  1. Last season the Bills basically had a gimmick running game that picked up yards because teams were so afraid of Allen and they were caught off guard.  If they can line up in 12 personnel and impose their will on an obvious running down, that's the sign of an offense capable of winning it all.  Allen will benefit greatly from that kind of balance and so will the defense.  I think that's why Harris was signed and I'm sure we're going to see the effort made to get there.  Whether they can make it happen is another story, but I like what they're doing so far.

BB is 71 and Andy Reid is 65.

This is something lost in the current discussion about Mahomes/Reid catching BB/Brady, in other words it's not happening at least not Mahomes and Reid together.

Also why I think the Mahomes hype will have to slow down at some point because he's not going to have Kelce/Reid/Chris Jones together with him his entire career or much longer for that matter.

All true, but if Hoodie retires and Reid is less than 55 wins behind.... That might be possible in 4 seasons.  Reid is not the picture of physical health though, I don't think he'll catch BB, but that will likely dominate the headlines every time the Chiefs win.  Once Reid leaves, Mahomes might come back down to Earth and prove mortal.

  3. Elliott is veteran depth, that's his value and his role, so no reason to overthink it.  If they had signed Cook, that would be different.

As far as Mac-n-cheese is concerned, I think we'll see an improved version of 2021 and you can throw out 2022 due to a converted DC designing a Barney level offense in crayon, calling the plays and not having a clue.  Not having a legit WR1 and a shaky O-line makes me believe Jones will have plenty of struggles though.  The Division looks like they best in the league, until you see that all 4 O-lines are average at best.  Of the 4 QBs left to run for their lives, I'll take Allen all day.

All RBs in the division will struggle, especially Zeke if he's lost a step or two.  I'm guessing he posts his lowest YPC average of his career without the famous Dallas O-line.

Let me preface this by saying I love Stefon Diggs.  This is not an advocation to move on from him.  But my question stems from the fact that 2 other teams (GB and KC) with an Ellie QB have moved on from there true #1 WR’s.  If this season plays out well for them will this be a trend?

Thought provoking, great question.  Every QB, every offense, every relationship has its own evolving dynamic and you can't nail it down to a trend IMHO.  Brady had a true #1 for like 2 years?  Manning had a true WR1 and WR1a for years, but he only got one SB trophy and that was a defensive performance.  Chad Johnson was a true #1 with Carson Palmer throwing to him, but they never won anything.  Diggs is great because he's playing up to his contract.  When he stops then we make sure Allen gets immediate help from high picks in the draft.

  5. Typical of August... We will build on last year while everyone else topped out last season and can only expect to lose more games.  lol

Every single year its the same old same old....

When the QB position was neutralized, they beat us in our own backyard.  After that we surged forward while they trended downward.  When we played them their defense was beat up and tired, which showed.  BUT!  47-17 is the new normal, right?  lol

We're going to beat them, probably twice, but 47-17 is not my expectation.

  6. Key injuries always provide pivot points in a season for every team and it's rare that they don't happen.  Trying to predict the season is like reading tea leaves.... Last year is some kind of indication but seems around here it's always the floor and we're only going up from there🙄.  Fact is, every year is completely different, injuries happen, and teams you didn't see coming end up making a run (2021 Bengals).

As it stands right now the Bills are the best in the Conference on paper and expectations are high to say the least.  As long as Allen stays healthy, the Bills will run the table and get home field through the playoffs.  How that turns out is part of Allen's legacy, but I like our chances.  14-3

Jones isn't a bad QB, but he's not the 2nd coming for the Pats either. He's smart and processes things pretty well, but his arm is average at best. He can succeed in a timing based system, but he's not going to wow you with any escape ability or off script plays. Cover One did a breakdown of he and Allen making the exact same throw. Allen's got there in less than 3 seconds I believe.(2.7 maybe ?) Jones' pass was 4.1 and that was the one Hyde picked off. Out of everyone in last year's draft, I always said he was the most pro-ready QB. He does have limitations though.

Agree, just remember that NE went 11-5 with Matt Cassel and 3-1 with Garrapolo/other guy(?) because they had very good rosters.  Jones is capable of leading teams like that to the playoffs, but the problem for him is less talent around him than they had.  Seems to me Jones is set to struggle because they suck at drafting and not due to his own "limitations".  Put Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Donte Stallworth out there and the outlook is totally different, no?

  8. Jones is limited physically?  lol, I love that one.... Is he more or less athletic than Brady, or maybe pretty comparable?  I would compare his physical ability to the guy with seven rings rather than the "athletic" guys with none or one.

I would say the Patriots aren't a major factor in our season because they suck at drafting star talent, we don't.  Jones is one they got right, the rest of their drafts are why they aren't keeping up.

  9. From a sports perspective, the Cowboys suck.  From a business perspective, they are THE dynasty..... Jerry bought the team for 140 mil, now worth 6.5 BILLION and number one by far in the NFL.  Wouldn't surprise me if Kraft catches up to Jerry though, he's much smoother and just as driven.  Every time the Cowboys choke in the playoffs, it just fuels the hype for next year.  Murica's team (can't stand their fans), followed by legions who will never in their life attend an actual game.

  10. It always boggled my mind why the Bills ran a no huddle offense and conceded time of possession to NFC East, run dominant-ball control teams while fielding a relatively small defense.  Every single one of those games the defense wore down and gave up a lot of yardage on the ground and allowed the other team to dictate.  I recall against the Giants, we got into the red zone and ran a conventional offense with FB j Mueller in there.  2 plays and we pounded them, blew them off the ball and showed we could beat them at their own game.  Did Levy adjust?  nope...

  11. If you put Allen on the Charger's roster, they make the playoffs.  Can't say the same if you sent us Herbert.  The Bills will go as far as Allen and a good defense will take them, not unlike that Brady guy and his teams.  The Chargers had all sorts of stars in Rivers, LaDanian Tomlinson, Gates at TE, great defense, etc. and they never did anything.  Your QB has to have that certain "it" factor, Allen does, and no one knows if Herbert does or ever will.  It shows up in big moments, not stats.

I've said it before - 6 is the new 27.

And I say that as a Yankees fan.  But it's increasingly hilarious to see Boston fans who once ridiculed their Yankee counterparts for even mentioning 27 championships to now mention "6" in every other sentence.  "I'm good, brah - I've got 6 rings under my belt."

We used to say things like, "no one else has ever gone to four straight".....  Now that we have a superstar QB and a real shot every year, we're cool as fans and they're pathetic, right?  lol

Fact is, we're all the same just living in different places rooting for different teams.  Except for Philly of course, those people really are mean.  lol

  13. I don't think you look for that player to put you over the top.  I do think you look at what you have, what got you here, and what you absolutely cannot afford to lose in order to continue giving yourself the best chance to win.  That's the difference between consistency and high stakes gambling.  Allen makes this whole team better in every respect, so I think we start with protecting him and ensuring he has play makers to get the ball to.  Deal with the rest as it comes.

  14. Without even addressing personnel changes, the thing that sticks out to me is finding consistency in approaching opponents.  It's on the head coach to ensure the team takes EVERY opponent seriously and prepares accordingly like professionals.  Playing down to an opponent you should crush is unacceptable.

If they can correct that issue, I think it covers some of the ground needed to get home field advantage.

  15. If a 10% less inflated ball equals 20% less turn overs for your team in a copy cat league, everyone would have done it.  The whole thing was just plain silly and it still is... If it was important to the game, they would be testing the game balls at every game during halftime to this day.

In Brady's case, we all know that he simply doesn't hold the ball long and gets rid of it as faster than just about anyone in the league.  He replaced Bledsoe, who we all saw here.  That guy ALWAYS held the ball too long like a statue back there and fumbled twice as much as Brady, which is probably why Hoodie let him go.  Hoodie also puts any player who fumbles in the dog house.  I remember when they had good players who sat the bench for a fumble weeks prior.  Then there was their Oline coach that was there forever.  That guy took late round projects and made them ProBowl players (sometimes).  So, take Hoodie's emphasis on taking care of the ball, the game plan and Brady's quick release, and then their O line play and you get way below the league average in fumbles.  That shows in the stats, not vice versa because of 10% less air in the ball.  Seriously...

How or why exactly did the NFL even decide decades ago that 12.5 lbs of air was the standard?  As if they went into some real deep modern analytics?  lol
