So, we can sign any FA out there and we're spending the early hours of FA on extensions and bringing back our own guys.
Tells me we are NOT looking to be aggressive in the least. To the draft ..
Beane is doing exactly what he said he was going to do in free agency so far. He said they would not be big players early, and other than a couple of cheaper signings, they are not. He said they will be looking for value as it progresses and I am sure they will. If people were expecting some big splash signing I am not quite sure how they got to that expectation.
I expect a safety signing before too long, and additional Dl depth. Post June 1, there may be an opportunity similar to Floyd last year. They will have more money than when Tre’s savings kick in. Patience.

Good safeties can be found late in the draft. Hyde and poyer, for instance, were both late rd picks I believe
Maybe so, but they were not NFL good for several years. The Bills need a FS and are going to need to sign someone. It is very disappointing that they are dragging their feet on this one, but I am sure thee is a plan.

When did he rape someone?
College. Allegedly of course. We will never know for sure since Florida State and the local police buried the investigation.

The Ravens already have the best running back in the league. Seems like a waste.

That's a lot of dough for a career backup coming off an ACL tear
That's not a shot at Hines, just surprised at that deal
The only way it makes sense is if the guarantee is basically league minimum and the rest incentives. For a player whose game is based on speed, is already 27, and coming off an ACL tear, anything else is a huge gamble.

Best of luck to Gabe. I have no doubt he's a hard worker.
Yes, a hard worker who lacks the talent to justify that commitment. Good luck to him.

Hope you are being sarcastic, because Davis played 95 % of the snaps the past two years. Nothing but chances.

Too much for this player for the Bills. He was a total non factor in the last quarter of the season and playoffs. Thanks for the memories, but goodbye.

The obvious plan is to get younger at WR. They are targeting a WR in round 1 and will likely move up to get him. They may sign a FA or two for camp competition, but otherwise, no major FA signings at WR should be expected.
-
Great move for the Bills. I still expect a bargain signing similar to the Floyd deal post June 1 but they can roll with this.
-
This is a solid move in my mind. Is there even another safety on the roster? Rapp is at least a known quantity and he knows their scheme. They are not done with this position so let’s see what they have in mind, but if people envisioned somehow capturing lightening in a bottle again with Hyde and Poyer replacements, I think they should adjust their short term expectations.

A sad day in Orchard Park.
Bidding farewell to Tre White, Jordan Poyer, and Mitch Morse is a hard pill to swallow. All three were standout performers during their time here, all three were standout human beings off the field and leaders in the locker room, and all three were emblematic of and critical to the success of this era of Buffalo Bills football.
Not all cuts in the NFL are created equal, and losing three men like White, Poyer, and Morse signals a sea change in the locker room, and a void of leadership and experience created. It also signals opportunity for a new generation of Buffalo Bills. But before the new guys get their shot, I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the outgoing Bills.
No one stands out as having heralded the change in fortunes for the Buffalo Bills as much as Tre'Davious White and Jordan Poyer. Both arrived in year 1 of the from-the-ground-up rebuild, and both led the defensive unit with pride and excellent play for years. Mitch Morse came aboard in 2019 and was a great leader on the offensive side of the ball.Yes, all of these cuts were necessary from a salary cap standpoint, and it can be argued that two of them were necessary from a health/age/effectiveness standpoint as well.
When you're running an NFL team and you're paying a franchise quarterback, tough decisions need to be made. Today is the first day that Bills fans are really seeing the reality of what this means in real time.
Yes, it was necessary. Yes, I am excited for a bit of a youth movement and some fresh faces around One Bills Drive. But that doesn't mean these cuts don't hurt, and that it's not sad to see the departure of these great players and great men.
Today is a sad day in Orchard Park. I thank all three men (and the other players that were cut) for their efforts and for their contributions to turning the Buffalo Bills into consistent contenders. I wish each of them luck in their remaining football careers or whatever lay behind them. Thank you Tre White, Jordan Poyer, and Mitch Morse.
Now if you'll excuse me, I think someone's cutting onions in here.Very well said. Thank you.

So, don't do it again? I mean, we know what Mitch is
I support taking a shot at a guy who can develop into a long term backup, but it would suicidal to count on a late round rookie to be the primary backup. They need a competent veteran behind Josh.

But why would they move on from them?
Too much to invest in receivers when you have no QB.
2 minutes ago, Green Lightning said:He's 29 with two years left on his contract with a $17+ million cap hit this year. You hate to extend him and have another 30+year old receiver. We have to see how the heck we're going to get under the cap as it is. I say draft a WR and follow the KC path on defense.
I agree. This does not work for the Bills. The correct path is to get younger and cheaper at WR in the out years of the Diggs contract.

His cap hit is 85 MILLION
Even so, if you are Denver, better to take the cap pain now rather than suffer through another year of the anti-leader and mediocre player that is Russel Wilson. They need to start building their team.

We laugh but Miami is set at QB and can build around him. They will compete for the AFC every year with Tua.
They will compete, but will not achieve any dominance or sustained success with either their woefully over classed head coach or their very limited QB. The pattern of the last two years, late season collapse, is the sustainable one for the Dolphins. I do not blame them if they make this move that could well be their best option, but let’s not fool ourselves into believing this puts them ahead of the Bills.

They are experiencing their own step back with worse coaching and a worse QB. Their shot was this year and they of course choked it away in December and January because that’s what the Dolphins do.

Move on from Morse … no need to kick that down the road any further …they must have kept Bates around for a reason …Restructuring Knox concerns me … I would be looking to trade him after this season … he has more value elsewhere than to the Bills … but they can’t trade him this year
Unfortunately, trading Knox if that is even possible opens a significant hole in their roster. The contract is a problem, but that overpay does not change the fact that they need someone with his skill set.

The fact that the Bills' defensive backs have performed well over the years are an indication that he might be qualified. Outside of Elam, our other defensive backs have performed pretty well during Butler's tenure. He's been a defensive position coach on a successful NFL team for several years and has earned a promotion during that time. Those are typically the type of guys who get promoted to defensive coordinator roles. I'm no insider at One Bills Drive. Like most people here, I watch all the games, read stuff online, and participate on this board. So I really don't know if he's qualified, but it's certainly possible that he is, and its even more likely that he THINKS he is qualified. As such, I stand by my opinion that he wanted the promotion to DC and decided to part ways with the team when Babich got it. I agree with you that ranting on social media is not a good look at all, even if it was not a large time investment to do it.
The Bills had three coaches who have been being groomed by McD. Washington, Butler, and Babich. He deferred the decision a year after Frazier left. No doubt all three of those guys knew the score. All there were more than competent coaches. All three showed at least some leadership potential to be part of that. McD ultimately chose Babich. Washington got his DC job. Butler did not.
This is an example of outstanding organizational management and development. There is literally no other way to interpret it. The fact that Butler chose to react the way he did to the disappointment of not getting this critical leadership role supports the decision to not give him the job IMO. Good luck to him. He is a good DB coach. Not everyone is cut out for leadership.

Woody Johnson once again proving why the Jets will crash and burn... two comments that are very telling:
- On GM Douglas and HC Saleh: "The discussions I've had in the last couple of months, they've seen me about as mad as I can be with what was going on, with the offense particularly," Johnson said, according to reports. "We have all this talent, and we have to deploy talent properly. So I think they all got the message. This is it. This is the time to go. We've got to produce this year."
-
On Aaron Rodgers: The Jets have been criticized for giving Rodgers too much power within the organization, but Johnson said he values the input.
"He has strong opinions on the way the team is built, and we are digesting exactly how to interpret that," he said. "You need an interpreter a little bit there, but I couldn't be more impressed."
In essence he is allowing Rodgers to subvert the GM and the HC because he is impressed by him. Just WOW.

Further evidence that the Jets are a total s... show and will continue to be.They are likely to be hyped to the max again this year, but they will crash and burn just as hard.

Didn't they honor Ray Rice at a game this season? "No tolerance" feels like it means something else...
Ray Lewis was charged with murder and he is a local hero, team legend, and in the Hall of Fame. I would not ever expect the NFL or the Ravens in particular, to really act in a socially responsible manner. Will be some hand wringing and posturing though.

Losing Butler is unfortunate, but had to happen when he did not get the top job. McDermott has been grooming three different coaches for the DC role and chose Babich. The others are bound to be disappointed. I take his expressed butt hurt with a grain of salt considering, although I am sure Tyler Dunne will in touch very soon.
