Your English is excellent! Is English part of the school curriculum there? I know it was for my mom, who grew up in Taiwan.

Oh well… excellent, i won’t say that 😃,  but thank you.

It is thanks to the many times i’ve been in the US on vacation when i was young.. with my best friends. We were used to come there also a couple of times a year.. and that for something like 10 years.

I studied english at school too (but i don’t honestly know how much it helped me, you know how the level there could be, very basic), but i’m used to read a lot in english and of course, the most important part, chat in this board that help me to learn how to speak english the “right way” 😂

  2. Hello my dears Bills friends.

Season over, we’ve been year for five months talking about football, the Bills and all the things related on them.

After the Cincy game we started talking about what went wrong, the reasons of our elimination and after those first days after that game, the threads are all about the FA, draft, what to do to improve the roster, prediction on the 2023-2024 season, about Beane,McD, Dorsey, Frazier, the new stadium, etc.

I know many here will make fun of me about this thread, it’s ok… but i wanted to talk about something different. Who we really are ?

Maybe not friends in the right meaning of the word, but sure we are friends thanks to the Bills. So let’s say who we really are in normal life, if you don’t mind, of course. 😉

Me: i’m Giulio, 52 next sept, i’m 5’9” tall and around 160lbs, live in north Italy, very close to Swisse, married with two little kids, 8 and 3, both girls… so my football days are all alone 😄 (fortunately).

I’m an insurance agent and i played soccer for almost 35 years, now i ski (since i was 10), I cycling and and of course love to watch many other sports, nba and baseball also.

Ohh.. i was forgetting this: i really love good food.. but how I couldn’t ? I’m italian. 😁

We can start knowing each other a little bit… also if i know that some of you are close friends already, in life and not only here.

  3. Hope the Mods won’t merge this because i think this a different angle on looking at Josh vs the others two.

I won’t make a list on the three QBs characteristics, many of you already did very accurately.

Thers’s just a reason, just one, that show everybody why JOSH17 is right now the best QB in the game.

Give Josh a great OL or give Josh Diggs,  Chase or Jefferson, and healty Bease and Kelce and Buffalo scores 40 every single game.

Not 30, not 35, but up to 40, yes FOURTY POINTS A GAME.

Josh17 a pure beast, a unicorn, a gift from the sky, best cannon in the game, a linebacker body type, a fullback runner, a true warrior courage.

Do the “others two” have this special sides ? NO.

Could the “others two” accomplish what Josh17 does with the weak offensive weapons he play with ? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

    Those are pure facts !

That’s why Josh17 is the best of best bests talent in the game.

Give me Ben Roethlisberger's career with Pittsburgh (two SB's, three appearances) over 18 seasons.  Only missed the playoffs six times.

This could be a good outcome but unfortunately the choices are set:

    1. WIN THE DAMN SB but after that, no more joy in the regular season, just awful seasons with Pats, Phins and Jets (yes, the Jets!) ruling

    2. NO SB but every year a true contender, winning the Division, record between 13 and 15 wins every season and always at least the AFCCG

It’s a pain to chose one or the other… you are between one year of greatness vs many years with four full months of excitement and pleasure

  5. Hi fellas.

Moat of us here is a diehard Bills fan since very long time, fans that went through everything… and that went through the big drought.

After the four SB appearances we had year of nothing… entire seasons where we were irrelevant, where from sept to dec we knew the Bills were a joke.

No talent, no strong ownership, no great coaches, no nothing.

WE DIDN’T LITERALLY HAD DREAMS AND AMBITIONS.

Then we drafted 17 and everything changed. We finally started to believe again and dream again. WE AGAIN ARE A CONTENDER.

But unfortunately, till now, we didn’t get there. But we enjoyed great seasons, from sept to jan.

Every year we enjoy 16 (before) and 17 (now) games where every weekend we know we start like favorite almost in every game.

But then the playoffs come and we fall short… and so our dreams and we got frustrated again.

And here is the question, you have to make a choice:

    - keep on having great regular seasons, always be in a 15-2 to 13-4 range, so for four months you c*m almost every week, but then you fell shot

    - finally win the SB but after that become irrelevant again for 8-10 years, with loooong seasons, before becoming a contender again ?

    What’s your pick ?

IT’S A GAME, take it that way please, just curious about your opinion.  🙂

1.) If he's a "JJ Watt type of player" - he won't be there at 28.

2.) If we Draft a 3rd Defensive End in 4 years with our top pick (not including also our 2nd pick in 2021) - I think the fan base would revolt.

Our first 2 picks need to be WR and O-Line (unless one of them is addressed in FA or the Trade Market).

Your points are both correct, but i feel that this would be the real deal.

Love him. I watch a ton of Iowa to study OL stuff. Van Ness is going to go mid 1st. If he test well, gonna be top ten imo.

    I’ll take Jack Campbell though.

I don’t know about Campbell, but i can say something about Van Ness. You’ll see, take note and we’ll talk about it in few months.
He has speed, he’s strong, quick feet and most of all character.

When i say he can be the next JJ Watt i’m not kidding.

  8. Just a question: won’t Josh has nothing to say about ?

I mean, others improving their staff and roster but the Bills ?

To become a REAL contender, we need a stud RB, a stud WR, a couple of top OL and another great LB.

AND FOR SURE MORE TOUGHNESS !

FA MARKET, i want: Roquan Smith, Saquon Barkley, OBJ/Jakobe Meyers. Not sure about the OL.

    I work on replacing Frazier.

Unlikely, but I try to move Dorsey back to QB coach (or some type of O assistant), or let him go. I'd be looking for an O coordinator with some more wrinkles to their offense. Someone that knows how to utilize the TE, and work the seam better. Someone that will Incorporate some more quick passing concepts, slants, swings, screens. Someone that can help us generate a little more offensive rhythm more consistently.

I start making calls to move everyone on the D-line that is not Von, Groot, or Daquan.

    I re-sign Maine.

    I draft WR, CB, DL/OL.

Maybe I look to FA to retool the O line a little bit. I have concerns about Morse's availability, and the rest of the O line underperformed, so this definitely needs to get addressed Draft & FA.

I feel you about Dorsey, all along the year  i was repeating again and again about using very much more the short passing game, as you stated here more slants, curls, screen, etc, between 5 and the 10 yards per throw.

After all, the great cannon Josh’s arm is become our first weak point, because Dorsey relied on it

    too muchhh !

So maybe.. after this very first year he could have learned some thing about it and change his offense mixing it much more.
Or maybe someone (the HC ???) can light it up to him.

    If not, bye bye Dorsey.

  10. After a week where i stopped reading and watching about football because our brutal elimination game, i wish to know what would you do with McD, Dorsey and Frazier and Beane if you were the Boss and it was the day to decide their future:

    - McD: keep him or fire him ? In case of firing him, who’ll be your first name ?

    - Dorsey: keep him or fire him ? In case of firing him, who’ll be your first name ?

    - Frazier: keep him or fire him ? In case of firing him, who’ll be your first name ?

    - Beane: keep him or fire him ? In case of firing him, who’ll be your first name ?

Maybe i could be wrong, maybe it would be a very bad mistake, but if i was the boss, i would fire McD because this players need a new guide to follow, new motivations from the HC, someone they see like the one that can lead them farther, i feel that they (maybe not everyone) think it is something McD can’t do.

I’ll keep Dorsey giving him a second chance.

    I’ll fire Frazier

    Not sure about Beane.

I don’t name HC and DC names because i don’t really know who’s very good and available out there, considering college football also.

Obtaining another WR1, an elite pass rusher, and upgrading the offensive line at 3 positions is a heavy task for 1 offseason. Thats w/o mentioning the possibility of losing Poyer and Edmunds, with the lack of salary cap wiggle room. The team is going to need to make some sacrifices, which most likely sees some fan favorites walk. A player like DJ Chark can help fill that 2 role combined with a high draft pick, allowing Davis to move to the #3 role. I believe we’ll see Shakir as the prime slot receiver next year, he showed ability the latter part of the year, and I expect a raise in his level of play and usage next season. The offensive line needs an upgrade at 3 locations; lg, rg, and rt. This needs to be the priority in the draft.

Of course i agree it qould be almost impossible to fix all that points... it was just my personal list of priority.

I 100% agree with you with Shakir, he's very fast, can get separation and has great hands.

And yes, maybe we can attract another great WR that wants to move on from his team and wants to be a part of a seemingly MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, entering in the legend.  😅

ps.  i'll try everything to get Gronk back for one season ....

I think obtaining a true Number 1 RB will move this offense to the next level.  Not drafting Breece Hall last year I think was a big mistake.

Agree... but one question: don't you think that Cook with a top OL and some punds could become that studd RB ? I like his quickness a lot and his ability to find holes breaking some tackles.

  12. Day 2 after the meldown.

Endless ideas on what to do to improve enough to become from good to great.

If i had to chose from top priority down, i will address this way:

    1. give Josh more time in the pocket, so go hard on the OL. We have plenty of examples of standing QBs with not great arm, but thanks to the extra time they had in the pocket, they were very succesfull. Also, improving the OL, will give you a better run game thanks to the holes created in the middle.

    2. get another elite pass rusher to combine with Von. Against the top defenses and QBs you must get to them in every possible way, play aggressive every down no matter what.

    3. find some "dirty-bastard" players... we didn't have one in our D but Milano maybe. We need thos assassins mood players on D.

    4. get an elite slot receiver, because with Josh our problem are not the deep balls, he's the best at, but we lack of a consistent 5 to 8 yards passing game

    5. get another WR1 to combine with Diggs, because your offense can't be shut down just doubling Diggs

OC ? I'm 50/50 to move on or not, just because maybe Dorsey deserve another shot... but if i feel that he's limited with the play calling, i will replace him.

DC ? I will move on from Frazier, i want a more aggressive defensive mind

HC ? Oh well... good but not great maybe it start here... i don't know... honestly i would have a hard time to take this decision. For sure i wouldn't want him back just because his buddy-buddy relationship with the property.

That said... i'm already counting the days from now to the preseason.... a looooong way... 😄... but with great expectations.

  13. Eagles vs Giants.

Watched the game and what i saw is that Gaints aren’t an élite team… ok, but hey, the Eagles are for real.

Im not so sure that SF, if they’ll get to the NFCCG, we’ll have a clear path to the SB.

Another thing is that that game will be played in Philly.

    What you think ?

Paisan, I choose to see this as to show how good this offense can be.  Even when it doesn’t play perfect.

I’m still mulling over the D and it’s inability to get to Thompson enough.

Agree… during the game i was saying the same thing… our D lack of speed.. Von was get in here for something after all.

  15. We won, we go onto the next one, we are still in.

All good things but with the way we escaped from this one, stop me to smile and enjoy.

This was the right game to make a real statement:

a 9-8 team from the State of Florida playing in hour house, with low temperature and more than 70k people with us

a 9-8 team without their QB1 (with a rookie QB3) and RB1 and other missing players

we doubled their yards, up by 17 and all of a sudden thanks to stupid plays with two interceptions and a fumble we were down by 4, 24 to 20 !

Diggs disappeared after a monster start, why ?

Beas and the slot game, like the short check down, almost never used, just bomb after bomb

the run game almost non existent, awful i could say

Maybe i’m missing some other point… the coaches part for sure, but i’m too disappointed to start writing about them.

We won.. of course i’m happy, but I can’t find a joy because all the above.

    I AM SORRY guys.

  16. So… based on what most of you are saying, if Josh had Shanahan, CMC, Debo and Kittle, the Bills would go 17-0 in regular SB winner every year.

May somebody here tell me how many BIG, and how many season ending injuries the niners had ?

I’m really tired about all this 49ers and Purdy hype all over the football world… 49ers arguably best team in the game, best offense, best defense, best coach, best everything… i’m close to the point to be by KC side if the SB was between those two, with Purdy having a good 75% qbr so all this 49ers excitement would be over.

  17. Ok… maybe it could seem exaggerated, but i really hate Brock Purdy.

I hate the fact that people talk about him like the next Tom Brady.

Will this Purdy circus-bandwagon end soon or will i have to tolerate this long time ?

Can’t stand his fake-baby face any longer… and his raucous voice while at the snap count.

Can you make a similar prognostication for the rest of the season? Please?

I could think to ask some bucks for that. 😄

Seriously: i said few times in the past that because the tons of s*** we went through, we are on a mission.

If we can stay healthy, i’m not fearing anyone, many say that our Offense isn’t good enough beside Josh and Diggs, well, you’ll see what Bees and Smoke and Cook and yes, Gabe too will do…

Many say our Defense isn’t that good without Von and Hide… well don’t panic, you’ll see what this D is made of very soon.

And don’t forget: we don’t play all alone.. next one we’ll face Hill (top 3 WR) and Waddle (top 10 ?)… but we are a 13-3 team with all the injuries we had, very bad injuries.

Whatever will happen, i’ll be proud, don’t worry.

But again.. we have everything we need to get there, we are on a mission.
