  1. Good lord we do this every election in the social media age and it’s extremely dangerous.  Both sides apparently are running hitler and you better choose red team or blue team or it’s the end of democracy!  How are we even entertaining Trump vs Biden round 2? We’re broken, stick a fork in us because the empire is over.  Been a good run.

Von was averaging almost a sack a game and our past rush went to zero after he got hurt...all on one of the leagues top defenses...not sure why you feel he shouldn't be on there.

Because He only played half the season. Same with Micah, great player but when you miss extended time you shouldn’t be on the list imo.

  3. In our new world of artificial intelligence it’s hard to know what’s real and what’s not.  The voice recording of the Wagner group leader is something that could be easily have been fabricated and just be misinformation.

the video of the reported missile attack doesn’t look very convincing and the damage looks minimal.  It all seems like something to get the Russians panicked and now maybe Ukraine does go for the big counter attack.  Going to be interesting.  If a full blow civil war happens in Russia who knows how that plays out but i error on the side of caution until we get more info

  4. I really can’t stand Diggs attitude.  he’s always about himself.  From standing on the field after the kc loss, to blowing up on the sideline multiple times and needing hugs from coach.  Plus his social media is a cryptic emotional mess like my teenage nieces.  I’m petty, let him sit and fine him for all the money.

granted now that Josh has shown his character by knocking up some bartender and hanging out with celebs, maybe this is the end of the run.  It’s been fun.

Couple things I think are incorrect:

Leonard Floyd is a pass-rushing DE and will not be playing WLB in our system. The only reason he is listed there is because he played OLB with the Rams.

Tyler Matakevich will not be the direct backup to Milano since he's really just a special teamer.

Taron Johnson will not be Tre's direct backup, but he's only listed there because there is no Nickel CB spot on this depth chart.

Personally, I think the depth charts on OurLads tend to be the most accurate:

    https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/BUF

I think Floyd takes the old Lorenzo Alexander role.  He will be used all over the place.  Olb I thinks the proper listing

A 9 AM sunday steak is quite the move

My brother would eat leftover dinner from the night before for breakfast the next day growing up.  Full out dinners, steak, chicken, pasta in the morning and he swore by it.  Same concept said it helped him keep his energy stable throughout the day.   I thought it was weird but he was just ahead of the times.

Reasons to be optimistic about the season:

--Many key players are in their prime, including Allen, Diggs, Davis, Dawkins, Harris, Knox, Oliver, Milano, and White.

--Oliver is in his contract year, so he may finally live up to his draft status.

--Allen, Davis, Poyer, Hyde, and Brown are all healthy, and White is another year past his ACL injury.

--Knox has had a year to recover from losing his brother, and the team has had the offseason to recover from Hamlin, Tops, etc.

--Beane has done a good job upgrading the depth, adding Poona, Edwards, Sherfield, Harty, Murray, and Shell, as well as bringing back key veterans like Lawson and Martin.

--McDermott takes over DC duties. Conceivably, this could be a negative, but he won the head coach job because he was a very effective DC, so odds are he'll do great.

--Dorsey, Kromer, Smiley, Babich, and Brady all have a year's worth of experience with their respective charges, which can only help.

--Last year's rookies all look ready to contribute more than last year, especially Elam, Cook, Benford, and Shakir.

--This year's rookies should make valuable contributions, and Kincaid, Torrence, and Williams may end up starting.

--They are no longer the media darlings anymore, which might take some of the pressure off.

    Reasons for pessimism:

--Diggs' prima donna act may get worse and become a distraction.

--They now need to get past not just the Chiefs, but also the Bengals, Dolphins, Jets, and maybe Ravens.

--They have no real backup for Dawkins.

--Their pass rush will likely continue to be mediocre until Miller returns.

--The offensive line may have two new starters and will take time to jell.

--Kincaid, Harty, Shorter, and Sheffield might not add enough juice, even taken together.

As you see, reasons for optimism outnumber reasons for pessimism. But it's only May!

I feel really good about our offseason.  I wasn’t expecting huge moves going into it but we have added some nice players.  I am worried about who replaces Tremaine in the middle but I hope McDermott calling plays can make up for the loss of experience there.

Our secondary is back and deeper than ever.  Hopefully the Dline plays well enough so we don’t rush Von back.

I would love to see us pound the rock out the gate just to show teams they need to be ready for anything offensively this season.  Can’t wait til the opener!

Allen refuses to check it down. Been saying this since his rookie year. The check downs would negate his reason to run

To be fair if most humans had Josh’s physical skills they’d have a hard time not trying to throw lasers downfield.  Chicks dig the longball!!  I do agree though when Josh is willing to take the easy stuff the offense just flows so nice.  I’m hoping Dorsey gets there but Daboll had this offense humming his last two years.

This is going to be a major letdown if they don’t get him.

It seems they want him but don’t want to risk future cap to get him.

Beane needs to understand Poyer, Hyde, Miller, and Diggs are not just starting their careers. They’re getting older. Go for it now!!!

I wouldn’t say major letdown but it would be a bummer.  I would like to have him but money is going to be too tight imo.  Very rarely do guys walk away from the most guaranteed money which somebody will offer him.   I can Detroit or Seattle making a move.

  10. It seems low imo but I do feel this is a make or break year for McDermott.  Top notch human being but he has repeatedly cost us winnable games.  Terrible time outs and challenges, bad clock management and losing games we shouldn’t.

I wish nothing more than for him to get us to the promise land but we have to seriously consider if he’s the guy if we flop out of the playoffs again.   This teams not getting any younger.

Well lets make those predictions now!

Feel free to add any comments about why you picked the week you picked and/or thoughts on his production....

Feel free to add when you think he will come off IR (I believe its a 4 week window to be activate)...this poll is for your prediction for the 1st game he PLAYS in

I am going to say week 9..BENGALS.

EDIT:  Winners will receive a TBD hat courtesy of the MODS! (normally reserved for platinum level members)...possibly

Week 8 is my guess. He’s older than Tre by quite a few years and he didn’t return until a full year.  Last thing we need to do is rush back our 34 year old pass rusher before he’s ready.  Playoffs are a given as long as Josh is healthy.  Von and the gang being healthy is the difference if we get to the big dance or not.

You aren’t wrong on that. But they don’t care about the graphics of a few players faces etc. it’s not what kids want nowadays. They want Hess to head online play. They want lots of mechanic options. Madden/EA has announced they are hiring world class gamers to help fix the madden platform this year and if it doesn’t work you may not see it anymore. My guess is you’ll get yearly updates on roster changes but on older games/platforms.

They’ve said that though for the last five maddens.  I’ll believe it when I see it.  They want nothing more than people to play ultimate because that what gets them to spend money.

I see what kids spend hundreds on fortnight and ea would love to have their model. watch them go to a free to play online version only, with micro transactions for legends and all Star players and different uniform options.

I gotta admit, I was disappointed with Elam's play at the beginning of 2022.  But he seemed to progress as the season unfolded.  And now PFF has named Elam their Bills "breakout candidate" for 2023.

Despite being a first-round pick in 2022, Elam failed to become a starting cornerback by the start of the season and had an inconsistent rookie year. However, as a former first-round pick, he should have plenty of opportunities to win that position battle. He also finished the season strong, flipping his 56.7 PFF grade in the regular season to 87.1 in two playoff games, a mark that would have ranked second among cornerbacks in the regular season.

Thoughts?  Do you agree?  Disagree?  Why?

I think he’s got the talent. If he makes the jump and Tre returns to form, we have the best secondary in football imo.  Very excited to see him and Benford battle for that position.

Growing up playing both sports, the biggest obstacle with hockey is money. It’s really expensive. Football is such a unique sport because it takes so many different type of athletes to play it. I also think the physical part of it will be a major wake up call to non rugby countries. I love football but Oklahoma drills in hot august is a form of torture.

Let’s be honest. We have a generation (I’m becoming a grumpy old man!) of soft, entitled wussies (wanted to use another word).  To become great at football, it is an absolute grind. More than any other sport, the mindset of a football is so different. You can’t fake it as much as you can in other sports.

I agree the kids are softer these days but honestly I put a lot of that on parents more so than the kids.  I think young boys in particular don’t have much concern for their own physical well-being growing up.

Again I don’t have kids of my own so it’s just my opinion from the outside looking in.  I know my friends coddle their kids so much so the kids are a reflection of that imo.

There have been a lot of players coming from Africa and taking up football in the states...........but Osi Umeniyora is heavily involved in getting young players in development in Africa during their HS age years.    This kid Emmanuel Okoye is committing to an SEC school right out of the program.    This is significant, IMO.   As participation in football is declining at the youth level here in the US the NFL needs to start finding new pipelines so we don't start having drafts like the last one on the regular.    Hard to imagine an NBA without Giannis and Luka and Embiid.

Good article.  I saw somewhere that for the first time that youth football in the states has less than a million kids playing total.  That number used to be close to triple that.  I don’t have kids but I’d have a hard time letting them play any earlier than high school level even though I played myself.

I feel the game is much safer than when I played but knowing how fragile the brain is it’s tough to justify young kids playing tackle football.  I know a lot more flag football and 7 on 7 clubs are becoming more popular but I do feel the overall quality of the game will drop especially when it comes to offensive line play and tackling.

Finding new pipelines will be crucial especially with how much the league wants to expand overseas

8 playoff games in to his career Josh Allen has accounted for 47% of the Bills running yards, 417 of 883 total rush yards.

This is staggering amount for any QB. For QBs who have started 8 or more playoff games, no QB has ever run for more than 43 yards per game. Allen is at 52. The next closest is Steve Young at 42. This is astonishing when considering the fact Allen ranks #3 in passing yards per game 291.75, beyond only Drew Brees 298.11, and Kurt Warner 304.

Compare Allen's stats to his Patrick Mahomes. In 14 career playoff games Mahomes has accounted for 20% of the Chiefs rushing yards, 383 of 1312 total rush yards.

The Chiefs offense has averaged 24.07 rushes per game, 121.07yards and 1.21 TDs.

    The Chiefs defense has averaged 24.29 / 112.86 / 1.07 TDs.

    The Bills offense has averaged 22.88 / 110.38 / .75 TDs.

    The Bills defense has averages 27.63 / 131.63 / 1.00 TDs.

Can we expect the compliment of Damien Harris, Lativous Murray, and James Cook to account for 80% of the Bills playoff rush yards similar to what Mahomes enjoys?

Will the offseason investments made in our IOL help improve the running game come playoff time?

Will the addition of Poona Ford help the Bills defense clamp down on the run and cut the opposing offenses rush game?

I seem to find myself saying at least once a game, he’s just special. Running and throwing he combines the best of both elements.  I’ve conceded that he’s not going to change his playing style and I’m ok with it.  I don’t see him playing past 35  with the abuse his body takes.

I just think you limit his potential if you tske away his running on both designed plays and on scrambles.

  18. Well no I would not think they could afford or would want Ertz at this point.  It does seem like McDermott has wanted two strong tightends for the last few years between Ertz and bringing in OJ Howard they seem to have a plan there.
