretch yet we’re a one seed. Cincinnati is playing out of their minds right now but need a last second FG to beat Tennessee and Vegas went down to the last play.

Speaking of Cincinnati, they’ll only get better. Burrow another year older same with Chase. KC still has Mahomes. You have to think the Chargers begin to start

putting it together in Herbert’s third year. Baltimore gets Jackson back, who were 8-3 when he got injured. Cleveland could be back in the mix, they made the AFCCG last year and played the Chiefs close. Indy has a good team other than Wentz. Etc. The NFC who knows, I don’t see any franchise quarterbacks up and coming in that conference.

After 2022 Allen’s cap hit goes to 40 million dollars, unless that’s adjusted we start losing room to build a team. Competing gets tougher. Bad teams overpay our good players because we can’t afford them. And winning gets harder. With Allen, winning every game is possible but it’s not as straight forward as it could have been this year.

I think with the way Allen plays five more years of this level of play is probable.  He keeps taking the beatings he does he’s going to hit the Cam Newton wall and his body will fall apart after 30. Our window is smaller than what people are thinking.  10 more years of this style of play and he’ll be using a walker by the time he’s 40.  Nothing says he can’t be more of a pocket passer but the elite running/throwing from him is only viable a few more years IMO.

Remember when McD suspended Frasier's D coordinator duties for a game or two? Cause he wasn't doing what was expected. I suspect McD fires Leslie if he doesn't get an HC position somewhere else. McD needs to assume the D coordinator duties unless he can land a Swartz type guy which I doubt.

Time for McD to own it.

I’d love to get Swartz back.  I think him and McDermott would be a great combo and Swartz would some bring some passion to that defense.  I respect Frazier but he’s so darn mellow all the time and the defense tends to reflect that personality, when we get punched in the mouth we tend to fold.  Swartz’s defenses will at least keep hitting you back.

Without Tre can remember sportswriters and analysts saying we were done.  Our defensive unit was forced to rely heavily upon safety zones and man coverages to catch up.  Let's be honest Tre is a future hall of fame corner back.  And, he brought more to the corner spot then anyone else.  We weren't even supposed to be in the playoffs or even get past the wild card without Tre.  A pick by Poyer changed the complexion of the Bills and Patriots game.  We should've of had to rely so heavily on Tre but he's the bread and butter of helping the defensive front get their pressure and generating the coverage sacks.  It showed in the end when we blew out KC earlier this season and had Tre.

I think Tre is a really good cornerback and perfect for our system but I wouldn’t call him a future hall of famer.  I do think we win the game Sunday if he was healthy. I wouldn’t be upset to see us use our first round pick at the position to one get better but more importantly not have to rush Tre back from injury.
