I am not sure that the details are correct.
According to the archive of the team website, the only two offensive coaches that had any type of long professional playing career from 2004-2007 were Sam Wyche the quarterbacks coach and Tom Clements (CFL) the offensive coordinator with both playing 12 years. It's hard to imagine either getting into it with a rookie, undrafted backup offensive lineman.

A smart move from the Bills. Let Beasley and his team go out there and see what the market looks like. If he finds a team willing to part with assets for him and/or fulfill his contract requests, we gladly part ways. If not, maybe he accepts playing out the last year of his deal here or restructuring into a new deal.

This will not get a vote and is a total publicity stunt.
It also isn't small government for the federal government to dictate to a state or local government how they spend their resources. As to the merits of public investment in a new stadium the calculus is clear: any developer investing hundreds of millions of dollars in New York is getting significant public support. The Buffalo Bills are a valuable enough asset for the region that public investment makes perfect sense when combined with a significant private investment from the Pegulas.

R1: 25 - WR Chris Olave, Ohio State
A polished receiver with great hands who projects perfectly into the role departed by Emmanuel Sanders with a ton of upside. The perfect compliment for Diggs and Davis for years to come.
R2: 57 - CB Kyler Gordon, Washington
The replacement for the cerebral if athletically limited Levi Wallace. While our coaches and safeties have had to compensate for a lack of athleticism opposite Tre'Davious White, Kyler Gordon has all the physical gifts to match up with anyone and allow us to get more aggressive in the secondary.
R3: 89 - DT Neil Farrell Jr., LSU
The eventual replacement for Star Lotulelei with the ability to rotate immediately on early downs as a run stopper and upside rushing the passer.
R4: 127 - CB Marcus Jones, Houston
A top flight athlete and incredible return specialist with the potential to contribute in the slot on defense,
R5: 166 - P Matt Araiza, San Diego State
The second piece to solving our special teams struggles.
R6: 184 - DT Noah Elliss, Idaho
A big boy with incredible power as an early down run stuffer and goal line anchor with the potential to rotate on early downs at the one technique.
R6: 202 - C Luke Wattenberg, Washington
A versatile and athletic player for the Huskies with 48 starts at tackle and guard before seamlessly transitioning to center this season. The exact type of player this team loves for depth on the line.
R7: 242 - TE Cameron Latu, Alabama
A underutilized asset at Alabama who started on defense before a sophomore transition to offense. He had the biggest game of his career in the College Football Playoff against Georgia and could push Tommy Sweeny for snaps as a second tight end.
I took at shot at the PFF Mock Draft Simulator and would be thrilled if we got lucky enough to have these guys on the board particularly in the early rounds.

I think some of this is likely because we are one of the leaders in air yards per completion. By design if you are throwing the ball further down the field you give the defense more of an opportunity to make a quick stop.

It just doesn't make sense though.
Everybody struggles with the Chiefs. They're a great team and it's going to be a struggle to contain them, especially in big games. In 11 playoff games they've been held to less than 30 points twice.
Saying that the solution to our mixed record in a very small sample against the Chiefs is to take a proven statistical strength and weaken it in the hopes of changing the result against the Chiefs is silly. It's like losing a few hands of blackjack with 20 and saying you know what, I'm going to hit 20 because I can't beat the dealer when they have 21. The odds of weakening our position is just so much higher than the odds that one of these retread coaches improves what is already a strength.

They played a better playoff game against the Chiefs than we did, that's for sure.
But they also gave up 41 points to the Browns, 34 points to the Jets, and 41 points to the Chargers this season.
If the negative on the Bills as stated by the critics is stat padding against bad/average teams, what happens when you loose to them and give up 30+ points to the Jets and 40+ points to the Browns?

Step forward - after outperforming expectations two years ago the team held up to the pressure of being one of the best and proved that they belong in the conversation as a Superbowl contender.

I would add for @FilthyBeast and the other critics: name a better defense than ours last year, even tougher, name a better defense in the NFL since Leslie Frazier took over as our defensive coordinator.

At this point though if McDermott truly wants to seal his long term fate in Buffalo and stay attached to Frazier good for him because the irony is there won't be a long term future for them here unless the Pegula's are truly oblivious to the reality around them.
Championship teams don't fire the coordinator of their number one ranked offense or defense because of the outcome of two drives against one of the most capable teams in the league.

I'm sorry this is happening to you.
And yes, it would be great to give our coaches something more to work with than 7 sacks from Mario Addison and Levi Wallace and Dane Jackson trying to chase Tyreek Hill all over the field but I've got to credit them with making the most out of what they have and propelling the defense to number one.

I think you can say in aggregate that he was overpaid, but after the 2017 season we had a gaping hole next to an aging Kyle Williams so there was absolutely a need unless you were high on Adolphus Washington or Cedric Thorton playing a big role. Add that to the available options in free agency for a team clearly rebuilding, its not like there were a ton of options.
I mean seriously, go back and look at who was available and let me know who we should have signed.

I guess you missed the first game of the playoffs where we absolutely dominated the Patriots and also didn't watch the first Chiefs game where we were all over their offense. AGAIN this is with Mario Addison leading the team in sacks and no Tre'Davious White the back half of the season. The fact that we were inarguably statistically the best defense in football this season is a testament to the coaches squeezing everything they could out of the players they have.
I get it the loss was heartbreaking but let's not forget that only a few years ago you were arguing that Tyrod Taylor was the game manager that could lead this team deep into the playoffs and gushing over Nathan Peterman and how would eventually lead the team to the playoffs. This staff has brought us a long way in a real short amount of time and for the first time since my childhood watching this team, have earned our trust.

That's right - we shouldn't accept anything less than being the number one defense in the league. Until we find a coordinator that can get us that top ranking we shouldn't settle.

This team had the best defense in the league entering the playoffs with the top passing defense and top scoring defense. It is laughable that you would replace your coordinator after that type of season long performance. This without White for the final five games of the season, with Mario Addison leading the team in sacks and a hobbled Harry Phillips anchoring the run defense. I get frustration after the loss but moving on from Fraiser would be classic throwing of the baby out with the bathwater.
As for the Texans, as others have said, I think it's obvious that the top tier candidates are not interested in going into that environment. They probably looked at the options and realized any difference between a Lovie Smith (the inarguably more experienced Head Coach) and someone like a Leslie Fraiser or Brian Flores two similarly defensive minded coaches were negligible enough to be offset by their comfort with the candidate already on the team.

This is totally right.
I would like both Wallace and Jackson and would happy with both on the roster next year, but I wouldn't be totally comfortable even with them back. The room needs more depth and talent - at least a veteran contributor or second day player in addition to our current guys.

This may be unpopular but I am not in a rush to get rid of him, especially for only $1.5M in cap savings.
I think you can make an argument to justify $1.5M in cap and $3.5M in salary and bonuses for last seasons production. It's a slam dunk you think there's a chance that without missing time from COVID he would be able to maintain his early season level of production, even in a more limited role.

Cole Beasley had 967 yards in a 16 game season last year where he sat in the last game. If we play 17 competitive games this season I think there's an outside chance we get all three above 1000.

This is an embarrassing thread.
These guys have shown up every day for this team and been high character guys from the start. It's fine to disagree with their stance on the vaccinations but that's their choice and they have a right to make it for themselves and deal with the consequences. Lets not act like any of us who have been going into the office every day since COVID started haven't had moments of noncompliance with mask mandates.
There's no reason to think this is a systemic problem.

This is a joke.
If you played last year during the outbreak, and before the vaccine (which is available most places to anyone that wants it) there is no reason why you couldn't practice this spring or summer in a much safer world. I have never had a problem with players declining to participate in the optional stuff but it's pretty lame for whole teams to use COVID as an excuse in light of last season.
If I was a player I would encourage my union to use it's energy (in negotiations) to get me paid for participating in OTAs rather than organizing stunts like this because they are completely incompetent in actual negotiations.

That's correct - we got out from under 4 years of $20M+ cap hits and got a 2nd round draft pick for our trouble.
If the Diggs of the second half of last season is the Diggs that we see in Houston there's going to be a lot of people eating their words about this trade.
